Im bored and I wanna watch some scary movies and I came across Sadako but idk which order to watch them in since there's alot of films and google wont give me an answer- Soo I just wanted to ask which order to watch the sadako movies in! :D
Its a Japanese horror movie that Im almost 100% sure was called "Campus Ghost Stories" but I cant find it on Google so I must be wrong. It was split into two tales: the first was about a girl with an evil doppelganger who crushed on a guy, and the second was about a... evil presence haunting an apartment? Anyway Im going back on old films I watched for nostalgia's sake. It honestly wasnt that scary to me but Id still love to know what movie I watched, and maybe watch it again
Please help me, thank you

Any recommendations?
New 45 minutes movie by the same director as Cure and Pulse, as well as other movies I still have to check out (Charisma and Retribution look really interesting). The same eerie atmosphere with themes about alienation is present here, this time through a sound that makes people go mad in ways the film never really explains (which is a positive, I tend to dislike exposition dumps).
Like in Pulse, a couple scenes here are really really creepy even though nothing egregious is actually happening, it just speaks volumes of Kurosawa's command of space and sound. Every interaction in this short movie is just slightly off, feeding into that vibe of complete alienation in modern society, even when we don't really realize it. On top of that, we have an abstract horror spreading around, but unlike Pulse we don't really see how (also due to the shorter nature of this movie, that by the way makes it really easy to rewatch).
As far as subtle horror goes, I struggle to think of someone doing it better than this guy, though I'm open to recommendations.
Potentially my film of the year, tied with Terrifier 3 for VERY different reasons. It just depends whether I'm in the mood for a glorious practical gorefest or for an eerie and dreary piece, but I'm lucky we got both this year, and I'm ultimately glad that dark and uncomfortable cinema is still alive these days.
I'm looking for a Japanese Anthology short, can't find it anymore on YT or Dailymotion, here's the story goes.
A night class had just finished, and all the students were heading home. One girl realized she’d left something in the classroom and decided to go back when she saw the lights were still on. As she entered the room, she noticed another student sitting by the window. But as she approached, she realized it was only half of a body. She rushed down each floor, but the ghost followed her.
Please help me. Thanks a lot
Needed a Halloween-ish movie since we're so close to the actual day and I popped in my DVD of The Grudge. I've seen it a few times in my life, as well as the original Ju-On. I almost always prefer the Japanese version of these films (ringu, one missed call, etc), but for some reason I prefer the remake to Ju-On in this case. Perhaps it's my love for Sam Raimi? Maybe Sarah Michelle Gellar? I don't know why but this version feels so much "fuller" than the original to me. It's really a great remake. Anyone else feel the same way?
Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for old SOV horror like Guzoo, Naked blood, Conton etc. I remember watching the beginning of one online ages ago about a couple of journalists or something going into the woods to hunt for proof of existence of fairies, but can't remember what it was called. I've tried going down the online rabbit hole, but it's only been throwing out the same few titles.
is there any Japanese movies that genuinely terrified you before and or after watching? suggest anything and i’ll probably watch it :)
I love jhorror and i'm a sucker for an alien abduction/invasion movie, and it occured ot me that I don't think that's ever something I've seen in Japanese horror. Aliens definitely show up on rare occasion, but typically in a bit more of an obscured manner.
They're a common appearance in Kaiju movies, and occasionally in your more shonen-esque action that can be sometimes horror adjacent (like Parasyte).
The obsession with UFO's and Extraterrestrial is traditionally more of an american thing, but I figured it could be quite fun to see a Japanese take on those ideas. My attempts to find any have so far been fruitless.
If any of you have suggestions I'd love to hear them!
So, the recent success of Terrifier 3 has put me in the mood for some good old gorefests, and I want to explore the Japanese side of it because I love Japanese cinema but there's a lot I have yet to see in that realm.
That being said, I know that many splatter Japanese movies are very CGI-heavy, which I'm not a big fan of (it was really distracting in Tag by Sion Sono, for example, though the film was still interesting for other reasons).
Do you have recommendations for some gory or body horror Japanese films based on well done practical effects? Tetsuo 1 and 2 are a great example of what I mean, but something a bit cheesier along the lines of Terrifier is fine as well.
I'm already familiar with the Tetsuo saga and Ichi The Killer.
EDIT: actually I've also watched the first Guinea Pig movie but I don't know, single location torture porn movies are not really my thing honestly, they're just kinda tedious.
planning to watch the Meatball Machine movies (except for the 1999 original) after my stinken exams. though i kinda need some of you guys' opinions so that i could be more pumped to watch one of the two films.
the 2005 one looks really bloody tho a little bit less intense than Kodoku, but Kodoku looks wayy too comedic for my taste but still pretty bloody. still need yalls opinions though
so which movie is better? Meatball Machine (2005) or Meatball Machine Kodoku (2017)?
Cult is a fantastic jHorror movie, about three women who go investigate a haunted house, it's a found footage type movie. I highly recommend, the full movie is available on youtube.
I remember reading an announcement years ago (around 2020 i think) that the director of Ju-On was set to film an adaptation of the book Graveyard Apartment but no news since. I liked the book so I was excited but havent hard anything since. Does anyone know if it was evee released in Japan or was it cancelled?
Wasn't sure how sensitive the NSFW rule here is, so I censored the poster.
Just saw Tokugawa 1, also known as Shogun's Joy Of Torture (1968) and i personally was pretty surprised by how genuinely good it was, even for a "torture porn" movie, with solid actors, characters, stories and moral stories to tell.
I am not 100% sure if it counts as J-Horror (not everything with blood and a high disturbance factor is a horror movie), but nevertheless I would like to ask you for help again: Where can I find the movie safe to watch in English or German? Legally of course ;) ... but feel free to DM me yk
Reminder to not post links here, that's rule No.2
not all the films i have in this genre but these ones are cool!
I was questioning what I was watching once that glass dome fell and the blood started spurting 😅
Do Actual English subs exist for Tomie vs Tomie? It’s the only I haven’t watched, because the subs give me a headache.
Hey folks, I'm looking for a good new J horror movie that I can stream in the States. I've been looking at recommendation lists and noticed most of the movies are from the 90s and 00s. I would love to hear this community's recommendations for recent J Horror. Thank you!
.
Wow, would you do anything for the person who saved you from bullying?
Holy fuck. That was one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen. I can’t wait to not sleep at all tonight, or next week, or the week after that. I need to go on a walk to process what I just watched. 😃
I’ve heard very good things and was thinking about watching it, should I?
I don't really remember the movie plot but basically some cops find serial killer.
the killer kills then cut their >!breast or nipple!<. I forgot.
it has to be from 1990s. its japanese
Which is more highly regarded? Noroi or Kairo?
The Curse was just released as part of a box set, but . . .
