Finishing Kaplan Gen Chem before Ochem/Biochem?

I have a very weak base and will not have taken orgo or biochem before testing. I have a very test date (May) and am beginning studying now. Should I finish Gen Chem before the other two so I can have the right foundation or should I tackle them all at the same time?

CARS tip

If y’all haven’t yet... Look up Occam’s Razor (aka law or principle of parsimony).

If you’re stuck between a couple answer choices, this will help you choose the right one.

If you’re stuck between all answer choices, this will help you eliminate and then will help you choose the right 50/50!

Helped me take my 50/50s to corrects instead of overthinking into the wrong of the 2!

3 of these show keto-enol tautomerism. I thought all except for the 3rd one would show keto-enol tautomerism. I guess the 1st one also doesn't, right? Can you help me understand why? Thank you!

For those who improved their c/p…

Im a Jan 10 test taker took FL1 yesterday. Scored a 127 on c/p which is up from a ~125 on the free unscored. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this up to a 130 in my two remaining months? Any study strategies work best for you?? Thanks in advance :)

question regarding uworld

So I'm halfway through uworld. I have a question, I haven't done timed the whole time but for the most part I finish the questions in like 1-2minutes, but theres like 3-4 question that I obsess over and that takes me way longer than 2 minutes, should I just switch over to timed now. I've gotten the hang of uworld right now. or do I just approach untimed?

AAMC FL question styles

Havent taken any aamc fl’s yet but i always hear how they’re easier then Uwock and BP.

What percent of aamc fl questions are straight up easy or just simple fact recalls vs. complicated analysis and low yield detailed fact recall?

What Would be More Beneficial?

I recently moved my test date back a few months to give myself time to focus on the concepts I have been struggling with. With the extra time I now have, would it be more beneficial to do my missed UEarth problems or redo all of the AAMC questions?

Where do I start?

Hi All, I want to begin my MCAT studying journey. I did ok in college so I want to try to do well on the MCAT. A refresher about some topics would be nice. I don’t know where to begin studying. I have about 8 months worth of time. It’s so overwhelming out there with the many resources. Can anyone help me or maybe provide some links that helped you begin your journey? Thanks in advance.

Need CARS tips

I was inconsistently doing JW passages from August to October and was averaging 60-70 per set. I'm now more consistent since this month, but my averages are suddenly 20-30. Not sure how to improve. I tried reading the questions before the passage, pretending the passage is the most interesting thing in the world, making mini notes per paragraph, but none of it seems to be helping. Any tips?

Should I reschedule?

I’m scheduled for 1/24, however, I am thinking of rescheduling to 4/4. Would I get my score in time to apply this cycle?

Took me 5 months to convert all miledown cards into multiple choice questions... (Repost)

Would you use this? I made it cause I thought anki was too passive of a review tool and I have severe ADHD.

Please leave a comment if u'd find this useful. If there's interest ill share this when its complete (hopefully by next week)

Buffer equation question!

https://preview.redd.it/ph62ntweqzzd1.png?width=586&format=png&auto=webp&s=158b29c1127da46e5f13c9de0ccdca4968ae6e49

(Please ignore the TERRIBLE PICTURE and frantic underlining)

Okay can someone explain to me why in buffer reactions it seems like, at least in Kaplan's example, the added acid or base is only reacting with the buffer equation's products? I would've thought the added acid or base would also react with the corresponding acid or base on both sides of the equation? Is this what happens and kaplan just didn't go into a lot of detail or am I missing something crucial

Kaplan vs TPR

Hi everyone, I am currently utilizing this website (https://arvindrajan.notion.site/The-Ultimate-MCAT-Free-Resource-Compilation-fcff61a7f99a4f13871dde51ca5cf4ab) that was posted a while back here, for free resources especially for free 3rd party practice exams. Since I’ll only be taking 3-4 third party exams before I start my AAMC exams, I didn’t want to spend money on them. That being said, (I definitely should’ve asked earlier than right now), but tomorrow I’m taking a full length and was wondering if I should take a Kaplan full length or a TPR full length. I’m scared of both honestly from what I’ve heard, but I don’t know which is the better one of the two. I know both are difficult and deflated and I think I’m mainly scared of a bad score discouraging me. Last week I took Blue Print free full length and scored a 509. I felt really good after that especially for it being my first exam and I’m still 2 months out. My goal is a 515-520 on the real thing for reference.

