Any interest in Japanese Swordsmanship?

I've been training solo for a few years now and it's getting to a point to where I need a training partner to work drills. Anyone out there have any interest in training?

good place for a 50th birthday celebration

Hi: I am turning 50 the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Obviously I can't celebrate that day! It will have to be the following Saturday. I have had a lot of bad luck in my life, so I can't have a big, expensive celebration like a lot of people can. I had thought I might do a karaoke thing but maybe there is a bar with a good private room I can rent or something? Preferably a place without live music every Saturday night (live music gets really loud!). I am not familiar with too many places around here. Would love suggestions! Thanks!

Are Kids Trick or Treating Tonight?

I kind of feel dumb, I'll feel worse if it turns out we're the only ones on the block all set up with candy and stuff and everyone else knew no one is out tonight... My anxiety is ✨popping off✨

ISO RHD vehicle

Needing one for work (post office) and am trying to check all my options!! Been looking at Facebook, too, but haven’t had a ton of luck. Also, any hits on auto shops that work on imported vehicles would potentially be good to know, toooo

Citizens of Fayetteville should be furious.

Drake St. and Gregg St. walnut grove has been cleared! At one time I knew the owner’s daughter of the land at Drake and Gregg. The house was surrounded by a Black Walnut grove her grandfather planted as part of a UofA project. Back in the 90’s we’d have bonfires in the field next the grove. It was amazing and beautiful!

A few years ago they cleared a section to build that stupid office building and I thought that was as far as it would go. NOPE! I go by there 2 times a day and they cut down all of the trees along the tracks and behind the building.

This is terrible! I thought Fayetteville was big on protecting trees and the environment. I remember the girl sitting in the tree where the target is now. Nobody seems to care now!

Bulk rolling papers

I used to order a case of rolling papers from Amazon but they don't ship here anymore.

Where can I buy like 20+ packs of papers for a reasonable price?

Are the smoke shops in town decently priced or should I drive to Missouri and hit a smoke shop there?

I am assuming those Low Price Cigarette stores will have better prices than head shops, can anyone confirm?

Home restoration/renovation companies

Hello all, I think it's getting time for my old (built 1940s) house to get some restoration. I've tried to hold off till I retire and sell but I think I need to just bite the bullet and renovate. (Hoping that will keep the value) I'm gonna need foundation repair, flooring repair (some rooms have no subflooring), plumbing, electrical, and window/door upgrades. I live in a great neighborhood, (South Fayetteville) and I love this house but it's time to do some major work to keep it's value and longevity. I've spoken with "remodelers" but they seem to just want to slap some paint, throw in new windows (which quickly go out of wack from foundation heaving), put LVP over my old wood flooring and call it a day. I'm looking for a remodeling company that cares about old homes and wants to restore them as the bones of this house are solid. It might even take gutting and restoring. I don't know at this point.

Anyone with ideas or leads on this? TIA

PS. No, I'm not interested in selling now.

Have you ever been to a Speedfriending event? Join us this Wednesday evening to make some friends

The goal is to create deep friendships among people.

We will have small group conversations (3-4 people) for roughly 10 mins. Then rotate again. To facilitate the conversations, we will have some prompts. Some prompts are going to be fun and others will be a little bit more enlightening.

It can be hard to put yourself out there. But we encourage you to try it. You might find your best friend here!

This group’s core goal is to fight social isolation. Nonprofit, non partisan, volunteer based organization.

Please help us to spread the word?

Opportunities for Counselors

Hi! I am about to graduate with a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and am interested in moving from my current city. One of the potential places I am considering is the Northwest Arkansas region. What sorts of mental health resources and treatment centers exist in the area? I'd love to learn more about places I could apply for a job! Also, if there are some therapists on this page that have information about the mental health provider community or networking pages, please let me know!

Chilled out yoga?

I’m looking for a yoga class that doesn’t have dance music or a serious workout vibe. I’d be cool with some gentle rhythmic chanting, but would rather hear the subtle creaking of my joints and tensioned passing of wind from my fellow class-goers.

In all seriousness, I’m just looking for a yoga class or studio that doesn’t play music. This used to be a thing, but maybe I’m just old.

Used Car dealership in NWA that offer financing without a credit check?

I think I’ll be needing to replace my current car soon and it’s kind of unexpected. What’s a good, trustworthy used car dealership around here that don’t deny you based on your credit?

Locally owned jobs

I'm so tired of working for massive corporations. Anyone got some leads on local jobs?

I've got a lot of retail experience, a good amount of restaurant experience, and my last two jobs were as a Baker.

Open to trying just about anything, as long as it's honest.

Post-Helene folks looking for a house to rent

Hey all - I hope this is okay! I put it on the moving thread too.

My partner and I (and our two furry bbs) are relocating to the area from Asheville after Helene since I was able to land a job as an educator. We are excited to be in the area, even though the circumstances are less than ideal.

We’re looking for a house to rent anytime in late November or December with a budget of $2k monthly rental tops.

Just wanted to post in case anyone knew of any feelers out there… please DM me!🤞

Uptown Fayetteville Apartments - Any Residents Here?

Are any residents from Uptown Fayetteville Apartments here? I have lived here for more than 20 months and still have a lease till 2025, but recent events have left me rather rattled.

When I moved here, I loved the place and the management was really responsive. We have had emergency maintenance issues and the on-site team were here within 10-15 minutes, resolving any situations quickly.

now? There is no longer anyone I know well in management - property mgr turnover (courtesy of Sync Residential) is absolutely insane. the maintenance team is extremely unreliable, does not live on-site, and closes out maintenance tickets before the issues are resolved.

I feel that all the trust I had for them is gone. Does anyone know what is happening and anything is being done about it? are there any recourse?

TIA!
