I don't know who I think was the worst choice in terms of director - Black or Strause brothers...

Have you tried to ask yourself this question? Well, I did when I recently have checked what else Strause brothers directed and was amazed that AvPr was their first movie and all the rest in the list is terrible B movies of some sort... But Black is obviously known for Iron Man 3. And as someome who watched most of MCU I can confirm that Iron Man 3 was a very controversial movie for many fans. So, I really don't know.. AvPr has Wolf but thanks to that movie we don't get any more crossovers. But 2018 movie would probably even burry Predator franchise if no Prey...

Could the jungle hunter Yautja survive on Isla Nublar from Jurassic park? I think he could survive for a significant amount of time before being killed by the abominations on the island.

Like I'm sorry but it cant just be me can it?

Just once I want a film where the Predators hunt is successful I want to see if theres some sort of post hunt ritual without having to dive into dozens of comic books just to find it plus the predator dying to regular ass humans every time is getting kinda old imo

Why predators never win?

I mean, imagine if in the end of Prey, the movie went in another direction. I wished they never killed Taabe, and actually Naru and her brother fought against the beast untill the end, and on the final battle, the predator kills her brother and take his skull right in front of her, Naru watching, and in the last second she manages to run away, could be by feet, or with water involved, on a boat or something i dont know (that way the predator would never be able to catch her and she can still look at him, and the creature at her, with her brothers head in his hand)...Then the movie ends with her looking at the creature with a 😠 face, the predator wins, then in prey 2 she gets her revenge.

Predator vs Wolverine collected edition(Barnes &Noble exclusive)

Got this bad boy for $19.99. Has a different cover and some extra “making of” pages at the back. Worth the price of admission I believe… still available online.

I don't know where I've been for all these years not to notice City Hunter has the same face structure as Wolf Predator. Spiked head, double fangs, darkened eyes... Just watched Predator 2 and noticed all this.

Guess they lie about the beer. When you got your second your attention is sharpened.

Have a great weekend all! Predator rules!

My philosophical take on "Predator" (1987).

I recently watched "Predator" for the first time in years and, while I liked it in the beginning, I have a much greater appreciation for it now. To be fair, I did watch it on THC gummies and I immediately developed a much more deeper, philosophical open-ended view on the film. Let me explain:

For the sake of my argument, I'm going to skip to the middle of the movie since the beginning is too comical to critique (although some of it will appear in my final summary). While the movie has often been a commentary on the concept of "Toxic Masculinity" (which it certainly is), you can make several other observations about Predator. The movie takes place in the 1980s South America during the Cold War. We see Communists rebels and Soviet officials trying to influence the local population on their beliefs, likewise, so are the Americans (i.e. The Monroe Doctrine). I noticed that the Predator creature strangely avoided attacking the rebel camp. You could say that the Predator was eventually going to attack the rebel encampment had the Americans not showed up, but I kinda disagree. Recall that the American soldiers had found the skinned bodies of their comrades BEFORE Arnold attacked the camp; hinting that the creature was already in the area before the Americans arrived, yet DIDN'T attack the rebel camp FIRST. I (as a mild Socialist), "could" code the Predator as somewhat of a Socialist antihero, or, a hero standing up against American Imperialism. Obviously, not "Socialist" in an overtly political sense, but more how some South Americas saw the Americans and Capitalism in general; as an oppressive, occupying force to subjugate the populace. In this instance, the Predator can be seen as a defender of the native population against Imperialism- if you want to make that connection. I also observed Anna's (Elpidia Carrillo) behavior during the film in which she tells the Carl Weathers character that "the jungle came alive". She says that several times and couldn't help but postulate if she (or her pre-Columbian ancestors) had encountered this creature in the distant past and worshipped it as a God creature. I say that because Anna seems more terrified around the Americans than the actual creature. Question: Is Anna more afraid of the creature eventually killing her eventually or is she MORE afraid for the soldiers who have no idea what they're dealing with but yet continue to?

