It's the most wonderful time of the year to ride a bike down the middle of Fair Oaks Blvd and J St! The California International Marathon was so kind to organize these road closures it would be rude not to enjoy their hard work.
The goal is to roll out in that happy space between when the rolling road closures start (to be free of cars) and stay well ahead of the of the first pack of wheeled participants in the marathon (first adaptive cyclists roll out from the start line at 6:53am). Our pace is not a hammer fest but a 15+ mph should keep us where we want to be.
Meet up is at Coffee Republic around 6ish. Roll out at 6:30pm sharp. The route is available on Ride with GPS. Ride with GPS has lots of export options for whatever device you might use. LMK if you have any issues with it.
Bring lights! Sunrise is 7:00 so it will be dark at the start.
The weather is looking great! Will be a little chilly at the start but sunny with highs in the 60s later in the day. A warm layer and long fingered gloves will probably be nice to have at the start.
Looking forward to enjoying the open streets with y'all!
edit: If you're driving to the meet up, all day parking is available at the Old Folsom Garage. The meet up parking lot has 2 hr signs posted. While some people parked there last year without issue, YMMV.
You can use it to report things that block the bike lane… It is supported by SABA
Love you see this car blocking the bike lane. Plenty of nearby parking spots, of course.
A group did this last year and it was a fun morning. Posting to see if it may happen again this year?
Any interest?:

UPDATE: Here's logistics from last year's ride with the updated meetup time (thanks @Vacuum_Decay_Now!):
Meet up at Coffee Republic parking lot (6610 Folsom-Auburn Rd, Folsom) 6:00AM, roll out at 6:30AM.
Bring lights, it will be dark at the start. Sunrise is 7:00AM.
If you're driving to the start, use the (free) Old Folsom garage and roll across the bridge to the meet up.
Here's how they do it elsewhere - let's make it a tradition here!:

Any fences?
Hello. I was wondering if there's any group bicycle rides on the American River bike trail near the Folsom/rancho Cordova side. Would like to meet up with a group and ride around lake natoma or zip down to Cal expo. Not looking for a group of professional cyclists, just a merry band of degenerates on ebikes, bikes, scooters, etc looking to go for a ride, have a few drinks. I rode with the Reno bike night folks up there most last winter/summer and would love to find a group like that.
Beautiful Thanksgiving on the trail, though. Happy Thanksgiving, SacBike!
A while ago I saw a group of people with custom bikes riding around in groups near the downtown area.
Does anyone know if groups like these have any online event postings? I would like to join.
I was walking my dog on Wednesday and I found a U lock on the ground ~F/23. No bike nearby.
I'll return the lock to whoever knows the correct combination.
Not really expecting to get it back, but my partner's wheel was yanked off at the Medical Center today, whilst we have rainmahgeddon 2024. The most maddening part is that they disconnected the dynamo, leaving the light. Like, if they know what they're taking that's especially dark.
Anyone have an idea on where the wheel goes? I'd assume the person hasn't any intent on using the dynamo.
311 and 315 30th St in Sacramento are two semi-abandoned houses that are a hot spot for stolen bicycles and other theft.
Some ass hat walked into my garage and off with my fav bike and helmet. Lmk if you see it.

Yesterday evening, I had my giant escape 3 (metallic black in color) stolen right in front my eyes from a residential complex in downtown Sacramento. A woman pretending to be a resident in the complex took the bike in front of my house just in the span of 5-6 seconds it was out of sight of me. I ran behind her but couldn't catch her.
Hi there,
Can anyone recommend some routes that are between 30 and 50 miles, that start in Sacramento? I've biked the American River Trail a fair bit, and am looking for new routes. I've also been going out to Clarksburg a decent amount and would like to explore other areas.
Are there any good routes along Garden Highway, or even out to Davis?
Have they opened back up the area that was closed just upriver from mile 3 on the Parkway?
Hey Sac Bikers, I'm heading to the convention center tomorrow for a conference and curious if anyone knows about secure bike parking options there or nearby. Does the convention center have a secure indoor bike parking area or valet or monitored bike parking? If not, is there a safe option nearby?

SAVE HOOT! Have you sent your email yet?
Do you love Hoot? Let the Tahoe National Forest know about it!
The US Forest Service is proposing to make substantial changes to Hoot Trail including reducing berms and eliminating rollers and other trail features. If you value Hoot Trail, they need to hear from you.
Please provide your comments via email to District Ranger Tom Parrack at thomas.parrack@usda.gov and Forest Supervisor Beth Martinez at elizabeth.martinez@usda.gov. Tell them why you love Hoot, a fun story from the trail, or why you think it should remain unchanged.
They need to hear from you now! Take action by Friday November 15 before USFS starts on this work.
Anyone know any well lit areas to ride? Specifically starting around midtown? I usually ride around 5-7 pm but my usual route along the ARBT is dark and it makes me nervous to ride alone. Any recommendations?
It’s not paved yet, but this is the first time I’ve seen it possible to pass from the river trail at Sac State all the way to Sutters Landing C/28. I don’t know if it’s passable under the freeway during the week.
