I'm looking at purchasing a 87' U1300L that's registered and titled on the east coast US. Does anyone here have a mog registered in WA and can provide any insight. Did you run into any issues? It's an ex German army vehicle but has been registered and titled in the states for several years. Any advice would be most appreciated.
I have a friend, cash buyer, looking for a good Ag spec unimog for farm operations.
Let me know what you have.
Found the kitchen aid of trucks.
My husband bought a 1963 404 and he is wondering if anyone knows what the original seat covers are made of so he can look at restoring them.
He took the innards out yesterday and is wanting to fix the rusty springs and clean up the seat covers before re stuffing (what would that be with? lol )
But we can’t seem to find what the material is made of to be able to clean it without damaging it.
Thanks if anyone else knows!
I put the deposit down today, I’ll get it in a couple weeks or less depending on scheduling with the hotshot! Anyone know any drivers?

I was watching this video about the Unimog, and when I got to about 6 min 38 sec, James mentions a brake over axle. I've tried searching for that term, but I haven't found that term associated with anything yet.
In my search I discovered the existence of pinion brakes. I haven't seen anything about pinion brakes associated with Unimogs, but they are associated with large wheel offroad vehicles. Is that what he's talking about? If not, what is he referring to?
Thanks in advance.
So I have one of those mercedes engines sitting in my boat, and I feel like this is the place to ask about them.
It starts great and runs just fine, it doesn't smoke overly much either. But that's hard to judge because the exaust is watercooled. Nor does it leak oil aside from the seal behind the flywheel sweating ever so slightly.
The issue is it uses A LOT of oil. I had to top up with with a smidge over a gallon after about 6 or 7 hours of running at at around 1700 rpm. The thing is that I am on the fence about rebuilding it because it is on the big side for the size of boat anyway but it does work.
I'd like to know of you aficionados are aware of any "common" reasons for using a lot of oil aside from the valvecover gasket? I haven't dug into it yet but I would like to know where to look next.
There is a 70 406 disc brake unimog for sale localish to me for 8k but when I showed up didn’t disclose the issues. No brakes or clutch. And doing research it seems it’s a bottomless pit possible getting it all going. I’m waiting on owner he said he is putting clutch master on today and if works will move onto brake master and bleeding. I’m extremely extremely mechanically inclined I’m just looking at it at a financial standpoint of how quickly can get over my head parts bill wise.
