Kyrie was supposedly caught off guard and is not the happiest with the trade. While it could all be a smoke screen because he might’ve been actually involved in bringing in AD. But if it is true and he doesn’t pick up his player option, should we pursue him in free agency?
I’m thinking Al Horford and a 2nd round pick from the Celtics in 2030. Just top of my head i’m sure there’s better options - or maybe i’m reaching too high. Let me know
Among first-round NBA drat picks in 2029 from the Mavericks, Rockets, and Phoenix Suns, Houston will own the two-highest selections. Those 2029 draft assets, obtained in a trade with Brooklyn last June, are all unprotected and will convey to the Rockets, no matter what.
mavs fans should straight up boycott all their games the rest of the season. only empty arenas at home. this is organizational malpractice, somebody must have blackmailed nico harrison.
Title, this is something I have given a lot of thought to. Obviously, Amen starts. He has been our best player since he started starting, argue with a wall. That being said, I still believe Jabari really needs to start. He isn't going to be our franchise cornerstone, but he is a damn good role player, in fact like a perfect archetype for a role player. Especially if our core includes Amen and Sengun, we need the shooting and rim protection. Our defensive rating has plummeted ever since JS has been out and I think that is a causation and not a coincedence.
With all that in mind, who gets dropped? Personally, I think DB will be moved to the bench and Amen slot in at the 3, Bari at the 4. This will probably be a tough pill to swallow for everyone, but a necessary one. DB would be a perfect off the bench stopper and a spark plug for threes. I still think he would get roughly the same amount of minutes as before.
However, another situation which I don't think would ever happen but I would love to experiment with, would be FVV to the bench and Amen run the point. Amen coming into the league was an extremely good playmaker and I believe he still can be, at this level. Moving Fred to the bench would probably hinder us a bit at first, but ultimately would develop Amen and we could see a real monster for years to come.
So what do you think, answer on the poll your starting five post Jabari coming back.
We are happy to have you and you're going to love this team, couldn't be a better time to strap in, it's going to be a blast off!

As Rockets fans, we've seen for ourselves (or were 27 missed threes away from seeing for ourselves) how the ball dominance stuff with Luka is overblown. Whole league should have seen when he made the finals just last season.
On the one hand, it's kind of nice we weren't subjected to weeks of trade speculation just for them to go for a "win now" package. But man, Lakers exceptionalism sure does suck for the rest of the league.
*(Or Ime would have strangled him mid-game)
I would like to share some of my thoughts on the Luka Dončić trade and its implications for every NBA team.
From last year to today, we have witnessed two major trades involving teams that reached the Western Conference Finals and the NBA Finals, respectively. Both teams traded their superstar players in their prime—an unprecedented move in NBA history. This signals the full impact of the new CBA on team strategies.
There are striking similarities between both trades. The Minnesota Timberwolves were embroiled in an ownership dispute, while the Dallas Mavericks have a new ownership group that is reluctant to operate at a financial loss in the early years. Both trades were executed discreetly to minimize backlash from fans and the media. Additionally, both trades involved strong ties to former executives—Rob Pelinka and the Nike VP in the case of the Mavericks, and Tom Thibodeau in the case of Minnesota.
With the Luka Dončić trade, I believe such a move can only stem from ownership and trickle down. The primary motivation appears to be Luka’s upcoming supermax extension. In response to the owner’s intentions, GM Nico Harrison sought out the only team where this could be done discreetly—under the radar—and that team turned out to be the Los Angeles Lakers.
So, what are the implications for other NBA teams?
The CBA places significant financial pressure on ownership: Teams like Minnesota, which traded Karl-Anthony Towns, Dallas, which dealt Luka Dončić, and the LA Clippers, who allowed Paul George to walk, are all directly impacted by the new collective bargaining agreement.
The win-now window is shorter than ever, especially for teams not well-managed: Even large-market teams are increasingly unwilling to absorb long-term penalties from the second apron. The pressure to succeed quickly is rising, and poorly managed teams may find their championship windows closing faster than expected.
Young talents on more affordable contracts have become more valuable than ever: For example, the Houston Rockets have been fortunate in managing the contracts of Alperen Şengün and Jalen Green through effective negotiations. Ideally, this will extend to Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason as well, allowing the team to build on cost-effective, young talent in a financially challenging environment.
…then all the conspiracy theories in the past are true and I’m officially done with World Basketball Entertainment for good.
“Cowboys fans are surprisingly hype about Luka being a Laker. They haven’t been this excited since Juan Soto became a Yankee”
I love how stupid Dallas is haha.
I'm not saying this is happening, but it's certainly within the realm of possibility. So let's say it does.
What would you offer for Luka when everything is on the table?
The goat strikes again
I searched for it, but couldn't find any information on his injury. It was listed as bruise for the Grizzlies game, but that's all. We definitely need him for the Knicks game, and later for the Timberwolves. The rest of the schedule looks easy enough.
Note: This isn't doomposting. I'm just curious of his injury update.
Sure, getting Luka would've been awesome but let's not get stuck in the past.
After this trade the Lakers got literally skeletons running their center and power forward minutes.
I feel the Lakers ain't done and that they're going for someone half competent at center.
Could Bron be traded?
NOW HOLD ON HEAR ME OUT
Yea he's a senior unc by now but I'd love to see him in Houston running PG. Would immediately turn the rockets to contenders and would be an amazing mentor for all of our young guys. And I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be as expensive to acquire as the other superstars in the league.
Lebron still has a no trade clause tho and him being interested in coming to Houston is a whole different matter.
What do y'all think? What's the Lakers' next move and do the rockets get some action.
Sounds like we Mavs fans are done and some are no longer going to support their teams.
Do u think we'll be getting some refugees?
And Fred Van Vleet
This is all it took?? Look at our Assets.
Came here from Dallas, Really big on Amen, I really want to switch teams and support the rockets. What are some things I should know about the rockets?
Tough
The worst trade in modern NBA history and we are going to benefit massively from it. We own the best pick between the Suns or Mavericks in 2029.
Still can't believe the Mavericks did this trade.
That picked could be real valuable
Best team in Texas! 🤘🏽
WTF IS GOING ON
OMGGGGGG
no way that trade is real right? we definitely could have made a better offer
