I would like to buy a light insulated jacket for everyday use incl traveling. So for me the jacket should weight below 500g and should be as warm as possible. Which jacket can you recommend and which one of these is the warmest (durability is more important than breathability):
BD First Light Stretch Rab Xenair Alpine Light TNF Summit Casaval Arc'teryx Atom
I’m looking for some solid rain gear to keep me dry and comfortable while working construction in wet weather. I need something durable that can handle tough conditions, provide good mobility, and doesn’t break the bank.
Here’s what I’m specifically looking for:
I work long hours outdoors, so comfort and durability are key. If you’ve got any personal recommendations or tips on what to look for, I’d really appreciate it.
Like the title says, I’m looking for a new 0 degree sleeping bag as well as a pillow to go with it.
Not trying to break the bank.
I'm looking for a budget-friendly tent for 2-3 people (it's for trips with my boyfriend). We often go on full-day treks, and sometimes overnight ones, so we're prioritizing a lightweight and durable tent (we don’t use it heavily, just one or two short trips per year, and never in winter).
So far, we’re considering two options:
Do you have any better suggestions within this price range? Or does one of these two stand out as significantly better than the other?
Thanks in advance!
Hello! Looking for some guidance please.
I'm eyeing this jacket: https://www.hellyhansen.com/en_ca/crew-hooded-midlayer-jacket-2-34442?color=290548
It's labelled as a midlayer but I'm wondering if I could get away with it as an outerlayer.
I'm mainly thinking city commute. It gets pretty windy where I am and I'm looking for it to be good for -10C.
I'm thinking a base layer, fleece, down vest and then the Helly Hansen jacket.
I'm also looking for some versatility so I can use it for snowshoeing in the mountains (and maybe skiing).
Thanks thoughts you guys and gals have would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Hello, first time reddit user. Apologies, didnt know where to ask.
I have a fiskars folding shovel or e-tool. I wanted a better molle compatable sheath/holster for it. I bought a generic one assuming they would all be similar sized but this tool didnt fit nicely. Just wondering if someone has the tool and could suggest a decent pouch for it. Fiskars 100621 folding shovel.
TIA
Hai! I'm seeking a charger and possibly extra batteries for my MotionHeat / Power in Motion heated gloves. Or even a pair of their short-lived ski gloves in medium. Does anyone have any or know a place to get them without paying $20 shipping from Canada for a charger?
Thanks!

