Best tire size for 18x9.5 +35offset?

Currently was gifted some 235/45s which are pretty tall, rubs and makes the car sit higher then what I want. What would be the best idea size? I was thinking 225/35s to get some low but idk.

Do modifications to my car become ticket able once I cross state lines

I want to take my FR-S on a road trip but I’m trying to figure out if there’s anything I need to expect or change before I go. The modifications to my car I’m talking about are things such as window tint, windshield banner, modified exhaust/headers, etc. All the stuff I have done is legal where I live which is also where the car is registered, but if I drive it to a state where some of that isn’t legal for a roadtrip. Is it possible I will get a ticket even though the car isn’t registered there?

Thank you

One of you was kind enough to leave this little keychain on my door handle. Has anyone else in here been gifted one of these?

Does my FRS sound okay?

So I just recently bought a 2013 FRS with 116k miles on it. My sister owns a 2020 86 and when I compare her engine to mine, my FRS just seems to have an extra "click" to it aside from the sewing machine sounding engine. I also notice my AC compressor clutch engages and disengages much more frequently than her 86. I took it a Toyota dealership and they said everything looks fine but I'm not convince. If anyone can give me some advice and input I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Is there any data on how much catless headers increase emissions?

I know there are two cats, but the one in the header usually does most of the work. Do emissions get 3x worse? 10x?

*Someone* has failed emissions with catless headers before, so the person doing the test would have seen what's coming out of the tailpipe, but I can't find any data here or on ft86club.

Coilovers help

Hello. I’m looking to get some new coilovers for my first gen brz. I have a budget around $2500, preferably less. I enjoy going to the track or canyons every week or so.

I was looking at race-comp SS2 since they are made by KW and have good reviews. I have also looked at Ohlins road and track. Any opinions?

Blinking engine light

Hey yall. My 16 brz has a blinking engline light while the car is moving and when i come to a stop it goes away. I obviously tried to not move it at all but i had to park it where a shortbed tow can pick me up. I was at an autozone and used there obd reader with no codes. My car does have a history of turning off by itself while at a stop light then all the dash lights turn on. This would occcur about once every 2 months. It runs smooth when i did have to drive it a bit. I believe its the fuel pump but i am not mechanically inclind to say. Its at 90k miles. Sparks replaced about 15-20k miles ago. Have you guys ran into this issue before??

DRL Relay for FRS

Does anybody know what kind of relay is used for the DRLs in a 2015 Scion FRS? Is it a 5 pin?

Where to find the wiring for the button trunk release on the center console and the trunk release for the key?

I bought an frs that had a rear end collision. The only things that are wrong is that the trunk doesn’t open from the button of the center console and with the key (only manually). I haven’t found a video that resolves so if you guys have one could you please share it. Or where can I find the schematic? I also don’t have carpet lining in my trunk anywhere.

Timing chain

Is this a normal amount of play? One side is completely tense and the other has room to move, should it be able to move?

Does anyone have red coolant in FRS, 86 or BRZ ?

In a different post someone pointed out that I have red-colored coolant.

I was told it should be blue.

1 - Does anyone have red coolant in their FRS, 86 or BRZ ?

2 - Please let me know the brand and product number of your coolant ?

3 - Also, how often should I change it now that I have a supercharger + E85 ?

..

Thanks in advance.

Oil Not Warming Up Issue with Custom Oil Cooler Setup on Subaru BRZ

Hey everyone,

I’m running a custom oil cooling setup in my Subaru BRZ, which includes a Mocal sandwich plate with a thermostat. I bought the Mocal plate used, and it worked fine during the summer, but now that temperatures have dropped, I’m facing an issue where the oil isn’t warming up properly.

Here’s the situation:

  • Oil Temps: During my commute, oil temp hovers around 70°C (158°F) and only creeps up slightly to 80C (176°F) when I’m stationary. Even with aggressive driving, like extended drifting at high RPMs, or just high RPM highway driving it still seems stuck at 70°C (158°F).
  • Thermostat Specs: From what I understand, Mocal usually offers thermostats with opening temperatures of 80°C 80C (176°F) or 92°C (197 °F), but not 70°C (158°F). Since my oil temp sits right at 70°C, I’m starting to wonder if the thermostat is malfunctioning and maybe staying partially open.

I’m concerned about my oil, especially with the risk of water accumulation if the temps don’t get high enough to evaporate moisture. I change the oil every 1.8–2.4k miles, but I’d prefer to avoid any buildup or potential degradation.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone else experienced similar low oil temps with a Mocal setup?
  2. Could a stuck-open thermostat be causing this?
  3. Would switching to a 92°C thermostat solve the problem, or is this more likely due to my custom setup (since the cooler’s radiator is from another brand)?

Notes: Oil is Motul 300V 5W-30, soon to be changed to Motul for Subaru 0W-20

Any insights or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Interior Update: Steering Wheel Cover

After about 4ish hours I finished up stitching up my steering wheel with a kit off of amazon. Brand was Loncky and was $30 so I figured why not. Came out pretty decent for first timing any form of stitching. I did dissasemble the wheel from the car and trim from the steering wheel so I can get the cover to look as good as I can. Fitment is about a 9/10, what you would expect from a price point this low. Overall it’s night and day difference from the factory wheel. Would recommend for anyone looking for a cheap way to upgrade a wheel without replacement.
