Copied over from the APSC list and TX-IPSC email list. This is a USPSA/PCSL-style match run under "Hit Factor" rules. PCC is a recognized divison for the match but if you want to enter the single-elimination shoot-off (optional), you'll need a pistol, too.
>> Registration will open at 1:30 PM, today, 30OCT2024. <<
APSC is excited to announce a special Charity Hit Factor match on Saturday, December 7th, at Austin Rifle Club that you won't want to miss. What makes this match special? Sorry if this post is lame, it feels weird to ask in the first place—but i've been here a year and would love to be more motivated / hit the range more regularly with a friend.
None of the people I know in AT so far are really into it so I typically just go by myself.
I know these aren’t being produced anymore, but was wondering if anyone knows of a local shop with any in stock brand new?
Hey y'all, just recently got a shotgun for the purpose of home defense. I want to train with it, but I figure the rules and expectations for a shotgun are gonna be pretty different from handguns or rifles. Any recommendations on locations?
As per the title, does anyone know of retailers who stock Colt revolvers. I have a Ruger, I have a Smith, now I'd like a Colt but I like to fondle before I buy.
Any one know of any stores that stock a1 grips by any chance?
any decent FFLs close to central austin that have a good price to ship pistols? i have 3 that need to go to a custom shop for refurb and tuning. seems FedEx no longer allows personal shipping of your own guns to an FFL and neither does UPS of USPS. I emailed a couple of places and gotten some wild quotes ($50 to ship plus $35 transfer fee per gun for example). i'm near spicewood springs and 360. good referral would be appreciated!
Friend dropped out so I have an extra ticket, I can drive or meet you there. I'd want to retain the raffle ticket that comes with the entry but it's a free meal with other hunters.
Shot in the dark. But I thought I'd ask.
I purchased my first gun (Glock 45 MOS) yesterday. At first I was going to save some money and buy from guns.com but realized with fees it wouldn’t save a lot - then tried McBrides - nice people but a little too 2nd Amendment for me, plus while they told me they had one in stock they didn’t. So I’d have had to order it which would have taken a week.
I ended up at The Range which is expensive ($80 more than guns.com and $40 more than McBrides) but actually had the guns they told me they had… process was easy, people were friendly. In and out in 45 minutes.
Like the title says is there a good place to buy steel plates locally? Like if I wanted to pick up some today. Tia
Edit: Thank you everyone for the suggestions!
Bought a bundle of 10 30rd gen 2's off PSA. Right after they shipped, I found an old box of brand new ones in the closet I forgot about. Would rather not pay shipping to send back for a refund. Willing to meet local and sell for cost, which was $86. I'm not looking to make any money off this, I'd just like to get back what I spent.
Complete
Hey, I did a quick search and noticed only a question from 2y ago. Do people here still meetup from time to time? Is the Slack still active and is there a link to join? (I don't use Slack and I'm not very familiar with it)
I mainly want to find friendly folks to shoot and explore different ranges with. For example, I want to check out the Copperhead Creek range but you know... social anxiety. It's easier with friends!
I've never shot a bowling pin match and would love to go to one. Are there any in the Austin/CenTex area?
As the title says, I'm moving out of state next week and I completely forgot I had this in my closet because it was behind a bunch of boxes. What's the easiest way to get rid of it in a matter of days? I read about TGT but I don't think I'll find a buyer for it that fast and I'd rather just offload it.
EDIT: Please don’t message me about buying it unless it’s to tell me which gun store will buy it.
EDIT: Someone DM'd and told me Cabela's / Bass Pro Shop has a gun trade-in program, I'm probably going to just do it there, leaving this note here for anyone else who runs into this thread in the future. Thanks!
Need an updated list of local places that carry parts (tiggers, handguards, buffer tubes, etc)
I bought the pistol and absolutely love it!
I do need at least two more mags for it and I’d like to stay local in buying them. Any recommendations as to where I might find the mags.
It’s one of the few pistols my wife like shooting. 97B Omega is the way to go!
Anybody got a reputable place that doesn’t have ridiculous long wait times and prices to do an upper receiver assemble and pin & weld? Hard pass on the range since they want $125 just for a pin and weld.
Hey guys, looking for some pistol/rifle classes in the Austin area that are focused on marksmanship training. I’ve searched on google but all the ones I found are more about self-defence or room clearing. Anyone know a class or instructor that fits what I’m looking for?
Thanks
Of course remove this post if not allowed.
I am a young adult female. I’m not very strong and am going to the range to practice.
I want a small handgun for protection or just shooting cans on the property or something. I’m not well versed in brands or different types. Not sure what’s considered “high quality”.But I obviously can’t hold anything too big. I also don’t wanna spend too much more than $300.
I am looking for suggestions especially from other women. Also if there’s any women’s classes that anyone would like to recommend as well!!
What’s the best route to start getting into USPSA matches. Brand new to competition shooting but ready to start. Is there a particular range or club that is better suited for beginners. I’m in north Austin if that makes a difference.
UPDATE: going to sign up for the ASI match at CAPS on Nov 3rd once registration opens. Thanks for the advice and hopefully see yall out there or at another future match!
I have some plates which I purchased back in 2021, currently downsizing my life so I want to dispose them and they are probably expired anyway (also wanted to test if they can indeed save my life from a 5.56 shot); any ranges around Austin that could let me shoot these lovely plates? I've asked a few (LSGR, for example) and they allow nothing other than paper target.
I’m close to south Austin, but I don’t mind driving out for a session. Any suggestions? Thanks redditors.
Long story short, years ago my uncle died and my brother bought a bunch of guns from our Aunt that he brought back from the war. I am buying one of the German Lugers from him and I obviously want to pay him a fair price for it but we have no idea what the value is. Searching places like Gunbroker is tough. Anyone in Austin that could take a look at it and give me a range in value ?
I know Capitol Armory offers them. Anyone else does it?
Anyone have an SRO plate they want to trade for an RMR plate? Thought I'd ask before I buy a new plate and sell the RMR one.
Curious what local shops y’all prefer to buy your 5.56 AR15 mags from. I’d rather buy locally if prices are comparable to online shops. Any suggestions?
