What’s everyone’s go to 2way radios? Looking for something with hopefully around a 1 mile range and durable.
Looking for recommendations on weather pods/tents. Our son plays baseball and football and we are constantly out in the weather with our toddler and newborn. I have read horrible reviews from amazon on most of the pods/tents advertised and was looking for some insight from someone who may actually use them. We will need one that fits 3-4 people.
I have the columbia crestwood (high version). And they are waterproof, but im going on a hike where you walk in water which can reach up to 3ft high. Can i wear them of will it ruin them?
(I must wear those or sport shoes, no sandals)
I want to get a jacket mid layer and I have decided that the material needs to contain at least some merino wool and then I will wear a down jacket on top when I need to. I looked and came across a pure wool jacket made from 90% merino and 10% cashmere and it's really cheap. I could buy it but it's thin and I'm wondering about if it would actually be that warm compared to a merino/polyester/elastane blend. Firstly, the blend jacket looks slightly thicker. You can't see bits of light shine through like you can with the pure jacket. Secondly, the actual blend itself might be warmer but idk so that's why I'm asking. Thirdly, it's got an elasticated fit but I'm also not sure if that would make me warmer so I want to know about that too. The blend jacket also has better construction but that's just because it is a more complicated jacket whereas the pure jacket is just a simple knit. But the blend jacket is also more than twice the price. I get cold really really easily so warmth is a primary concern. Which type of construction should I go for?
I am on shoot in fields and can feel the impact of wind at the end of the day. Is there any wind resistant balaclava/hat you would be able to recommend? Something not necessarily very warm would be best as the weather is getting warmer. Maybe something you could layer in the colder months? Thanks
I live in London, UK. As per the title, I do have one Patagonia Calcite Men’s Goretex, one The North Face Men’s Drizzle Jacket and one The North Face Men’s Thermoball eco, all M size, to sell.
All of them original, pretty new and in great conditions, used only a few times. I bought TNF jackets in London and the Patagonia jacket online. All of them are 2018-2019 styles. I’m selling them now because I bought new gear for a Patagonia trip I had in January. What are the best sites where I could sell used gear? Thanks!
The lace holes are rubbing on the top of my feet and the lace cover has already ripped.
I cannot find online any review about this tent. Does anyone here have it and can give some impressions/evaluation of it? I’m looking for my first all-season hiking tent and thought this could be a good option
I can't stand Patagonia or REI for personal reasons Is there any outdoor brands you would recommend not super popular or main stream. Looking for outdoor clothes And knife brands outdoor survival
I’m looking to buy a pair of bedrock clogs in Canada and found bedrocksandals-canada.com. It looks a little scammy. Has anyone ordered from here?
Does anyone have any recommendations for waterproof pants? I’ll be travelling to South America soon and looking for something that will withstand rainy conditions.
Hi, anyone have opinions on a jacket I can wear over dress shirts, with dress pants, that isn't too bulky. Has a bit more thickness than say a North Face Nano, and is waterproof? Looking for something I can wear around 30 degrees and up, possibly something to throw on even during a cool summer day if it's chilly or raining. I have a dog and trying to find something not as bulky as my winter jacket, and is waterpoof. I was looking at the Helly Hansen crew 2.0
Looking at buying one of these two coats, but I am not sure which. I was leaning towards the one with the wool lining, as it looks super warm, but I am worried on two fronts. Will it to be warm when doing anything but sitting around, and will it be bad to have the wool been part of the coat if water gets in?
I am not a big time hiker, I usually just do 1 - 2 night camping/hiking trips with about 10 - 15 km walked a day depending on terrain.
Thinking it might be better to stick to a distinct layering system?
PS. I understand the downsides of waxed cotton

Hi all, I hope this is okay to post here. I've created a sub for people interested in renovating/refurbing/repairing paraffin pressure lamps and stoves, aka "fettling"

It's not just for those from the UK, but I thought it only fair to put down some kind of geographic location so people know!
Feel free to have a look and join in. I'd like it to be aimed more at the skills and techniques used, rather than buying/selling/valuations. I've added some posts about the lamps I'm currently working on.
Hope you find it interesting, and I'd love to know any feedback you have!
I’m a wildlife photographer. I frequently find myself hiking in remote meadows with heavy dew. Any advice on some pants? I’ve been using heavy canvas, but they immediately get wet. If it gets really nasty, I use goretex bibs.
That will work in conjunction with my mud layers to keep me warm. I hate being cold in the wind when I’m hiking or snow shoeing. I’m based in the US
Hi guys, I am currently woking on a university project about the demographics of different outdoor sports. It would mean the world to me if you would participate in this short survey I have created for this cause. It is completely anonymous, the information you provide will not be attributable to you personally. Thank you all and have a nice day!
Hi everybody, sorry to bother you all. I am working on a business project and I need survey responses from people who surf/anyone whose interested in surfing. If you could help circulate this link that'd be great! Thank you!
Hello! Any locals to Telluride / Montrose willing to rent me some camping chairs, a cooler, and two bikes in mid-June? Will pay!
I like trekking poles but I think they would work great as survival tools. I imagine add ons to trekking poles such as a camera mount for go pros or phones and an added fire starter for the hardcore hiker. Let me know what you all think!
