Hi,
I just bought an Rab Electron Pro but it doens't come with a stuff sack anymore.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a good stuff sack, that fits the Electron Pro?
thanks!
I use my reading glasses when doing outdoor activities. I keep breaking chains or having the sleeve pull off the glasses stem and then break my glasses.
Rugged glass holder recommendations?
I am usually very warm and get hot and sweaty easily. I'm looking for a hooded jacket that is slightly warmer than a sweatshirt for daily use (I walk 30 mins a day).
I need some wind resistance. I'll trade lack of water resistance for more breathability.
Ideally it has arm pit vents, too.
Thank you!
Trying to build a rope swing in my backyard. I know I need polypropylene rope at least 3/4 inches or so. It needs to support 200 lbs. Found a couple of different ropes, large range in prices. Anyone know if the cheaper ones are sketchy or would I be ok buying them?

Also open to other suggestions.
I live in berlin and I am planning to buy parka from mountain warehouse and found this with good price is it worth to buy it
https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/de/traverse-wasserdichte-herren-daunenjacke-p42864.aspx/marine/
In case of any confusion I am referring to the discontinued hardshell, not the stormshadowl or windshadow insulated jackets.
I really like mine in terms of looks, durability and weather protection, but unless its the absolute coldest of cold days I find it way too stuffy and I overheat in it almost instantly.
It's kept me dry as a bone in some heavy downpours but I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same issue in terms of breathability (I understand it's a highly debated concept) but if so, what jacket did you replace it with, if you decided to go for another option.
I've got a montane minimus and a rab cinder downpour for warmer weather, but I'm thinking about getting the OR Foray 2 for colder months, seeing as I run hotter than most.
Any other suggestions from people who are in the same boat?
Thanks!
I am looking at buying a new jacket. I found a great price on this model, but buying online I always have doubts about the size. I am 188cm (6.2ft) tall and weigh 88kg (194lb) with an athletic build. Are any of you familiar with this brand and can give me a suggestion? I was thinking of buying an XL...
I want a jacket which keep me warm in -20c temperature and have good price Here is the Jacket I have choosen Tell me is this a good choice