Another concept of the film that I analyzed was in the field of hubris and arrogance. In the beginning of the film, it's the Americans (with testosterone and bravado in full) who believe that they will quickly dominate and secure the crisis (the attack against the camp), for example, but this soon finds that they're in over their heads. After the murder of all the soldiers except Dutch, we see the Predator become more obsessed with killing Dutch, the creature is also injured, so, he's even more desperate, this becomes careless. It could be possible that, since the creature has to learn about humans and their behavior, the Predator learned the same mistakes that the other humans had. Arrogance, fear, obsession, and pride. In a way, the haphazard attack the Predator conducts against the jungle is similar to the humans reaction to the murder of the Jesse Ventura character at the beginning of the movie. This time, the tables have turned: it is now the alien that's on the defensive and the hat has been tipped in favor of Dutch. The alien has learned the mistakes of the humans to its own peril. It also comments on the role technology Vs. instinct. The Americans believed in their superior military technology to quickly overwhelm the enemy camp but very little on instinct beyond covert military strategy. At the end of the film, the tables are turned and it's now the predator who overwhelmingly relies on his pulse gun and laser site. Notice how he has difficulty trying to ascertain Dutch's exact location. Dutch now uses his instincts as well trained soldier and his utilization of his natural surroundings to his advantage against the technology of the Predator, who solely relies on technology to apprehend and kill Dutch. Dutch also uses night to his advantage which I found very interesting since one would think that night is the Predator's ideal environment. I do have a theory about why that is. Dutch's character is much more mellow and low-key, not brash and borish like the others. The Predator has to constantly adapt and work around this issue since Dutch may be his most difficult yet, despite him being a mere human.

Lastly, let me briefly touch upon the "What the hell are you" scene. You can look at it as either the Predator has no language at all or a language incomprehensible to humans OR that he simply regurgitates words He's heard and repeats them back. Like a serial killer using cryptic phrases to taunt the authorities and scare the public. It's also possible that he understands the cunning and deception tactics that humans use in combat and use it to his advantage. It can also be possible that humanity's version of war is also just alien to the Predator. He's a hunter who hunts for sport whereas humans seem to go to war over trivial matters like land, resources, and wealth. To the Predator's POV, this is a sign of immaturity and not true warrior combat. The creature, despite being around humans for a short time, has picked up on how cruel and evil humans can be to each other. Hell, we even see Mac kill an innocent scorpion not to mention all the trees and wildlife the humans killed during their machine gun firing scene. This is not to say the Predator is a pacifist by any means, he's obviously capable of incredible acts of violence and cruelty, but he channels it when he needs it. Notice how the Predator doesn't kill people who are unarmed. You could say that Predator has a more honest warrior code than the human. He's asking the rhetorical question back to Dutch (the human) because he can't understand human combat culture as it is truly alien to him and he hates it because it's not honorable.

In conclusion, what is Predator? What does he represent in a broader aspect? Is he a formidable (although not invincible) force of nature? Is he an unintentional symbol of Third World resistance against colonialism and Imperialism? Is he a critique of toxic masculinity framed as moral and acceptable ( That "Socialism= weak manhood, Capitalism=Toxic Masculinity=good") argument, or, could he be an amalgamation of everything wrong with our species: hate, greed, violence, and fear. Maybe Predator is giving us humans a taste of our own medicine?

Sorry for the long explanation but I had to get this off my chest.

Agree or disagree?

A love letter to Predator: Concrete Jungle (2005)

Here we go, this week I was feeling a bit nostalgic, so I decided to replay my favorite PlayStation 2 game growing up, Predator: Concrete Jungle. I wanted to see if the game was really as good as I remembered, or if it was just illusions shaped by all these years passing by, nostalgia, or the mind of a happy child who grew up addicted to movies featuring this 8-foot tall hunter. And my friends, what a pleasant surprise.

I'd like to start by dissecting the game's biggest criticisms before discussing the positives. People often complain about the game's controls, but I think it's an exaggeration; it took about 10 minutes to memorize all the buttons, and now I don't even remember they exist. Were the graphics a bit poor at the time? Maybe, but that doesn't matter because the game has a very unique and creative identity of its own; honestly, I don't think it has aged poorly.

Story:

I'm a big fan of the fact that this game doesn't take itself seriously; it's a mix of comedy, action, nonsense, and gore, reminiscent of comic books, and it's full of funny and quirky characters. In it, we face a gang of Rastafarians clearly inspired by King Willie and his crew in Predator 2, we face a gang of Mexicans dressed as lucha libre wrestlers, high-tech prostitutes, drug addicts immune to pain due to using so much drugs they become numb, among other unexpected teams and gangs, which make the game very interesting, unpredictable, and impossible to replicate nowadays, especially because we live in such a politically correct society; this last factor makes me have even more respect for the game after all these years. And speaking of time, the story of this game takes place in two different periods, in the past and in the future, with more emphasis on a dystopian cyberpunk future, reminiscent of great sci-fi classics like Robocop and Blade Runner, where large corporations control the world, and where crime controls the underworld.

