PvP not having a 1v1 gamemode has been a massive waste of potential.

What would a 1v1 gamemode look like?

*Overdoses on copium* Well its obvious that it wouldnt be balanced or fair. There are matchups between classes that are always going to favor one over the other. But that doesnt mean that competitive 1v1s are pointless. Some of the most popular esports arent fair that way. For example some SC2 maps heavily favor one race but that doesnt mean those maps never get played and cant be fun.

Instead a 1v1 gamemode would be more about pushing the limits of peoples understanding of builds and matchups. It would be for experimenting with counter builds and a test of not only mechanical skill but game knowledge. Imagine something like:

  • Instead of a single leaderboard each player could have stats for each class matchup. Win/loss ratios, average fight duration, etc. Also stats for the overall population like the most/least common usage of weapons/traits/utilities for each class.
  • Players would have a unique rating for each class.
  • You are locked into the class you que as. At the start of the match you can change your build however you like.
  • There would have to be a system to decide draws or prevent stalemates.
  • Stealth would have to be limited, or get reworked. Ok lets be real here, how many people would want to see SA thieves trolling in the majority of their fights? Many classes and builds have very little ability to hunt down a SA thief. Good thieves could almost always end with a draw if they couldnt win.
  • Matches should be open for anyone to spectate.

I understand pvp isnt the most popular for some very good reasons. Esports scene failed. Conquest is not a great gamemode for random ques. Anet's lack of moderation. Questionable class design and balance for competitive play. But over a decade later and Gw2 still has the best combat of any mmo, and its not even a contest. PvP still has so much potential that is going to waste. I would love to play and watch 1v1 Gw2 esports, or even just watch casual streaming and commentating on fights. It would be a great way to learn about the game and improve, but the scene is dead. I know that 1v1s probably wouldnt revive it but its still fun to think about. And it might give the people still playing a few more years in the game.

Getting back into GW2

I've been a player since launch. I've left and come back over the years. I used to be huge with fractals and WvW but I've always been a solo player. I'm looking to see if there is a way to get legendary armor by solo play or if I need to do group things. I could use some legendary trinkets and accessories as well.

Anyone have any tips? I'm hoping this time I get back into GW2 but we will see.

Okay Radiant Willbender is really OP. (Hear me out, this is from another perspective)

I've been a long-time GW2 player, and an on-and-off PvPer.

I've probably played maybe 2,000+ rounds in Unranked due to a "fear" of Ranked, until I said screw it, let's hop into Ranked to get the rewards.

660 matches later, I'm a Bear. 662 Ranked matches and 322 won, so pretty average or below average.

Today, I came back to GW2 after a 3 month break.

As usual, my Mechanist wins 80% of the sPvP matches I join. Soulbeast, lost 3 outta 3. Procmancer, lost 3 outta 3. I had lost 6 in a row, so I decided on a whim to try Willbender (FOR THE FIRST TIME).

I literally just used the same Radiant Willbender guide from Metabattle, hopped into a rando sPVP match... With the wrong weapons. I had S/S and GS, instead of Spear.

I didn't really know what skills did what, I only had maybe 45 seconds to read through them, so I told myself, just keyboard spam. Hit any skill that's on CD.

... Top kills, top damage, top healing. What the hell?

First match as Willbender and I was basically just spamming the crap outta anything that wasn't on CD.

Oh, and WHAT THE HECK is up with the mobility? I mean I've got like freaking 7 buttons out of 13 that have some sort of teleport/jump/closer.

I'm definitely gonna play this class more now and actually learn it... Kicking myself for always getting my ass kicked by Willbenders but always thinking "man I can't really be arsed to learn a new class now".

How spoilery is the new convergence?

I'm in the camp of female Sylvari mains and would like to hold off on playing the new episode until voice lines are added. Can I play the new convergence, or does it spoil some significant thing where it would be better to play the episode first? I mean beyond the fact that there's presumably some titan presence on this mountain and we have to fight it.

