Welcome to /r/pocatello! Pocatello is home to Idaho State University, City Creek Trails, some of the best brewery/wineries in the state, and one of the best life styles one could ask for. Join us as we celebrate the biggest small town in Idaho that we gladly call home!
*1. Advertising is okay, just as long as it's for a Pocatello business.
*2. Even though this is /r/Pocatello, It has been decided that posts pertaining to closer cities such as Lava Hot Springs, Blackfoot, and Idaho Falls will be allowed as long as it is a popular event (State Fair, Dogapoolooza, etc.)
*3. Keep it friendly, keep it clean. This should go without saying. However, this is the internet.
*4. Please keep the political/religious posts to the realm of good taste. If your church/ward/drum circle is hosting a community event, feel free to post. If your son is being baptized, post it to your facebook instead.
5. No sketchy links. If you would like to post a photo, the image *must** be hosted via Imgur.com

I'm an exmember of UBC and was hoping to connect with other former members. I made a thread for it r/leavingubc, if anyone is interested.
How's your town? It's got a job opportunity for me and it's close to family, so I might be moving.
Is it walking/biking friendly? Any good food, fun stuff to do? Is it infested with racists and bigots?
Moving to Pocatello as a grad student. Is the bus system reliable? Any info I should know? I prefer to take public transit if I can as 1) it will reduce my spending in gas, and 2) I just generally prefer to reduce my environmental footprint where reasonable. Can I reasonably expect to get to the university, to the grocery store, etc.? I see the bus schedules online, but I’ll admit where I live we have a huge issue with buses not showing up at their scheduled time, or like every other bus showing up, which would not work for me trying to get to classes.
Hey I just turned 21 and am wondering are there any bars to dodge in Pocatello. Are there any certain ones known for hookup culture or other bs Just want a calm place to drink and meet cool people
Did anybody else feel an earthquake today or am I just going crazy? I was sitting on my couch when the ground starting rumbling and my dog perked up. I looked out my window and there were no large trucks going by or anything that could have caused the shaking. It went on for a few seconds. Wasn’t sure if anybody else felt anything. Happened around 3:10.
I'm looking to replace the dying shrubs and bushes in my front yard with something new and lower maintenance. I've tried calling several people who advertise themselves as landscapers, but I can't get anyone to return my calls. It seems nobody wants to take my money.
Anybody have any recommendations for a reputable landscaping company in town that wants some business.
I turned 21 recently and was looking to get out and make friends and have some fun. What are some good bars or something where I can meet more people my age and make some friends?
Does anyone know of a voice/singing instructor for adults. The ones I’ve been finding online seem geared more towards children, getting them ready for musicals and productions.
I was planning on heading over to Lei's Mongolian BBQ for my birthday here in a few days, but Google says it's temporarily closed.
I haven't been over there to see if they have more info/signage up (it's across town).
Does anybody have any info on when they might be open again?
Is there a place to take old bikes to get fixed and reused?
I have been looking at some houses around town and wondering if homes on the west side of the freeway in this area get a lot of noise from the trains. Looks like a switching area before it gets into the larger rail yard downtown.
I graduated college and got a new job in this town, however, I struggle to meet people of similar age since I arrived.
I am not affiliated to any church nor do I believe in anything. I am from a very different culture than what idahoan would consider local.
Can anyone give me any points on how to socialize with like minded people? I work full time but be happy to look into what ISU can do in this case.
I travel for work, I'm coming into town in a couple weeks, March 8th, and I'llbe there for 10 days. I'm wondering what there is to do since I've never been. I work pretty much all day, so I really can't go sight-seeing or go to any museums or anything, so I'm hoping ya'll can give me some suggestions for nighttime activities. I'm a sucker for local favorites, things I can only find in the area I'm going to, good food, and uniqueness in general, so anything that fills those niches would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to ask any questions if you think it'd help.

I've only DM'd online and ran a laid back 11 month campaign for me and 3 out-of-state friends. Now that we're done, I'd like to try and play in-person. I've been looking for local games but I'm not finding much. I'm interested in potentially starting a campaign or joining another group. Anyone know where I can find more current local gaming info? Or is anyone interested?
Update: Like I said in a comment below, I really didn't expect to get a response or have anyone show interest so I'm genuinely surprised by you guys lol I'm excited!
I can set up a group Discord, that way everyone can start chatting and learning about each other. It might take me a minute to get that done but I'll send the invite to each of you when I am.
Hello, my family are being relocated to Pocatello in the next few months and have been looking into the schools in the area.
So I want to ask those with experience, is Connor Academy a lot better, a little better, the same, or worse than the public school systems in the area?
Edit: Thank you everyone for your comments! I should add that we will be in the “Highland”
area, does that make it more of a charter/private school situation or a public is fine one?
Thinking about heading over to Pocatello this weekend to ski Pebble Creek for the first time.
A little worried with this warmer weather. h
Has anyone gone this week? How is the snowpack holding up?
Are there any family friendly pagan groups in Pocatello? My wife and I would like to take our kids to do some things and learn a bit about the pagan holidays. Like for instance we are planning on making brigids cross for imbolc as a family and teaching our kids about but about our beliefs. Just think the kids would have a bit more fun with other kids their age to participate with. Thank you
Just as the title asks. I was driving down Yellowstone to head to Walmart to grab a couple of things. I was driving cautiously the whole way to the store but had some trouble on the way back even while driving cautiously. I was about to be at the light when it turned yellow at the worst time possible. I wasn't even doing the speed limit, about 5-10 under it, but I was going too fast to be able to stop in time and when I tried to brake or even pump the brakes, I slid through it, but honked while doing so to alert other drivers. However, I was going too slow to be able to beat the red light. So now here's the question because I know there's a camera at that light, will I still get a ticket?
Edit: I appreciate all the responses, definitely lets me breathe a sigh of relief because I still have a clean driving record and I would hate for it to be affected by something as silly as this.
I'm looking for buisnesses that either have bulletin boards for public use, or will let me hang flyers. I'm essentially looking to start a club.