I think it's a must-play game for fans of Predator (and Aliens), and it still makes you feel like you're the hunter, with a lot of gameplay variation due to the large number of weapons and gadgets, as well as having various unlockable outfits from the main films of the saga.

Before finishing this love letter, I would like to note the CRIME that is not having a remake of this game, or a completely new game consistent with today's standards. And about that, I will describe here how the Predator game of my dreams would be today:

A single-player, third-person open-world game with RPG elements, set in a huge map divided between city and forest, to the delight of all fans. The Predator would be fully customizable, able to change skin color, eye color, hair and nail length, as well as height and shape of the alien, with great alien parkour and alot of blood. A game inspired by the old Assassin's Creed games and the Hitman series, allowing us to complete hunts in various different ways, with different weapons and builds, which would be quite varied so that the community could choose their preferred way to play. I still personally think that the game should indeed take inspiration from Concrete Jungle; this futuristic yet decadent setting we see in Predator 2, Blade Runner, and Robocop is still quite difficult to find, and still very original, and it goes very well with the Predator.

And thats it guys, see ya

So, I tried to watch Requiem again..

You probably will not hear much of the new in this post but I just wanted to share some fresh opinions of mine as someone, who is basically series fan most of his life (I know that here most of us are, but still).

So, I saw it probably only once when it came out and yes, even now I can confirm that it's indeed very hard to watch it. And I had to skip some sections of it. I am not any kind of writer myself but the script is written in super strange way, in my opinion. But what's really suprising , it's that there are good moments in there (like Wolf killing aliens, obviously), and between them we need to watch something either cringe, or super gross/disgusting and then sometimes we literally can't see anything at all!..

First movie is not perfect but it's good and I will die on this hill. If you will criticize it, then go on with many different sci-fi movies of 90s or even 80s based or not based on comics. First AvP has vibes of both adventure and horror and it mostly works. AvPR went for some kind of small town USA horror direction. Kinda strange way for movie where we want to see predator and aliens fighting but whatever. But then there is also strange decisions in writing, like, for example, Wolf skinning deputy of sheriff for no reason beside of fan-service which only destroys his character, or strange romantic line going from somehwere to nowhere. Speaking of which, I think we still can symphatize to hot blondie because eventually she dumps bully for our "good guy" and her death in the end is also kinda... Lame?.. like why she is panicking and runs away only to die from Wolf's discs, if before that she actually was behaving kinda more "sane"?.. And then we get two brothers surviving, so brotherhood/family forever and all that, I guess. But two brothers relationships are shown even worse than strange romantic line, in my opinion. Btw I still can't understand why aliens did not kill them both when they went to look for the keys. Weird plot armor?.. Also, how the keys could have been taken by water if they are made of metal?. There wasn't any kind of strong stream for them to flow, Idk..

So, concluding this post, it's just super sad that this is the sequel what we got and this is what has lead to fact that after we didn't get anything at all.

P.S. Besides of super disgusting moments (which are still not justified, in my opinion, the point of movie is predator and aliens fighting and this is what many of us wanted to actully see, is it not?) there are also many plotholes, like, starting from very beginning - instead of huge mothership we see small scout ship and then it crushes (one of predator "panicked" shooting plasma caster knowing its not safe?) and distress signal goes to Wolf on Yauja Prime while whole mothership is probably chilling... Somewhere.. And then Wolf goes on cleaning mission alone for some reason... And basically fails as he dies in the end and humans still get predator tech.. 🤦🤷

P.P.S. Was the younger brother trying to masturbate on hot blondie while in the car before delivering pizza or what was that scene? WTF? 🤦😵

I loved AVP but hated the design of the Predators.

They swapped out the slim athletic build for a more stout one. They reminded me of kids in football pads.

Predator games?

Does anyone know of any games in production or in consideration by a studio? Other than Predator:Hunting grounds we've got no modern Gen predator games. How a single player predator game where we make our own yautja and hunt across the galaxy hasn't been made I don't know. I know disney currently owns the license but I truly believe a predator game like this would sell purely off the IP.

This was my jam as when I was a kid. It was my intro game into RTS games. Would give my skull and spine for a sequel

Games hard as balls, but very enjoyable. They made all 3 species unique and fun to play. The Bestiary was fun to read, just to understand the strength and weaknesses of each species and I had a total blast playing through the game.