Remnants are quite punishing (Bearskin war helm, Standing stones timepiece)

I get it, I was foolish to get the achievements done early and then salvage the item rewards. I should pay for the convenience of... freeing up two bank slots. But adding 50 Amalgamated Gemstones to the Bearskin War Helm Remnant and Standing Stones Timepiece Remnant is steep for this lack of foresight.

This isn't how SotO legendaries worked: it was safe to complete the legendary-related achievements and collections at release and salvage the rewards. The Spear already juiced the market since it costs 275 Amalg so it's not like they needed a new Amalg sink. The quarterly release schedule obscures the info about what we need. The items could have had flavor text day 1 indicating they'd be part of forge recipes.

This doesn't feel like a 50g mistake. I guess it's a drop in the bucket of the cost of a legendary but it feels cruel, aimed squarely at regular player behavior. I'm not likely to keep every exotic reward in future releases, just less likely to play them early, which is a shame.

Looking for headgear

I was working on my winter outfit(I like to change each season) and my coloring is blues and white. The thing is that my character hair clashes so I was wondering if there were any headgear that have hair that could be colored?

Currently I am wearing Iron's Tailpipe Bandana. It works but isn't perfect so do people know other headpiece?

(Most hats remove the hair which are okay but not what I want right now)

Convergences chatter sucks for anyone else?

It's impossible to hear anything that is going on with SFX, player audio cues, fighting going all around, 2000 pop-ups telling what to do and the bears talking.

I know I'm autistic to some degree so I'm slightly more annoyed by sensory overload but at this point it's really an acessibility issue.

50 things going on and popping up at the same time while you're tying to understand what to do and not just AFK while other people are already doing the instance is just stressful and stupid.

Can't they really find a way to pace how they give info to the player? Seems like the ideal is "ignore everything and do what everyone else is doing". Like they just gave up and accepted that every time you play it you'll be able to get 2 voice lines and maybe 3 pop-ups and ignore the rest and eventually you'll see it all after playing 50 times the same convergence.

I do like the update but good god it's silly how worse this game keeps getting with the tutorials and speech bubbles/comms/NPC talk.

Best item conversion prices (for unwanted items, not T4,5,6 mats etc)

So this might be asking a lot, but is anyone aware of anywhere theres a list of best/most cost efficient conversions to do?

I unlocked Gharr Leadclaw last night and was stoked that I can finally get rid of all the Eitrite Ingots, Eye's of Kormir etc, but then i was sat there wondering if there was a conversion 'list' that said something like convert Eitrite Ingots -> Eternal Ice Shards -> S4 currency -> Volatile Magic -> Trophy Shipment -> Gold. Part of the problem was a post where i saw someone mention converting to Tyrian Defense Seals and i was super surprised and wondered why

Like i say it might be a lot, I know Fast Farming has the list of the best prices for certain items, but this is more involved than that i think as thats normally just a "I have XXX of currency YYY" (unless i've missed something?)

Anyone? Or am i just bang out of luck?

Can we get an option to hide everything in the the weapon display decoration that isnt the weapon?

Or at least like it was in the pcgamer preview.. kinda takes away the novelty when everyone has the same yellow shine on it.

[Wing 8 Spoilers] Clock Strategy Guide for Decima, the Stormsinger.

Motivation

Hello. I enjoy the new raids.

Of the three bosses introduced with wing 8, Decima seems to be the one most people are struggling with. This is because managing Decima's mechanics are mutually exclusive: if you bait lances, you're affected by Galvanic Sensitivity, making you take increased damage from greens.

This necessarily requires splitting every squad into two groups of players: a ranged one baiting the lances (they target the furthest players!) and a melee one handling spreads (which target the closest!) and greens, and lots of issues appear when there is any overlap on these roles.

