Hello everyone, I have a rem 700 tactical and want to put a can on it and want to get the barrel threaded. Can you guys recommend anyone in the area that could do the work?
Recently submitted my CCW in Arlington County. I’ve seen that the turnaround time can vary, so curious to see how long it took folks that recently go theirs in the past month or two.
DM us on social media or email us if you're interested! Each course will be $250 and will last most of the day. I can’t upload more than one image in this sub or in the comments. The easiest way to view all the information for these courses is to look on our social media. I’ll leave a link in the comments.
There is some gear you’ll need to attend. You’ll need 300 rounds of ammo, eye/ear protection, a packable lunch, and water for both courses. For the carbine course, you’ll need a rifle with iron sights and/or optic, a sling, and 3 magazines. For the pistol course, you’ll need a full-size or compact gun, an outside-the-waistband holster, and 3 pistol magazines.
These courses will be held on private property a few miles from the Croaker Road 64 exit. The address will be sent to those interested.
After this, we'll shift to basic trauma medical courses for the cold months. If you're interested in future classes, follow us. I'll leave a link in the comments.
We are a SOF veteran-owned company. Our instructors have decades of experience teaching firearms anc medical, not just an operational background from military/ government service. If you'd like to learn more about who we are, our bios can be found on Orcus Group's social media profiles and website.
I understand the wait is suppose to be under 45 day but i was curious what type of wait times people have experienced. I'm talking about first time applicants, not renwals.
I just moved to WA which means I need to unload my AR-15 and (of all things...) my .22lr pistol (because it has a threaded barrel). I have buyers I trust (coworker and brother in law) but I've called like 10 different numbers off the FFL list and none of them do private transfers. Can anyone recommend one? I'm flying back to IAD on Wed to pack the house and would like to get these to new homes.
What are some good recommendations for local ranges around NOVA. I’m going to be renting a handgun so really don’t need any extended range distance beyond 25yards, and I know NRA is already out as I know they don’t do rentals. Thanks for the help🙂
Hello all! I posting to promote the Izaak Walton League Alexandria Chapter. Please reach out with any questions. We will get you a sponsor and set up with membership!
Located off of 610 in Stafford. The league is a family and youth friendly location for all the outdoor hobbies you cannot otherwise enjoy in Northern Virginia.
Initial cost is $200 + $250 yearly dues. Every year thereafter is $250.
We have:
100yd Rifle Range.
50yd Pistol Range.
60yd Archery Range.
Shotgun Range
Fishing pond, hunt-able property, hiking trails.
I’m shooting in my first comp. It’s the Midnight CQB brutality match. I’ll be shooting in the service pistol optics category. What am I gonna need?
A holster, something to carry magazines, ear and eye protection, and ammo. Is that it?
Any holster recommendations? What else will I need to make it work?
Can I just use my AWIB holster and carry extra mags in my pocket?
I haven't been to the NRA range in a long time since SEG is only a few minutes from me and the NRA range doesn't allow steel case ammo despite the composition of the bullet jacket.
Just wondering what the climate is there these days given the hard times the NRA is seeing? I saw a post last week on VAGuns linking to a Youtube post about how they are liquidating some of the firearms museums collection. I have a friend that I am mentoring that has just started shooting and he is about 10 minutes closer to the NRA range than he is to SEG or X-Cal, and I am wondering which range I should recommend to him given that he's already gone through all the range safety training at SEG.
Hey ya’ll,
It's been a while since our last NoVa Night Hike, but we're back at it on Saturday August 17th. If you are in the Northern Virginia/Maryland/DC area and want to join us on a night hike, PM me and we can get you hooked up with the details.
Looking forward to seeing you up on the mountain!
I know this maybe a pipe dream but I am shooting my shot if you will. I have a machine shop in central Virginia that is just sitting vacate. I go in and play from time to time, knock out a few projects for our other companies but mainly it is completely underutilized. I have learned a lot from trial and error and I have had some things taught to me but I need to learn more. I do not wish to sell my machines as they bring me joy and I truly think that I can achieve what I am setting out to.
I would like to find a business partner who is a machinist who is motivated to run their own shop. You could work for me but that isn’t what I want. My primary job is in heavy equipment repair and sales so there is other work to be done if need be. I’d love for it to be gun related but it doesn’t have to be. Ideally Id like to come up with a niche “widget” that we could make to keep the shop self sufficient for covering the costs. I wont have the time to babysit or help in daily operations other than administration/booking keeping/finances/etc unless something unusual happens in my schedule.
I am in my 30s, very business focused, conscientious of reality, and love everything about firearms and I am very interested in pursuing this idea seriously. I hope you are too.
I have a ProtoTrak DPMv5 and a ProtoTrak 2460SLX Lathe, a YCM VMC with a 4th axis, a YCM Turning Center, as well as some other machines.
If this is something you think you would be interested in and qualify for, send me a PM and we can discuss all of the specifics. Please excuse any typos and grammar.
Thanks
I live in manassas. Has anyone got their concealed permit thru ASDI?
New to guns, just bought my first pistol. Want to go to an outdoor range with those metal targets but can’t really seem to find any. Lmk!
See title.
Is there a shop in NOVA that does a good pin and weld? I was thinking sterling arsenal or just sending to dwilson.
If you got a stamp the last few months, mind telling me how long it took?
I'm going on 4 months and am losing my mind.
Who knows a good criminal defense lawyer? I didn’t do anything, I have been meaning to meet with one since I got back from New Mexico. The CCW instructor in Albuquerque said it’s a good idea to get to know a lawyer before you actually need one.

Trying to get rid of this if anyone interested.
Hello,
I've been dabbling in sporting clays the past couple of months and am interested in picking up my own sporting shotgun in the not-so-distant future. Currently eyeing a couple in Beretta's lineup (especially the 694) and wanted to see if there's a relatively local shop that has a decent selection on hand.
Thanks!
Hello - I have lots of parts and accessories that I am looking to sell. Could you all recommend a ffl/brick and mortar that would buy them? Honestly not sure that even exists. Posting on r/GAFS would be a last resort given some mobility limitations.
Thanks in advance.
Did you know converting your Glocks to full auto machine guns was illegal? Spoiler alert, it’s illegal. Don’t you feel safe now?
Has anyone participated in an IDPA match before? Or gone to one just to see what it’s like? What’s the process to shoot in a match?
Hello! As the title states I'm looking to swap my 1-10 for your 6-36. It's in minty shape, just want to have some more magnification for my scar 17. I am located in Lakeridge, and am part of the Quantico gun club if that makes meeting easier.
