Hi all, my wife and I are visiting this weekend and I want to set up a sort of vow renewal on Saturday afternoon. We got married in August with friends and family, but we wanted to do something just the two of us. Is there somewhere in town/nearby that’d be somewhat private (with a nice view would be a plus!) we could do this? It’d just be the two of us for less than 20 minutes.
Also, apologies if not the place for asking this, but if anyone would have time to take a few photos/help read that would be super cool and would pay for your time, but totally happy to have my tripod setup with just us. Thanks in advance y’all!
Hi Folks,
My husband, our 3-year-old, and I are planning to visit Solvang in December. We’re excited about exploring the Danish vibes during the holiday season!
A few questions for those who have been: • Is Christmas a good time to visit Solvang? Any special events or festive highlights we shouldn’t miss? • Recommendations for family-friendly places to stay? • Must-visit spots or activities for a family with a toddler? Bakeries / restaurants must tries?
Would love to hear your tips and experiences!
Thanks in advance!
A big part of my childhood was the remote-controlled boats at the waterwheel shopping center on 1st and Molle. I know they have long since gone away, but if anyone has any photos of them, I'd like to see them.
Hello so my girlfriends dad keeps taking about a spot that had a tall beer that held at least 4 beer in on mug. By chance would anyone know where he is talking about
Hi my dad just got a new job working in Solvang, so me and my family just moved out here. Wondering what there is to do for people my age around here?
I finally got a chance to eat at Bit O' Denmark., and it was not great...
•The cream for my coffee smelled really bad, like Bleu cheese, as if it had been sitting in the tin for ages. When I added it to my coffee, there were chunks floating in it. The server brought me a new one, but it was exactly the same, like he didn't even check first. •I asked for salad and got fries anyway, even after he repeated the dressing and everything back to me. •The whole place smells like a wet mop, and there were flies hanging around in the dining room. •The bathroom floor was sticky like a movie theater (?)
(Tbf, the Monte Cristo tasted amazing, though, and was crispy and perfect. The cook is doing great!)
Any recommendations for better places to eat?
Any other horror stories I should know about? lol
Hello!
I'm putting together a Valentine's day gift for my girlfriend which includes a postcard from every city we've visited together over the past year. I forgot to buy one in Solvang when we visited during Christmas and was wondering if somebody who lives here could mail me one?
I would obviously reimburse for the price of the card + shipping if anyone in the area would be willing to help me create a special moment for a loved one!
They just started offering "The Haunt" ghost tours in Solvang back in October, and I see them out there walking all the time. I was wondering if anyone has ever had a paranormal experience there? Please share! There has to be a reason they chose Solvang, right?

Hello folks.
My family and I went on a road trip around California, Arizona, and Nevada this past summer.
During our time in California, we had to, of course, visit Solvang, as we had heard so much about it from back home in Denmark. What a lovely little town, huh? It was so surreal to feel at home when, in fact, we were many miles away from home. Although the weather was a quite bit better and we had to get by on English, it was basically like home. We tasted some great wines and saw a lot of things that we take for granted every day as ordinary Danes. We went and got æbleskiver and frikadeller and other great food from back home.
We can definitely recommend Solvang for any people who are interested in experiencing a glimpse of another culture from the wide world.
If you're interested in virtual reality, but don't want to dish out the money for a setup just yet, there are VR arcades opening up around the country. I'm not affiliated with any of them, but I love VR and enjoy telling others about opportunities where they can try it out.
Check out this article that talks about the new arcade. I hope you'll head over and try out virtual reality. It's amazing! :)
Hey everyone,
I'm visiting for the week and would love to get some Magic games in! I have decks for most formats, so just wondering if there are any little groups that wouldn't mind having a guest Planeswalker!
Thanks!
Our league has been playing here since 1992 and the minimum number of players to keep the league open is 6, and through a couple of deaths and someone moving away, we're down to 6 people now, so we need more players! We're a fun group of people, we range in ages from 40s-80s. We play right at 6pm on Tuesdays at Mi Amore Pizza and Pasta at 1321-M North H Street, if you want food, come at 5:30, it's good to arrive at least a few minutes before 6. The cost to play is $7 and you can play with us three times before having to join the league, so you can try us out. First and second place win money each night (sometimes 3rd if we have enough people).
I've been playing with the league since 2010 and they're really a good bunch of people and it's just fun. And you can play pinball and ski-ball during the breaks!
If you know how to play cribbage but haven't played in a while, I'm also willing to either meet you early at the pizza place or get coffee with you some other time and give you a refresher and play a few games with you to get you up to speed!
So please check us out, you know how much fun cribbage is! Thanks!
I'm in Sacramento, but I used to be stationed at Vandenberg AFB. I heard about the little Danish town Solvang, but only passes thru once. I don't know what's the 'must do' stuff there. Where should eat and best hotels all that. Pop wants to check it out. I told him about the town and he's super interested and I want to show him a good time there. Thanks
Every time I swing by I try to find a spot that has lefse for sale but so far no luck. Anyone know where I can get some?
So my family is moving to Buellton next week. My wife and I are 27/31 respectively with 2 boys ages 5/6. We're just looking for interesting couples, with kids about the same age, who are into board games, beer, wine, and just generally hanging out. If you're a nerd it's a plus as we are both huge nerds.
My boyfriend and I are looking to visit Solvang the 14th-16th. We usually stay at an Airbnb but we can't find any available in town.
Can anyone suggest a cheap motel or other Airbnb type locations?
Thank you!
Hello fellow redditors. I'm writing a story which takes place in Solvang and I would like to know how big is the police department there (how many employees?). I have heard that in some small towns police officers do a lot community tasks like cleaning and repairing cars ect. I kind of need this kind of place for the story, so does Solvang belong in this category or should I find smaller town for the story?
I'm just looking for some pickup soccer in the area during the summer while I'm around. Anyone know of a time/place people play? Not looking for the indoor games in Buellton, but something outside.
Looking back, what a crazy place to grow up around. Anybody else out there....
I noticed that the 77th annual Danish festival is this weekend.anything else to recommend. I'll be there Friday and Saturday. It looks like at least twenty tasting rooms...any killer wines.