However, this idea has one major problem. The conduits around the arena charge up based on proximity to the furthest player from Decima, who is part of the ranged subgroup. These charged conduits will then spawn greens right behind the vulnerable players, who have to dodge them on the fly while targeted by lances! Furthermore, the melee subgroup has to weave through the deadly lances to collect these greens, leading to many points of failure.

Current groups work around this by having a dedicated player permanently off-stack kiting the furthest arrow away from the ranged group, or stacking the lances together to minimise the risk they pose to the melee group. This strategy, however, aims to completely negate the overlap of these two mechanics in phase 2 and 3 by naturally rotating the squad clockwise as the encounter progresses.

Starting from phase 2, the squad separates into melee and ranged subgroups. The ranged sub should stack in front of one of the six inner conduits, while the melee sub stacks on the opposite side of the boss. One of the ranged people is the primary kiter: they should have a mobility skill and position further than everyone else from the boss.

When fluxlances spawn, the closest conduits to the primary kiter will empower (red in picture). Since the ranged sub has a lot of space, they can spread the lances out, taking care to not hit any conduits, greatly diminishing the healing pressure for the ranged sub.

After the lances, the ranged sub rotates clockwise to the next uncharged inner conduit, and the melee sub follows, remaining on the opposite side.

When lances spawn, the primary kiter will be targeted by the focused lance, and can blink out and place it on the furthest uncharged conduit from the boss. Again, the closest conduits to the kiter will be charged. The melee group in the meanwhile can do spreads and collect incoming greens without interference from the lances.

After the lances, once more the ranged sub rotates clockwise, and the cycle repeats. The end result is that the charged conduits will remain mostly contained to areas that the ranged sub will not venture through, making the mechanics overall more relaxed for both groups. In phase 3, the only additional relevant mechanic is the green arrow:

However, since the melee squad will already be stacked on the opposite side of the ranged squad, this mechanic becomes almost trivial to satisfy (provided they are not blown away by the gusts during this phase).

Are the prices of Legendary weapons going to drop?

With the new astral rewards allowing you to complete half of a Gift of Fortune essentially for free, along with the other bits and pieces you get, would you expect that the prices of legendaries is going to start dropping significantly?

Trying to decide if I should cash in on two that I have at the moment going for around 1.5k gold before they're worth a lot less to me

As the title says, have they added the 6 new relics released recently to 'Janthir Wilds gear box' in Janthir Wilds reward track. If they arent added can we expect them to add them to the box later?

Salvaging for Trailblazer's Inscription

Firstly, can it be done? Also, can you salvage weapons or armour or both for inscriptions? Looking to get Trailblazer's inscription to change stats on ring. I had an infused ring drop, I attuned it for third slot but kept unwanted stats, I expected it to wipe but lesson learned.

Following build guides help

So I'm following this open world over build but substituting all equipment and weapons with exotics. As a relatively new player I'm confused by this build guide stating: "Ascended gear and stat infusions are not required; you can use exotic gear with the same stats." So I use Devona heavy as a warrior for the main armor pieces as I understand, what about trinkets/accessories? What would be exotic equivalent and for weapons and how do I figure this out on my own in the future?

I am super late with that, I have the sheet music here for months but never thought of sharing it. „The Lowland Kodan“ is my favourite piece of the new expansion and I love playing it on my Low Whistle. Rift essences usage

Hello all, I wonder if someone could guide me what to do with rift essences if I am not interested in crafting obsidian armor (I have raid armor).

I checked fast farming but I am not sure if the "most profitable" way is not a lot of effort in the end.

For context: I am just casually playing atm unregulary 1-2 hours per week (played more in the past). Next goal is to go for the legy amulet. Probably legy rings after that.

Maybe I will one day go for legy weapons again converting them to gold (have 2 legy kits from vault).

Is there anything I could use rift essences for to make that easier or speed up the process of my next goals? Currency conversion etc. Or should I just convert them to gold? If yes: What's a low effort/time way? I don't want to spend my short time converting essences for several weeks.
