You can definitely ask about specific questions: just cite the test number. e.g.

Test 63, section 1, question 14 --> "The one about ESP"

It's a good idea to describe the question, and which part of it you found confusing. Just don't post it verbatim. Thanks!

What can I talk about after I take an official LSAT administration on test day?

Not much. You signed an agreement not to disclose anything from the test. See this post for full rules; these are based on discussions with LSAC.

Note: I'm referring to unreleased tests that have not been disclosed by LSAC. Mind you, in the digital LSAT era, no test is disclosed, so this applies to every test. The summary:

  • Experimental topics, specific questions, answers, requests to message about answers: not allowed at any point
  • Topics of scored sections: allowed once an LSAT administration is finished

Proproctor app testing bef actual remote test

Before taking remote test next week, I am testing the proproctor app.

Process: App launch > type in confirmation number and last name > regulations agree > system check(speaker, camera etc)

After i click 'continue' button on the system check, the page blanks out and then redirects me to type in the confirmation number and last name again.

Is this because it's not test day yet? Or is it a technical issue of the app and my computer? If anyone knows it would be such a big help! Thanks!

The best way to study these last few months before January!?

So I will do a section of LR and I usually miss anywhere between 7 and 8. While I am completing the sections any questions I feel iffy about.. I choose an answer to the best of my ability and flag it. Once the section is over and scored.. I notice that, Let's say I flag 10 questions.. I'll end up missing 6 of them and getting 4 correct and then I'll miss 2 or 3 additional I didn't flag. I also notice that sometimes the wrong answer I choose, it was down to the final two with the correct answer. How would you recommend studying and reviewing in situations like this. I would eventually like to get down to only missing 5 or less per section by January... Any recommendations? Is it possible?

I attached a photo of my last practice section.

This was a LR from PT 109.. I don't know which section...

november lsat [cooked]

i’d been practice testing in the low 160s for the past month, hoping to break to high 160/170. i improved my rc and had gotten -1, -4 (max wrong) but was still struggling on lr but noticed that i was getting some easy questions right so noted to slow down. a 170 felt possible guys. until this week LMFAO. two days in a row now i’ve gotten a 157 and 159….scores i haven’t gotten in the last 2 months. idk if im psyched out or burnt out but idek how my time could best be spent leading up to this saturday. i guess january is the plan 😔

Lawhub explanations suck

It can’t just be me. Especially for PT 157 like what is that? What do you mean “this is not what we anticipated so eliminate and move on.” No, I want to know the reasoning behind the answer choice being wrong. Even for the correct answers. In RC, they say something along the lines of “even though this is not what we anticipated, since it’s slightly mentioned in this line and in this paragraph then select it and move on.”

Feeling cooked

Not sure if this is the right place or if r/lawschooladmissions would be better but if I'm violating any rules, let me know and I'll take the post down asap. I just wanna know if someone's been through a similar position and if they have any advice on how to move forward

nURM, graduated in June with a 4.0 and already taking a gap year (which the family was not happy about) to apply this cycle. I've taken the LSAT 3 times, all back when games was a thing. I genuinely don't know what I was thinking for honestly each of those attempts since I was nowhere nearly as prepared as I should've been. I got a 159, 157 (yes, lower the 2nd time around and my dumbass did not cancel my score even though I could have), and a 163 on my final attempt in June before LG disappeared. I wasn't even good at LG unlike most people, but I felt pressured to do take the tests with it for some reason.

I took the advice that most people have given here of really studying the material at a grassroots level and getting PTs in the score range I want before I take the test officially. I thought I would've had enough time to do that for November but my PTs say otherwise. I managed to somehow score a 171 on one of my tests a couple weeks back, but the rest of my PTs have stuck at the mid-160 range. 5 days out from my test and I score a 162. Safe to say my confidence is currently cratered.

I would love to have more time to take this test and prep for longer. But I feel like I'm squandering a lot of good will my family has put in me by giving me extra time after June to just focus on the test. I feel almost like I have to take this November test and apply now. I guess another part of it is just feeling sort of inadequate and I guess dumb compared to some of my peers from college, who are all hitting their desired score ranges, with some having established jobs or post-grad opportunities, and being ready to apply this cycle, or some already off doing things in law school. Meanwhile, I feel like I've plateaued despite having everything I've asked for. I know "comparison is the thief of joy" etc but my own results and work don't give me any confidence to lean on either.