I'm trying to find a winter hat that is windproof that has holes in it for my glasses. Does anybody know of a good option? It's like the picture but not a helmet liner which seems to be all i can find. I DO have a helmet liner cap like this but it's not really that warm. I'm currently using a windproof sealskinz beanie (without glasses holes) which is great but It's getting pretty ratty and it still starts to hurt after wearing it for hours at a time which is required because I work outside.
Future is uncertain, so what's the best backpack I can get, a long with a jacket that has sizes for fat people? Backpack needs to be able to hold a laptop, phone chargers, and Alot of supplies with a tough handle and straps that won't break under its weight
And any suggestions for boots that come in wide sizes? All the suggestions are appreciated
I have a nearly-20-year-old North Face jacket that has been so awesome for me. I’ve had it since I was 18 years old (just out of high school). It’s looking pretty outdated and has stains, etc. but has otherwise been water and wind resistant, has well-insulated arms, and has only required one extra shirt (not even a jacket!) to stay warm even in temps in the 20s. I’ve used it for xc skiing and snowshoeing and sledding and snow has never melted into the fabric and made me damp.
I recently bought a North Face insulated shell, but it is incredible how poorly the arms are insulated… even when I had two thick layers underneath! I swear that jackets aren’t made as well as they were 15, 20 years ago across the board…
Anyway… I am looking for something like my current North Face (something that will cover my rear, too). I’ve read so many reviews of some of the best brands out there with poor insulation issues and I’m so hesitant to make any purchases as a result.
Needing a pair of Moab 3 GTXs but the only place I can find them is the official Merrell store and they’re sold out in every size but one.
I'm looking for a black softshell jacket with a double-ended zip. I am in an electric wheelchair and therefore won't be generating much warmth from exercise, and I'd like it to be moderately water resistant and windproof. I'll probably wear it on its own or under a bigger coat. Any recommendations?
Hi everyone! I’m coming onto this Reddit page because I need your input! My boyfriend loves the outdoors, loves to fish, camp etc etc. For Christmas I wanted to gift him a cooler, and have small gifts inside like a life straw, life straw bottle, things of that sort. Do you have any recommendations :
A) on a good cooler that won’t break the bank like yeti? I’ve heard that RTIC is good but I don’t know what model to get him (soft cooler hard cooler?)
B) what small gifts can I add in the cooler as well?
All your input is so tremendously appreciated! Cheers :)
(Budget is around 300-350$)
I have had several heated coats. They all have a special battery connector that only connects to that jacket. I have lots of extra rechargable batteries that I use for phones and devices. It would be nice to have a jacket or vest that could run off of any usb battery. I want to buy my own battery.
People don’t realize how outdoorsy living in NYC actually is! I walk 3-5 miles a day outside and with the rain / cold it’s not fun that I don’t have a proper outdoorsy coat. I just have a wool coat, layers, thermals.
I’ve done the whole puffer thing but it just gets soaked thru in the snow and rain, Id rather wear the high quality wool. This current job I walk particularly far to work everyday, the wind is intense. I wish I had proper outdoorsy gear.
I’d love to hear recommendations for a cold weather down coat that is waterproof. I try buy secondhand when I can so any recommendation you have for an item new or something that used to be around I’ll try to find it on ebay or second hand website.
Im a woman but I wear men’s coats usually for comfort. Open to any suggestions.
Hey everyone,
I'm a college student majoring in advertising, and I'm doing a class project about people's perceptions of The North Face. To help me with my research, I would really appreciate it if you would take this survey:

The survey should only take 5 mins, all responses are anonymous, and it just asks you general questions about your thoughts about the brand. Thank you for your time!

Hi guys! My friends and I have decided we want to start going on hiking trips together, and I have no idea where to even start for a good jacket? Ideally, I want to get lots of wear out of it, so does anyone know where I can go for something good quality but also suitable for a 23 year old?? My mum told me to visit mountain warehouse but that's what I mean I kind of want somehting that is a bit more stylish? If that exists!
For comfort temperature -10 till -30 Celcius
I've had a couple of Rab Cirrus Alpines recently where the logo's started peeling off. It's annoying as I really like them, and they're good for bad Scottish weather.
As an alternative I'm looking at the Patagonia Nano Puff and Micro Puff. Is there anything North Face have that also rivals?
Just looking for a general jacket for the uk that can deal with winter, some rain etc
Hey, all. I run cold. At 60-65F, I already have a hoodie on. At my work desk, I have the AC pouring on me all day. (Upside, it's white noise, so I don't hear much around me.)
I've been thinking about maybe getting more serious on trying to keep myself warm through my normal day (errands, work, family stuff). I've had a look around here, and see that things like Patagonia R1 and Arcteryx Atom (I think it was) are highly rated. I see they're also way more expensive than a standard hoodie, like the Old Navy sherpa fleece I typically wear.
Besides weight and style, what are the major differences between one of the tech fleeces and a fluffy $50 hoodie? Also, anything you'd recommend? Preferably full zip, hood optional.
Hello everyone!
We are a group from the Technical University of Denmark, currently working on improving the trekking pole as part of a design course. In this connection, we have a few questions that we hope you can help us answer. It would be a great help if you could respond to some of the following questions:
If you have any additional insights, we would love for you to share them as well.
Thank you so much in advance!
Has anyone used any of the omni heat jackets? Is it noticeably warmer than a similar weight jacket without reflective elements?
Hi,
I am part of a senior Product Design class at UW-Madison. We are given the task of designing a new wheelbarrow. If you could please fill out this survey that would be amazing. Should take less than 3 minutes.
Thanks
