If anyone is looking for a produce box, I just started using farm to people. It’s 25$ for a customizable box of 6-8 types of produce. A lot of their farms use organic and pesticide free practices. This week I got butternut squash, bok choy, Brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, mandarins, shiitake mushrooms. You can add on other staple items too! Just wanted to share in case you’re looking to add more fresh items and cook more, adding my referral link I hope that’s ok! https://farmtopeople.com/referral.php?id=37267 Use code SHARETHELOVE to get 10$ off your first order too :)
Hi friends! I am curious about the reasons why you go to farmers markets? What does farmers market mean to you?
A while ago someone (not here) asked if there was an app to handle part of his farmer's market business. It sounded rather specialized and I offered to maybe write something up for him, but I never got an answer.
I was wondering if it made sense for me to build it anyway. This guy was a grower and had vendors that sold his produce at farmers markets. He wanted an app that the vendors could use to enter in the sales for the day. He'd then be able to generate sales projections, expense reports, etc. Up until then, he was doing all of this work manually.
I don't know a lot about the "business end" of farmer's markets. Is this an app that anyone else might be able to use?
If not, I'll probably just abandon the idea, but it does sound like it might be useful.
I'd like to have a bunch of the product on display, partly to demonstrate the scale of my production but also to show off the cool labels and multiple flavors.
That said, my booth is run by me and only me and the product is small, expensive, and easily pocketable.
How can I display my product without running risk of theft when I am engaging with customers and not keeping a close eye on the table itself and others around?
Overall, the majority of people attending these markets are honorable and not thieves, but there have been enough thieves for me to need a change.
I was thinking potentially acrylic boxes with backs to prevent people from easily snatching a bottle, but then figure someone may just snatch the entire box.
The other idea was to put only empty packaging on the table so that if a theft occurs they're only getting the box/bottle, and not the contents inside, but that will likely lead to confusion and mixups on my end as people pick it up to inspect and purchase.
I make some bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers that all of the adults in my family really enjoy. As it's not worth it to just make a few, I made about 50 the other day for just my wife and I. Knowing that there is no way we would eat them all that night, I planned on bringing a few to my sister and brother-in-law, too.
That still left about 25 or so extra. I decided to try vacuum sealing and freezing them. This made me think that maybe I could sell them that way at the farmers market in the summer. I don't think I've ever seen frozen foods at our market before.
Do you have frozen foods at your markets and think this could be feasible? Is this something I might have better luck with in Facebook Marketplace or something similar?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Hello if you sell produce at a farmers market would you mind answering these questions please, thank you if you do!
Ask someone at a farmers market: how do you keep away pests? Do you use any pesticides? If not what?
How do you fertilize? Do you use chemicals? If not what?
I'm young and new to the game. I'd like to start selling my homemade dog treats at the local farmers markets and elsewhere and an instrumental factor to production will be putting my little "Not For Human Consumption; Dog Food; Guaranteed Analysis: ; etc." label on each roll of food/treats. Because I'm hand packaging myself, each individual bag will vary slightly in weight so I'll need a setup where my standard label of information can print out with the custom weight of each bag.
I will be doing this at home so I'll have wifi and laptop (incase the cheapest way is via an app that controls a scale and label printer). Thanks You!
Hi everyone I’m on a team at the university of Akron. We are collecting data for our senior capstone class on farmers markets events and attendance. If you have time and would be willing to take our survey we would greatly appreciate it!

Planting my last round of carrots and using the cornstarch gel, I started to wonder if I could ship live plants using the gel to keep the roots hydrated but not add to the shipping weight using moistened soil. My fear is exposure to heat making it break down and turn messy. Has anyone done this?

I started an Ice Cream mobile cart business and would like to sell at my local farmers market in Southern California. Given that the ice cream I make (paletas - mexican ice cream pops) is home made, reading on line we fall into the cottage food law, I'm wondering how mobile ice cream carts are able to sell in farmers market or other public spaces. Any information or direction is greatly appreciated.
Hey there! I sell healthy noodles, and I need a company that can print my labels onto the bag and ships the bags to me. Does anyone know of a resource for this? I am having trouble finding it.
Hey guys! I am doing research for a new venture called Agrary! Agrary aims to provide you with an online farmers market, providing fresh, organic produce to your doorstep within 18 hours of harvest. It would help greatly if you could answer the questions below -
What is one inconvenience you experience while going to farmer’s markets?
Would you say that an online farmers market would be more convenient to you? Why?
What would you say is the biggest benefit of a farmers market?
Thank you so much
We started a live cooking show at our farmers market using only ingredients available from the vendors. The response was amazing. Were probably going to do this weekly, alternating between sweet dishes and dinner/lunch style cooking for 1 or 2 people.
