Saw this at an antique store and had to get it
Hey everyone,
I have a 1995 Pontiac Firebird Formula with the LT1 engine. I recently got a fuel tank from a junkyard from a 95 Camaro. I was able to get it back home (yes I had to drop exhaust and suspension - it wasn't that bad since I replaced all of the rear suspension with new parts), got it bolted in to my car, hooked up the new pump/sending unit, and car runs great. However I noticed it takes more fuel than what the tank rated capacity is (15.5 gallons). I put about 17.5 gallons in it and I cut it off manually.
My question is - are the fuel tanks underrated? I know the later model cars had a plastic tank and I think it might have been a different capacity, but I literally compared this tank to the one I already had and they're identical with no leaks in it (already had some fuel in it from the junkyard car when I got it). Before I put this new tank in, I could only fill up for around 15 gallons give or take.
I looked around and underneath the car and there are no fuel leaks anywhere and no leaks on the filler neck. I can smell gas but I know that's from the charcoal canister (didn't hook one of the lines back up). I shook the charcoal canister and it is not full of gas. The car runs great like normal, and my fuel gauge is stuck on empty so I'll have to also troubleshoot that.
Anybody have any ideas or have had a similar problem? I bought the Spectra Fuel pump and housing (SP3908H). It pumps fuel great, just the gauge doesn't work (which isn't a big deal since I reset my mileage every fill up). I can always get to the pump again if needed since the previous owner already cut the access panel to the pump in the trunk.
Thanks for all of the help!
I have manual windows for a 99 camaro does anyone know where I can get the power window assembly to swap it?
Title. 95 camaro z28. I want my buddy to take off my muffler and weld in some pipe to replace it, and he’s asking for $200. Is this a fair price for the work?
As the title says, I'm looking for some tail lights for a 2002 trans am that aren't cracked and have no signs of water leakage.
So far, my searches haven't yielded anything. If anyone knows of any place that has them in stock please let me know.
Hey friends this is my red 2002 non WS6 Trans Am
I'm not looking to drop my car significantly since I have long tubes.
OK, so I'm in a pickle here. Was working on replacing and fixing some things and when I went to start it up to functional check it, I opened the door and the damn alarm went off. Problem? My fob is not programmed so can't just turn off alarm. Can't program fob because damn alarm goes off. Have to disconnect negative to kill that. First off, not sure why the alarm was set in the 1st place as I was in and out of the damn thing since like Saturday working on random stuff. What do I need to do/disconnect/set on fire to be able to program my fob and start the dang car?
TLDR I suck at vehicle electric stuff and my car is being a demon
Bunch of bushings need to be replaced on my 4th gen. All I can find are polyurethane bushings which folks say are harsh on bad roads (LA is pothole central) and binds the suspension on f-bodies. Can't find rubber versions anywhere though... are poly bushings really that bad? if so, any preferred sites where you grabbed rubber ones?
For those wondering, the bike is a 2024 Yamaha MT-07.
Dumb question probably, but I have a bit of an issue with the idle in my ‘95 firehawk. I took the throttle body off to clean it, once I put it back on the engine cranks as usual but idles very high, around 1600-2000rpm, and takes longer to idle back down if I tap the throttle a bit. It’s also throwing a code but since I don’t have an OBD1 reader or OBD2 connector I’m unable to see what the code is. Any suggestions?
Thought it looked pretty good here
Anyone know where the evap service port is on a 1998 Pontiac firebird 3.8v6? Can’t find a diagram online.
Have what appears to be a small coolant leak getting onto my belt and slingingsomecoolant.. Upper hoses look ok. It doesn't seem to leak all the time. Power steering was getting stiff made me look into this. Anyone else have this happen?
need a rear end but im broke and i also am worried about installing a 9 inch quick performance because i have a driveshaft and other things from previous owner
Door handle broke so I'm replacing it and I noticed that the screws have been completely stripped so I am unable to use them after I take them out. Anyone know where I can find new ones to replace them all?
Hello, my seats are comfortable except there is no head rest. Fulling leaning back sucks. I wanna swap atleast the drivers side out to a seat that is either the same with a head rest or more comfortable than stock but also has a headrest. You guys got any recommendations?
1995 camaro z28 automatic convertible currently with just under 112k.
Thanks 😊
My second Firehawk. Love these cars.
