Hey folks, I have taken a pistol safety course and been to the range a few times on my own. But I would really like to improve my marksmanship by taking lessons that progress towards achieving my goals. Are there any ranges in/around Austin with private 1:1 classes thats not outrageously expensive?
Does anybody in town have one in stock?
Hey y’all, I’m in the market for a full size (5”) 9mm pistol. Before I drop the cash I’d like to shoot them a bit but I’d prefer not dealing with renting from an indoor range, so I’m coming to y’all.
I’m a member of the Firing Line up in Georgetown and will happily cover your ammo, guest fee, targets, and throw a couple more shekels your way to cover travel and time. I’m looking for pistols like the Walter PDP F, S&W M&P9 2.0, etc. that would fit into carry optics or possibly the limited optics divisions in USPSA and be a nice thicc and reliable nightstand handgun.
Let me know if you’d like to come out and shoot!
Are there any gun stores, pawn shops, or anyplace in the Austin area that has any sort of a used shotgun selection? I know, look online, but I’d much rather go look and handle a few options. I tried McBride’s and they didn’t have much of anything and were not super interested in being helpful. I also went to the gun show in Taylor the other day and there were no hunting type shotguns.

Unofficial meetup. Bring your guns, ammo, hearing and eye protection. We'll be in one of the Tactical Bays reserved from 1pm-4pm, our own little shooting range.
Pricing will be $15/hour, you can come for an hour, or all three. Go to the check-in building and say you're with the "Austin Guns Reddit Meetup". You must pay your own range fees.
BE SURE TO CHECK BACK TO THIS POST THE DAY OF IN CASE THE EVENT IS CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER.
In addition to following all of Copperhead Creek's rules, here are some early rules, but NOT EXHAUSTIVE:
We have some folding tables, but if you have more you can bring let me know! The more tables the better. Firearms will be cased and not touched when not in active use.
With that out of the way, let's have some fun and make new friends. I'm 37, male, software engineer. My name Jay. I'll be the tall skinny white guy wearing a red hat.
Hey ya’ll, I’m looking to buy a shot timer. I’m getting more serious about my training and want to track my splits and other data. I’m surprised at how expensive they are new so I’d prefer testing the waters used first.
Send me a message or reply and I can message you.
Hello everyone,
has anyone ever gotten a slide cut for an optic cut local to Austin? If so who did you use? Who should I not use?
Looking to cut a staccato C2 that is irons only. I know staccato offers their own but I am considering sending to Vulcan for direct mount of 509T and get the Ignis ports while its there which will include DLC recoating for around $560-$600.
Looking to rent a ss dr920 and cr920x. Anyone know if any of the ranges have them for rental?
Update: IT'S ON! Feb 22nd https://www.reddit.com/r/austinguns/comments/1idzs6w/feb_22nd_austinarea_shooting_meetup_copperhead/
(This isn't my normal gun account due to privacy)
Any interest in scheduling a tactical bay reservation at Copperhead Creek range with some folks? For those who aren't familiar a tactical bay is like your own little private range area. We'd likely rent the 95 yard one so we have plenty of space to shoot close or far.
I also have a large selection of firearms people are free to try, including a machine gun, just bring your own ammo or reimburse me. I also have numerous suppressors so if you haven't used those should be fun.
I'm extremely strict about safety, so only express interest if you're going to firmly follow the rules of firearms. No warnings, you will be asked to leave if you do anything dangerous.
I'm 37, software engineer, male.
I'm planning to buy my first firearm and would prefer to buy from a local shop rather than a mega sporting goods store. Looking at somethng very standard, e.g., Walther PDP Compact.
Any recommendations?
Y'all don't need to post publicly if you don't want. I recently moved to Austin and thought I'd try to see if there's any public land around Austin that has hogs to shoot. Gun or archery is fine. I can even help ranchers and farmers out with work if they need it, in exchange just to shoot some hogs.
Can anyone recommend a local gunsmith that can work on my Prodigy? Need to install an EGW ignition kit, work on the slide (disco hangs on slide) and maybe some slide/frame polishing? Using it for limited optics and just want it spruced up :)
About a year ago I winnowed out my "extra" brass.
Somehow I got rid of ALL my 44 special brass which I discovered when I went to reload.
I'm wanting to swap brass for 44 spl. 50 to 200 would be ideal.
I'm n N. Austin so anywhere in the surrounding area - Leander, Cedar Park, Manor, RR - is good.
Here's what I have to trade - cleaned and mostly de-primed mixed headstamp.
Numbers are approximate but close since I used a scale tared for 10 or even 20.
.223 : 135 pcs
40 S&W : 225 pcs
44 magnum : 90 pcs (can add some Starline to make up quantity)
45 Auto : 58 pcs.
300 BLK converted from .223 - a boatload available.
Thanks!
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone happen to know if any brick and mortar stores have 416 rigby ammo? picking up the rifle today, but reloading components won't be here until next week and i'm itching to shoot it this weekend. Prefer barnes or hornady ammo, willing to pay up to $200 for a box.
I am looking to take a beginner firearm class and this one is close to me. I have seen mixed reviews on their retail, but not much on the classes. I am wondering if this would be a good place to take a beginners class. Please let me know!
Thank you!

Hey all,
Heading down to Austin this year for a bachelor party and would love to head to a range that has skeet shooting!
Any recommendations?
Group will be about 7 dudes all over 25 years old.
Thanks in advance
Hi everyone, moving into a new house and looking to get a gun safe that can hold 6 rifles and shotguns along with some ammunition.
Anyone have a recommendation for a place to buy and / or install this? Looking to have this done in the next 30 days.
Thanks!
At least at the lake creek/183 location. I saw a post on the Austin subreddit about a CCWer who had some kind of medical episode at P Terry's, and I wonder if this is related.
I’m getting out of reloading and have a ton of things I’d like to sell. I was reloading 6.5cm and 9mm. There are so many little items and some big machines so I’m wondering what the best route would be to try and sell it?

I have these items posted on gafs subreddit but I'm local to Austin so if any of you guys would like to buy any of these things let me know.
I'm shooting more these days and with the price of .300 BLK and 5.56/223, it's starting to hurt my wallet a bit - I also hate wasting perfectly good brass. I'm considering getting into reloading but don't really want to sink that initial cost before actually trying it and/or learning from someone who knows what they're doing. Shoot me a message if you'd like some help reloading sometime, I'm happy to give you some of my brass and/or some cash as a form of payment for using your equipment and time.
I have a 338 lapua i want to shoot but i cant find a range that will let me shoot it. i also have a 50 that would be cool to shoot but i know thats a long shot.
What ranges allow move and shoot bays, and allow stage setups for pistol and PCC? (AR would be bonus).
What other options, preferably north and / or east, (I’m in round rock).
Thanks for any referrals.
Where can I find Eley 22lr ammunition in Austin?
