Angelenos here ready to come celebrate our annual small town Christmas weekend. Tree lighting in Solvang. Solvang Christmas parade. Tree lighting in Los Olivos.
Anything else we can't miss?
I know Solvang is a land of wine, but I'll be there for a week next month from LA to finish some reading and writing assignments, plus relax. I know it's a small place with few options, but can anyone recommend a dive bar or a bar where locals hang out at any time (I can drink all morning or all night, depending on what time I wake up)? I'm not looking for excitement, partying, something "interesting," or "something new," I'm just looking for a place with cheap beer/cider (or moderately priced, in this economy) that's either empty or only patronized with people trying to pass the time because they have nothing better to do.
Thank you!
Did anyone else see what was in the sky about 10 min ago off acorn????
Hello I’m a 24 yr old good looking white man looking for a job either long term, short term or one time. It can be as strange or as perverse as you can imagine (no limits no inhibitions) will do anything/wear anything etc.
Force me to strip and mow your lawn, make me your waiter for a party, tell me what you want me/us to do and let’s make it happen
Very much in need of help

I've never seen it but I hear it around ten at night. It sounds like a mix of a very low chihuahua growl and that noise cats makewhen they're really scared where they almost go "hello?" No, it is not a machine it moves around my culdesac and has varying pitches, and obviously does not sound like a machine. This is near Oak valley btw
Is Uber an option in SY? Looking at staying at Hotel Ynez or Ballard Inn and want to visit the nearby wineries without driving. They're a bit far to walk. Thanks!
Looking for a company that will pick us up at our hotel and follow our itinerary to local wineries and restaurants and then back to hotel at the end of the day
Highest I've seen it in my years of driving this road
What did they get right? What is missing?
Hello Out There,
Looking for a place to rent, currently working in Santa Barbara and hate the commute from L.A. Please feel free to send a message if you know of anything, thanks in advance
We are coming into town next weekend and there’s a chance of rain (although the forecast is no longer showing it) but I’d rather plan for it in case. In November we came during rain and went to Peake Ranch and it was absolutely beautiful to taste on their covered porch during the rain under heaters.
Any other favorites like this that would be perfect for a possibly rainy day. Outside, covered porch, with a view.
Thank you!
Thanks in advance for any input.
Friday Solvang Christmas Parade
Saturday Carhartt Chili Cook-off
Saturday Los Olivos Tree Lighting
(raincoats and umbrella packed)
Live in the SY Valley but willing to travel to SB as well. Average tennis player just looking for a partner to play with once or twice per week. I'm a 44 yo male and pretty active. Interested....pleas let me know.
My name is Chay Comas, I have lived in Santa Maria for 17 years, and have been trying to play Dungeons & Dragons in Santa Maria for most of those years lol.
I am currently running D&D games at the Abel Maldonado Center for youths and it is growing quite popular. However, It seems what little community around the DnD hobby there was before COVID has dried up since, including the local discord Central Coast Gaming. I would like to revive the D&D community here in Santa Maria, and I am ready to devote the next 10-months testing the feasibility of this.
My first step is to reach out to the community here, on other boards, and in person at local spots to find anyone willing to join the discord and start priming the community. We are a fast growing club, and will soon be putting together community events, I am very excited to say.
Our member base geographically spans from Santa Ynez to Santa Maria, including Lompoc.
If you are interested, or know anyone who may be interested in joining this community, or helping grow it, please reach out to me. Discord seems to be the fastest growing community binder of the next generation, and I am in the middle of learning it, though I would graciously accept any assistance on the technical side of community moderation and management.
For far-future readers, I'll be posting progress on my website or any of these:
Been searching around. I found Crown Point, but it’s a bit out of my price range considering that you must also buy $300 minimum of wine in addition to the $100 per person tour fee. Any recommendations for wineries that do actual vineyard tours that don’t break the bank? Thanks!
