it’s a different vibe though..first episode was released today
Hi this is my first time in this thread. New to Reddit. I really miss this show. People often talk about "comfort shows" well this is my one. I've had a lot of health related issues and this show always helps me. I started watching probably when they were showing season 3 however I came across it somewhere from season 1 and got hooked instantly. I then resorted to finding the new episodes every time they came out online somewhere, anywhere because they didn't come out over here then.
I don't often rewatch series but I've rewatched this show so many times. I love it.
So I was wondering what would you have changed about the show if you could? Aside from the fact we didn't get the proper ending it deserved and if they did have that ending what would yours be?
For me I wouldn't have moved them to Zihuatanejo, still a good season but felt it was the season they tried to add too many random characters out of nowhere.
Jasper- felt like they only really had plans for him for a few episodes then we barely saw him. I mean they literally left him in Mexico 🤣
My ending- I felt the best time of the series was in Malibu and I would have loved them to find their proper home but on the way stop back off at Malibu and Tucson homes. Then a flashforward to a few years later and you had Todd with his child with Tandy and his kids and Mike walks in with his child in his arms and his new wife. Before everyone else gets into the picture and a group photo is taken. Something like that.
They got divorced so she could marry Todd but ended up marrying Mike but then he “died” and she was “widowed” and pregnant with tandys baby but they never got remarried so their kids are technically bastards.
I’m guessing this has been asked here, but I think it’s a fascinating thing to consider. If you were the last person or one of the last people alive, what crazy things would you do that you normally couldn’t? Where would you go?
As far as some things they didn’t do in the show, I think amusement parks would be cool, (moreso in the event of there being more than one person like in the show), ski resorts (though most would probably avoid cold climates), ghost ride and 18 wheeler into the Grand Canyon, go steal Shaquille O’Neal‘s giant bed (or even stay there and shack up at Shaqs, Fill a pool with (paper) cash and jump in like Scrooge mcduck, ride a skateboard down a water slide, find a monster truck, fill an in ground pool with exercise balls, steal the Declaration of Independence. Find one of those giant inflatable thinks that stuntmen jump onto. Idk, I’m curious what ideas others have.
One plot thread I still don’t fully understand is Melissa’s illness. One episode she’s fine, then she gradually gets worse, to the point where she’s locked in a room, then all of a sudden she’s fine cause she’s laughing with Jasper in the cop car??
Can someone please give me a more detailed breakdown of what was wrong with her, and how it got solved?
I’ve watched the whole show but can’t seem to resolve that thread myself.
I joined I wanna say a year and a half or so ago but I wonder was this subreddit created during or after the show aired and if after, how long after the last episode aired?
heyy!! im looking for a download link for at least the first season, I'm trying to make edits and phil miller best moments but I'm struggling with finding a place to download episodes :(((
Why didnt they just go to Canada? Was it maybe a show budget thing?
I’ve seen Will Forte’s comment on where the series would have gone in season 5 with the bunker people thinking the world was completely wiped out only to run into the cast. The discussion of immunity with our survivors posing a threat to the bunker population makes me wonder how Mike has immunity yet he was in his own sort of bunker in space. I would love to hear your theories.
Remember Kenneth Choi’s character Lewis? The tree surgeon who died in a plane crash?
In The Open-Ended Nature of Unwitnessed Deaths, he opens up about Mark, his lover, who was last heard from in Tokyo trying to charter a boat to sail back home during the virus.
I think it would’ve been right up this show’s alley to bring in Mark, long after Lewis died (but not so far ahead that we’ve forgotten about him). The realization that they had Lewis but he died before Clark arrived would’ve been so good in the hands of this show’s writers. Huge comedic value to be had from it, but it’s also one of those insanely dark plot points that they love to pepper in. Tandy would blame himself because of how he pushed Lewis to fly, which would result in huge character development pushing us into the final season. Mark would most likely be one of those guest appearances who’s only there for a couple of episodes, either leaving or dying after the Lewis connection is made. But at least he gets closure, closure, closure closure closure!
I would have loved to tie Lewis back into everything, because he was part of the group long enough to feel like more than a guest star. He was on the road that Phil (Boris Kodjak) paved, having been there for so long that he made an impact and was referenced throughout the rest of the show. Lewis didn’t achieve that level of notoriety, of course, but Mark would have been a really interesting way to say, “remember Lewis?”
What do you guys think? Is that way too dark? Or is it… just dark enough?
The amount of times characters say oh my god in this show is ridiculous. The episode where Todd dresses up the dead bodies they must have said it dozens of times. The first couple of seasons of this show were so good, I can see why it was cancelled now though.
I just finished the entire series.
I was really concerned based on comments here and reading ahead on Wikipedia a bit that the cliffhanger ending would be unbearable.
Frankly, I found almost the opposite. Tandy’s speech near the end about settling in the new place almost seems like a closing of the story.
And finding so much new life and a new way of living is a significant change for the group. Even though the mask people are not revealed, finding so many others seems like a good place to leave off, in a way.
I read WF’s comments on what was supposed to happen in season 5, and of course I would have enjoyed that. And I still hold a torch that they’ll make a movie or a streaming series, as unlikely as that might be now. Of course I don’t want anyone reading my comments to stop development because I said the story feels nearly complete…
All I’m saying here is absent my knowledge of what was supposed to happen in S5, it feels like the story is reasonably well resolved, and it felt a bit less abrupt than I was expecting.
Closure, but not closure closure closure closure closure.
Recently decided to start re-watching this series. I know I’m not alone in still being incredibly bummed this show got cancelled - especially on such a MASSIVE cliffhanger. This was (and still is) one of me and my husband’s favorite shows - especially when there’s not a ton of shows that we both REALLY enjoy watching together. How do we start a petition to bring it back? 😂 I’m laughing, but also kinda serious if people would be interested 🤷♀️
I'm not sure if I'm imagining things but I keep seeing little scenes or snippets of convo on this rewatch that I know for sure I hadn't seen before. For example I'm rewatching the scene where Mike lands in the ocean and there's stuff about him landing on an old cruise ship and getting his paddle bike from there - was that in the original? Anyway it's happened to me enough that I'm sure they've added some removed footage.
I am 3 episodes from the end and it breaks my heart knowing the cliffhanger is coming 🥲😭 I know Forte is open to one more season but the likelihood of anyone picking it up again is so low but can the streaming gods please grant a miracle 😭😭
So why don’t you fo guck yourselg.
Currently rewatching the show for about the 15th time and I’m up to the San Francisco part where he’s accidentally burnt it all down.
It makes me think why did the rest of the crew not do stupid stuff like that or I guess know of Tandy if he was doing so much crazy stuff especially to that extent.
Hey guys! There is this instrumental track in last man on earth, it plays once when Phil is cleaning his toilet pool in the first season, and also when he is releasing balloons for carol when he looses carol in the second season.
I literally can’t find this song! Any help would be great! Thanks!