MCAT study buddy

Need someone to keep me motivated. I’m starting with biochem (using Kaplan 7 book review) and hopefully you want to do the same. Don’t mind sharing my notes with you if it helps. We can also share memorization tips. (Preferably would want a guy to do this with)

Kaplan interface glitches?

I just took the Kaplan free FL and the timer was glitching the whole time...? Anyone else have that issue? I'm bummed bc I had a 14 point increase from TPR to that, but now I'm not sure if it's even a legit increase. I calculated it at the end, and I got an extra 30 minutes because my timer kept freezing.

Heed the advice…

Guys, if you haven’t yet scheduled your MCAT, definitely consider pushing back your test a month to serve as a buffer for anything that might come up. I know many of you recommended it but I only scheduled a two week buffer. In the past three weeks my mom had an ER health crisis and my dog died. Naturally threw off my study schedule. ADD A BUFFER MONTH!

Princeton Review Free Full Length (demo test) What do we think?

I got my lowest free FL score so far with this Princeton Review demo test. I had gotten 503 on kaplan 6 week ago, then 505 on BP 3 weeks ago, and now I got a 499 on this Princeton Review free FL.

How does this test compare to the other 3rd party FLs? Is it me or is it the test?

In between this I had completed about 700 uworld questions, made anki cards of them, and kept up on MileDown.

BP Score Progression :/

Hey everyone, I just took BP FL3 and am kinda bummed about my progress. My score breakdowns were FL1(504): 127/123/126/128. FL2(507): 128/125/126/128. FL3(503): 127/125/126/125. All were a week apart.

I have one more BP FL, FL4, before I move on to AAMC. I defintley felt like I was 50/50 on a lot of the P/S questions for FL3 and I thought my scores generally would be higher for CP and BB but sadly they weren't. My timing was also fine for all of the sections.

Can anyone give some advice on how to better approach my weaker sections and give input if this kind of fluctuation is normal at the point I'm at as I was hoping I'd be around my last score </3

testing jan 10 btw and my diagnostic was 501 (125/126/125/125)

I’ve also been grinding uwench and have finished JS and pankow

seeing advice as an average test taker

to all the non-naturally talented test takes, is it possible to achieve a 520+? (I really need it due to a super super low gpa)

if so, I’m all ears for any tips! so far, I know anki and doing practice questions (uworld, aamc) is #1 but aside from that, if anyone has any specific suggestions, I’d love to take note :)

Do I have Enough Time? Testing 1/24

(I just finished up my content review and scored a 499 (124, 127, 123,124) on the AAMC unscored test. I'm scheduled to take the exam on January 24. I plan on doing around 60 Uworld q's a test and continuing with my anki decks which I'm projected to finish mid December. I'm seeing people on here score a 506-509 that are taking it in January and that's getting me nervous.

Help with converting AAMC unscored exam to scored?

I’ve found a lot of different reddit posts and I’m not sure which one to trust (especially because some seem to be pretty outdated)

My scores: C/P: 41/59

CARS: 45/53

B/B: 34/59 (😵‍💫😭)

P/S: 49/59

I still have around 2 months to study, so if anyone has any advice for how to improve that B/B score, that would also be appreciated :)

diagnostic review?

I was wondering if it’s beneficial to review the diagnostic exam as you would any practice questions and full lengths. Obviously a lot of it may be content gaps but I still wonder if reviewing why I got certain things correct or incorrect could help study prep. What do you guys think?