I have a desire to at least go to a T-14, but deep down I feel like I could break into that upper echelon T-3 of HYS. But sometimes, like right now as I vent, I feel like I'm utterly delusional. My inadequate LSAT and relatively uninteresting background as a PoliSci major who did some common extracurriculars relatively intensely won't be made up for by my GPA from a Mickey Mouse major and some probably decent but not groundbreaking essays.

I honestly have no clue if taking this test in a couple of days with the hopes of applying with whatever score I get this cycle is a smart idea or not. I just have no clue how my family will react to *yet another* delay since they want me to just get a job ASAP. I know it's my life and my decision but I can't help but feel I have obligations to them that matter too. But I also don't want to miss out on the lost potential of a better future by not being strategic with my time now. Or is there some way I can have my cake and eat it too?

Yeah I mostly just feel cooked.

What do I do with questions I have missed?

I don't know if anyone else feels this way but when I get a question incorrect I just don't know what to do with it like the type where I was really convinced I had gotten it correct or one of those where it came down to two and I chose the one I really thought was correct. What I usually do is post online for help for that specific question on a forum if I cannot figure it out or read online solutions but if it is not clicking, should I switch question types or keep going? What do you all do? And should I stop after missing a certain number of questions? This is mainly with LR but I find the problem to be worse with RC due to passage length

PT 89 LR2 (Section 4)

I don’t know if it was fatigue or what but I just could not understand some of the questions at all. I am usually able to dissect and question any LR question to pick out a solid answer choice but holy shit. Read a single question for 5 minutes and nothing was sticking (think it was both question 11 and 12?). Still got -6 on that section which is the lower end of my range but still.

Just wanted to share my frustrations. My head is still tired and dizzy so I’m just gonna go to bed now :)

LSAT Tutor Rec’s!!

Help I’m planning to take the LSAT again in January. I scored a 153 on the September LSAT. I get anywhere from -4 to -8 in LR and I’m been doing god awful in RC. Right before the September LSAT I got -4 in RC for a PT and my most recent PT I literally got -12 in RC.

I am looking into LSAT Nerds does anyone have any recommendations from them or any tutors they would recommend in general? Or tips for breaking into the 160’s?

I’ve gotten a 163 on my last three practice tests.

I don’t think there’s much of a chance of breaking that ceiling come next week, but we ball.

Why is my experimental section always my lowest score?

Am I the only one that this happens to? I am scoring between 169 and 172 on literally every practice test, I’ve done like 10 this month and literally EVERY TIME I score like -7 on my LR experimental sections… it makes me feel like my score is not actually representative and it makes me not proud of myself or my score improvement. Is there any explainable reason for this? It’s so annoying!!!

Benefits of the LSAT

Did you know studying for the LSAT makes you look younger? It’s also been proven that studying before bed reduces the incidence of nightmares. Longterm LSAT studying also stimulates the ventral tegmental area of the brain responsible for dopamine release, therefore increasing feelings of satisfaction and fueling our drive for accomplishment. There are so many positive benefits* of studying for the LSAT! I love this test!

*This is not true but hoping the power of suggestion will help to motivate us. Happy studies!

Anyone else also have a terrible/vastly unhelpful experience with 7Sage tutoring?

I threw over 1k at 7Sage for one of their tutoring packages a few months ago, and I had a tutor that I thought was unhelpful since day 1, but I thought I was just dumb since she scored so high herself.

Since l've started tutoring others myself, I realized how much I totally wasted my money, because many of these high scorers maybe "get" the test, but has no idea how to teach someone else how to get there.

When my students tell me how helpful it is that I ask them certain questions to engage with the text/ argument because that's how they learn how to think, I always think "Funny. I got good at it because my tutor never did that with me and I try to teach how I wished I was taught." I'm sure they're not all bad. Just saying it was my experience. And I maybe do have an overly critical eye because I work in education and can really identify effective vs. ineffective teaching/learning.

But since then, I've been telling everyone to avoid 7Sage tutoring. The analytics are fine though.

Think I can get my money back? lol. I get madder the more I teach.

It’s my first time taking the lsat and I’m taking it at a test center. Can somebody walk me through the process. I know I need an ID? Anything else I might need? Are white paper sheets allowed? I’m so nervous and it’s an 8 am test🫠ahhhhh

Confident, but not really

After months of studying, it’s finally time to do the real thing. I take it Friday, will probably end studying Tuesday. I’m been scoring in high 160s mostly (167-169) and I’ve even hit low 170s a few times so I’m confident. BUT there’s still a voice in my head making me feel like something is gonna happen on test day where I slip up……….