We’re farmers, so handling lots of different weather conditions and textures through the work day.
My husband has very sweaty hands, but also has reynaud’s in his hands. The struggle is finding a durable enough glove that allows for dexterity that also allows some breathing for when his hands start sweating.
Someone had recommended wearing a thin pair of cotton gloves inside another pair of gloves, but he found it too constraining.
He also wears size XXL, so finding gloves that fit in general can be a challenge.
TIA
For context: I have ~ 300$ in online store credits from Helly Hensen.
I am in need for all purpose, daily wear, versatile shell (hard or soft, open for both) jacket from HH.
Few contenders that I am considering:
Drop your fav HH daily wear shell jacket :)
Hi all, I just got a pair of Teva Tirra sandals for an upcoming trip. Them seem to bit well, but I'm a little worried the back ankle strap is rubbing a bit against the back of my ankle (near the Achilles). Does anyone have any recommendations for breaking these shoes in?
My trip is in a few days so please don't comment to get a new pair of sandals!
Hello,
I'm looking for my first active insulation layer.
I've tried on the Mammut Rime in Flex yesterday in the store, really nice jacket and fitted me well.
But i've found out that it's not really helmet compatable, which i would like an active insulation jacket to be.
I normally run cold, so that why i didn't try the Rime Light in Flex.
Activities i would like to use it for: Day hiking, hiking and skiing (hence the helmet part).
So far, of the quality brands, i've only found the Arc'teryx Atom hoody to be what i'm looking for.
I don't mind the price, but i'm wondering if i'm overlooking other brands and jackets that would fit my criteria. Could use some advice.
Thanks!
Hey guys, I don't use Reddit much but I feel like this might be the best place to ask. I know there are tons of content creators talking about outdoor gear. Some of them do it for pure passion, some just like to get cool stuff in exchange for their nice reviews etc. But I was thinking about starting an IG page revealing some shadows on some products out there and I need your opinion if it could be interesting or not.
I don't know if there's anyone doing reviews from a highly technical perspective. Yeah, everyone could say "breathability is good, the DWR is working ok and the fabric is light", but do they know how a jacket is made? I'm asking because I've been working on these kind of products (mostly clothing gear) for years and recently I've been thinking that I've seen so many "curious" things.
For example, did you know that there's a specific brand, which is one of the best high end manufacturers around, that is constantly having problems with its armpit zips? And did you know that there's a well known brand who recently made a waterproof jacket and thought that seamtaping 70% of the seams was enough? Not bad for a +400$ worth gear, uh?
So, before starting to work on my archive (don't worry, I've seen a lot of good stuff too and I'd love to talk about that too), I'd love to hear your opinion.
I would like to buy a light insulated jacket for everyday use incl traveling. So for me the jacket should weight below 450g and should be as warm as possible. Which jacket can you recommend and which one of these is the warmest (durability is more important than breathability):
BD First Light Stretch
Rab Xenair Alpine Light
TNF Summit Casaval
Arc'teryx Atom (is a little too pricy)
Helly Hansen Odin Stretch Insulator 2.0 (seems heavier but with more insulation - not far away from Rab Xenair Alpine, which is a bit to heavy and warm)
Montane Fireball
Patagonia Nano Air (probably the most breathable piece but potentially less warm?)
So far I am aiming towards Xenair or Casaval.
I’m looking for some solid rain gear to keep me dry and comfortable while working construction in wet weather. I need something durable that can handle tough conditions, provide good mobility, and doesn’t break the bank.
Here’s what I’m specifically looking for:
I work long hours outdoors, so comfort and durability are key. If you’ve got any personal recommendations or tips on what to look for, I’d really appreciate it.
Like the title says, I’m looking for a new 0 degree sleeping bag as well as a pillow to go with it.
Not trying to break the bank.
I'm looking for a budget-friendly tent for 2-3 people (it's for trips with my boyfriend). We often go on full-day treks, and sometimes overnight ones, so we're prioritizing a lightweight and durable tent (we don’t use it heavily, just one or two short trips per year, and never in winter).
So far, we’re considering two options:
Do you have any better suggestions within this price range? Or does one of these two stand out as significantly better than the other?
Thanks in advance!
Hello! Looking for some guidance please.
I'm eyeing this jacket: https://www.hellyhansen.com/en_ca/crew-hooded-midlayer-jacket-2-34442?color=290548
It's labelled as a midlayer but I'm wondering if I could get away with it as an outerlayer.
I'm mainly thinking city commute. It gets pretty windy where I am and I'm looking for it to be good for -10C.
I'm thinking a base layer, fleece, down vest and then the Helly Hansen jacket.
I'm also looking for some versatility so I can use it for snowshoeing in the mountains (and maybe skiing).
Thanks thoughts you guys and gals have would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Hello, first time reddit user. Apologies, didnt know where to ask.
I have a fiskars folding shovel or e-tool. I wanted a better molle compatable sheath/holster for it. I bought a generic one assuming they would all be similar sized but this tool didnt fit nicely. Just wondering if someone has the tool and could suggest a decent pouch for it. Fiskars 100621 folding shovel.
TIA
Hai! I'm seeking a charger and possibly extra batteries for my MotionHeat / Power in Motion heated gloves. Or even a pair of their short-lived ski gloves in medium. Does anyone have any or know a place to get them without paying $20 shipping from Canada for a charger?
Thanks!

I'm trying to find a winter hat that is windproof that has holes in it for my glasses. Does anybody know of a good option? It's like the picture but not a helmet liner which seems to be all i can find. I DO have a helmet liner cap like this but it's not really that warm. I'm currently using a windproof sealskinz beanie (without glasses holes) which is great but It's getting pretty ratty and it still starts to hurt after wearing it for hours at a time which is required because I work outside.
Future is uncertain, so what's the best backpack I can get, a long with a jacket that has sizes for fat people? Backpack needs to be able to hold a laptop, phone chargers, and Alot of supplies with a tough handle and straps that won't break under its weight
And any suggestions for boots that come in wide sizes? All the suggestions are appreciated
