Welcome to /r/FanTrailers, a subreddit of the fans, by the fans and for the fans!
Have you ever found a fan-made trailer in a dark corner of the internet and thought to yourself "Okay wow, this is way better than the official one!"? Are you looking for a place to share your latest creation on which you spent 36 hours, non-stop? Or, maybe, you are just eager to discover the wonders (and horrors!) that fandom may birth? Well, if I didn't already spell it out for you - you've come to the right place!
By default, and for your own safety, always assume spoilers. Check the title and comments for spoiler warnings.
You can use [OC] (= Original Content) tags when posting your own creations. In addition, you could also use the special "Original Content" link flair which is colored differently (purple). You can also edit the text. It could bring more attention to your post.
However, before posting, please acknowledge the following guidelines:
"The 8 Rules"
Rule 1: Please, treat each other with respect and be considerate. Downvoting is not considered critique here, unless it's accompanied with an explanation for the downvote.
Rule 2: Any kind of work can be trailered and posted here as long as it (1) is a trailer and (2) is fan-made. Official trailers are not acceptable, but they may still be posted in the comment section.
Rule 3: No overt pornography or excessive nudity. Brief nudity is accepted but must be accompanied with a NSFW tag.
Rule 4: Very excessive violence will also be removed if present. Please consider using a NSFW tag if appropriate. If you are unsure if your submission follows the rules, PM a mod and they will let you know if it works or not.
Rule 5: Any video host is good, although YouTube is highly advised. The higher the resolution, the better. Avoid submitting videos with the "Private" setting, country-blocked videos or referee links.
Rule 6: Please flair your post. Flairing will be enforced when you forget to do so.
Rule 7: Please mention the name of the work you're trailering in your post, or at least comment on the post with the author's name and/or source.
Rule 8: Add a spoiler warning if necessary.

Hi everbody,
I have been strugling on how to make a story in my mind. Structure story in 3 points like Derek Lieu showed in his videos. But problem is I do not know how to start it and how to use that in movies to make it understandable for audience and not reveal spoilers. I know some people say watch a movie and take notes of lines and shots. I struggle with building a story mostly, would love to know how can I break it down so it is easier to do. Do you have any ideas or the way you do your own stuff? I try to do a lot of style trailers but I feel like doing style trailers is like cheating imo you do not learn you just copy shots and match dialogue. I do have original trailers but they are not as good in story wise and I do no make them constantly because, the way I edit my trailers is work from end to middle to first part. I like working the cool parts in music but when I get to first part I get editors block. Don't know what to put for first part. This is my channel and playlist of original trailers. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdmtiiS4D4ynaYq062D93t9tnn4Jhtfzf I do have old channel I lost that has more original trailers but this one is up to date. It depresses me a little bit when I see other editors make cool trailers with clear good story and I am making gibberish trailer like trailers.