Finally bit the bullet and took PT 89/155 (One week before the exam)

(Reposting because I still don’t know how to edit on Reddit)

As expected got smoked but I'm glad I took this PT.

My last 4 PTs have been 162 (PT 87), 162 (PT 88), 162 (PT62), and now 159 (PT 89). Hopefully this is the absolute bottom of my range and I pray that the November exam is not nearly as difficult as this. This makes my average 161.25 which is actually my goal score so hopefully I can get that on test day.

Honestly by section 4 I was daydreaming a little so I got off track a lot. Hoping to lock in even harder on the November exam. Did anyone else feel that PT 89 was difficult? My brain is cooked from that :)

Edit:

I even went to the lengths of replicating test day as best as I could. Cruised for an hour like I would on test day and got what I normally would. Had the same snacks and drink prepared like I plan to. Honestly wasn’t so bad until I hit section 4. Brain is still frying itself from all the information and focus.

Need help with answer techniques

I am currently studying for the LSAT and am planning to take a while to study for it; about July or August (long time, I know). My current practice test scores are decent, but I've been realizing that I have been having this issue when I answer questions.

My current technique, for both LR and RC, is to go through and eliminate answers that are wrong first, so I have an easier time knowing what is right. However, I always get down to two answers, and I end up picking the wrong one out of the two when the other one out of the two is the correct answer.

I honestly don't know how to work on "fixing" or even work on this problem, even though I have lots of time to do so. Could it just be I need more practice in general or is there something else I should be doing? I would appreciate any recommendations anyone has, this has been in the back of my mind for weeks now. Thank you!

all I want is a 150…

I’ve been studying on and off for the last month, and have taken the test 2 times already, with my first score being a 147. I just took a pt and got a 146, and I have my official test next week Wednesday. I just want a shot at law schools in my area (Maryland) and I believe a 150 would give me that shot. Is there a way for me to get a 150 on my official test?

Locked in

Well guys, I take it Thursday. Took my last PT today (PT152) and hit 172, ended on a high note. Praying I can pull a 171+ first try and be done with this thing. Lock in, sleep well, get ready to ball.

It feels crazy writing this when I had a 140’s diagnostic not too long ago. Time flies

how do y'all know if a writing sample was successfully submitted?

hey y'all - lsat writing is weird since it's just recorded and not proctored by a real person and i'm super paranoid my sample wasn't submitted properly or that i didn't do the room scan right or something. i had to re-launch the thing several times because my proctoru didn't want to work and it was just weird. at the end of the test it did say successfully submitted and i thought proctoru was gone and i literally whispered "wait, what?" out loud because i was shocked it didn't automatically sign off (although this was AFTER the sample was submitted so i hope it's okay). anyways it let me relaunch until i actually completed the sample, now the button is gone. but the status still says "initiated". am i cooked or am i freaking out for no reason.

Got more tips for you guys!!

I’m been significantly improving my LR by following these helpful tips from my tutor:

  1. When reading through answers choices, go from A to E with CONFIDENCE that it’s either right or wrong.

Don’t go 50-50 with one and see if another could be right. By doing this, you are comparing answers to each other, rather than answers to the passage.

You will also feel more confident that another answer is correct, which is wrong because we know 1 answer is absolutely correct, 4 are ABSOLUTELY WRONG.

When reading answers, go from comma to comma and pause. If the first part of the sentence doesn’t mention anything about the passage or argument, chances are it’s already wrong. The answer cannot possibly be correct if some part of the sentence is shaky or wrong. This is especially for “closed” questions.

  1. Don’t confuse arguments for their opposite. For example, if I say I like black, doesn’t mean I don’t like white. It just means I don’t like black, I could also like white too. Although a very very simple example, this idea can apply to most argumentative passages, where answer choices could try to confuse you with contrapositives.

YOU ONLY KNOW WHAT THE PASSAGE TELLS YOU; don’t make inferences from the argument!!

  1. All means 100%. Some could be 2, could also be 200. When being skeptical to an argument (which you should always be), when the author mentions some or usually, act like you’re stupid and be like ok so 2 times they did this, or they did 3 tests. This will help you think more critically of answers!!

TIME TO GRIND YALL. LOCK IN!!!!
