More effective cleaning supplies

It's certainly possible that everybody knows this but me, but at the ripe old age of none-of-your-business, I've just discovered that all cleaning supplies work better -- much better -- if you let them sit for a minute or two before you start wiping them off.

Speed up TSA baggage check.

For those who frequently travel, these are some tips to speed up TSA baggage check:

  • Put phone and laptop into a compartmentalized bag/case that you can easily take out of your luggage and put back into your luggage
  • Put wallet in luggage
  • carry your ID in your pocket
  • wear shoes that are easy to take off and put back on (for example, Skechers slip-in, loafers, etc.)
  • don't wear accessories —belts, watches, etc. (keep in luggage until after baggage check)

Swallowing Capsules

Capsules float so put capsule(s) in mouth and take a take a drink of water via a straw and just swallow. No need to get dramatic and toss your head back. As soon as you start to swallow, the pills will go down easily because they are floating in the back of your throat already 💊😁

Sand out of bathing suit liner

My apologies if this isn't the right place for this question!

Does anyone know how to get sand out of a fully lined bathing suit? I cannot find a gap in the suit's lining, and yet I've got SO MUCH trapped between the actual bathing suit and the liner. Does anyone have any tips for getting pesky sand out?

Thank you very much!

After Christmas buy ornaments that would have completed your tree this year.

You’ve been staring at it for weeks, you know exactly what will make it pop next year - and they’ll be on sale!

Anyone else hate having to run to the stores for birthday cards?

My wife and I bought a 100 pack of birthday cards off Amazon. They cost less than $20 for the pack and now we don’t have to run to the store all the time for cards. This will save us time and money.

How do I get rid of the tiny flies my bug zapper isn’t getting?

I recently posted in another sub about a problem with pin sized flies. As a result I did a deep clean which turned out it was a monster can I dropped without noticing that was luring the fuckers. and bought a bug zapper which has fried a few of the little nightmares but there’s still some left most of which are sat in my bug zapper but cus they’re so small they aren’t making contact with the zappy part.

This becomes a problem as when I turn it off they’re gonna disperse and I can’t sleep with it on. Is there any life hacks to get the little demons

looking for a rental friendly, no drill, double curtain rod set up.

I have loved the look of double curtain rods. I live in an apartment with a ton of windows so i have roughly 18 curtain panels across my apartment for 5 windows. I might be moving into my BFs apartment and he's giving me all the creative freedom to make the apartment feel like its mine too.

I want to layer sheers below a blackout, the blackout curtains are heavier and I do not know how well they would hold up with an adhesive holding two rods and 8 panels. This is a very large patio door that takes up an entire wall and it definitely needs 4 panels to cover the entire width. I thought of putting the rod for the black outs a little higher and extended further than the sheers, with the rod for the sheers slight lower and in between the bigger rod, but do not know if it will look dumb.

Has anyone found a hack to make a double curtain rod look in a rental without drilling?

(PS my BF and I are done with drilling after we had a TV collapse LOL)

Get trash bags out of the can easier.

If you drill holes 1-2 inches from the bottom of trash can on at least 2 sides your trash bags will come out much easier. I used the largest drill bit I have and drilled holes on all 4 sides but you can get away with just 2 holes if you want. Just don’t get too close to the bottom in case something leaks.

Morning hair problem

Whenever I wake up in the morning my hairs always all over the place some standing up and others flattened. I’d have to take a shower to get rid of it which can be annoying sometimes. Is there any way to prevent this? (I don’t even got long hair)

Everybody knows to pour boiling water on a clog before adding baking soda and vinegar

But i just realized adding the baking soda 1st in my bath drain works better. The boiling water washes it around the double 90 degree bends that prevent me from using a snake in the 1st place, so the soda is now sitting ON the hair and scum when the vinegar hits it. And the bubbles do their thing where it does the most good.

Fun/lifehacky things to do with a gin that's gone off?

X-posting this from another, alcohol-related sub cos it got no replies there after 24h. Hope that's okay, and that this doesn't count as a "food tip".

Context: I recently purchased a bottle of rather expensive gin at a charity yard sale. The bottle still had a plastic seal around its cap and didn't look tampered with. Nevertheless, when I opened it, the gin gave off a pungent and unpleasant aroma, and when I took a tiny sip of it, it caused the back of my throat to itch violently for several minutes. I've had lots of different gins before, and nothing like this has ever happened, so I suppose something might have gone wrong with this gin at some point, and it's no longer good to drink.

The yard sale was for charity, so I have no intention of asking for any kind of refund. Frankly, I would have given them the money for nothing. Before I throw out the bottle, is there anything fun or lifehacky I could do with the gin if I'm not going to drink it?

Daily desk exercise

For those working from home (or that don't mind the attention). Set a reminder on your phone to repeat every work day at 9am to "set 1 hour timer".

Then when the alarm goes off. Drop and do N pushups, squats, lunges. It gives you a break from the screen. It gets the heart pumping, it increases your life expectancy from the dangers of sitting all day.

I use my watch and then hit 'repeat' so that I do it every hour. If I'm in a call or having lunch I might ignore it. No biggie.

Just a nice way to get some simple bite sized exercise through the day.

Bonus: ive been focusing on push-ups and I'm now up to 200 a day easily and have developed quite a bit of strength and muscle mass after only a few weeks.

Re Birthing Towels

Has anybody on the planet figured out the way to rejuvenate old towels? My water is high in minerals, so I sometimes wash a load of old towels with 1/2 cup of washing soda (sodium carbonate) only.. and spin on like 800rpm so the threads don't get flayed.. it sort of helps but it's far and away not even close to a new towel.. any ideas ??

No more ladder howl

I was dreading a 220mile drive with the ladder howling the whole way. My other ladder doesn't do it so it's not the straps. £4 punt on some gaffer tape. It will get an expanding foam upgrade. Worked a dream

Quickly identify meds.

Repurpose caps from used containers to help find medicine bottles.

Ranch dressing , Gatorade , and blistex work well. I suggest a bit of super glue to hold in place. Just swap the cap when you get a refill.

How to clean cabinets with shit ton of roach droppings

I've read how to eliminate the roaches but what to do about the aftermath.

Everything is stored in bags, droppings are on and under the bags.

Do I use a vaccum or wet paper towel to clean the areas?
