It seems like half of them haven't been updated, and the other half are still old and are barely compatible.
I tried running ESG, Endless Moons, Political Hero Trees, and Better Planet Generation ESG on the latest version of the game, but it freezes my computer and takes 24 gigs of memory during generation, and just crashed when I tried to colonize a desert planet.
I want to keep playing this game even just in singleplayer, but it seems like it's just too old nowadays.

My favorite game is Rate My Dystopia, rate on a scale of 0-10 how dystopian your favorite research is in Endless Space 2. Have you taken your Patriot Pills yet?
Also, I have no idea where these descriptions for the Ark Modules are in game.
I can't find any setting in game to change the brightness, my hardware brightness is maxed.
This is the same device I used to play ES2 on, I have over 500 hours on the game and am only missing one achievement.
On start-up the game has washed out, very low brightness, estimate 20-30% and I cannot find any setting or hotkey to increase in. Anyone previously experience or solve this problem?

I am trying to solve the bug that is fixed by this solution on my Linux Mint system. I know it's this because I dual boot, had the same issue on Windows, and this worked. Ideally, I would like to not have to use Windows, so would appreciate guidance on how to apply this fix. I am running my game through whatever method Steam uses by default, and have tried through Proton Experimental.
Edit, Solution: Switch to Proton Experimental, and set launch options to OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command% -window -noborder
I have no idea what to do at this point. The game isn’t frozen, it doesn’t crash, its not even marked as ”not responding”, the loading bar is done it just won’t play the intro and start the game. With mods, custom factions or vanilla it just wont start.
Here’s what Ive tried:
Reinstalling dotnet, directx, c++ etc
updating visual and audio drivers
running game as admin by default
installing Endless Space 1
launch options such as force opengl and novideo
ensured that documents was not set to “read only”
added an exeption in my antivirus for endless space 2
ensured there are no special characters in the endless space file path
tried to overdose on ivermectin
The only way I got through trying all these was by microdosing horse tranquilizer to keep myself powering through, but alas in typical 4X style this game is so broken that eventually the carpal tunnel syndrome overwhelmed me.
Please for the love of all things holy if you have any advice I pray you bestow it upon me, I spent so much time making cool custom races just for the game to not work.
Sometimes the game at random seems to stop receiving my input. All the FX of the buttons are there but the game is just stuck not doing anything. Cant click on curiosities, cant assign hero skills, cant quicksave, cant end the turn etc
So, what are the best visual affinities? For reference, visual affinities determine what slots your ship hulls have, determine your faction quest, and give you a (usually unimportant) unique tech or two. My thoughts on them, and I'd love to hear yours.
Riftborn's faction quest gives some crazy bonuses (specifically -30% ship cost law and +3 strategic resource passive) but I don't like that they require you to build pops instead of growing naturally with food. Their hyper-specialized ships are... interesting. Not sure if I'd say they are good exactly though.
Lumeris seem pretty good overall. The 30% Industry boost to governed systems is neat, and I like their ship arrangements. Especially the smaller ones. Extra trade companies is nice, it seems like it would pair well with the faction trait that reduces inflation per trade company, but I have not noticed a major difference.
Horatio seems very good as well. Instead of that useless building that gives +1 pop slot on sterile, you get a building which gives +1 pop slot on ALL planets. Horatio ships look super awesome, and they are versatile and durable at the cost of having usually one less slot (no big deal for large ships, but crippling for the smaller ships). Solid faction quest bonuses.
Imperial and Sophons both seem pretty generic but okayish. Vodyani have nothing going for them as far as I can tell. Cravers get a nice temporary boost from their faction quest but otherwise seem unremarkable (and are gross bugs). Unfallen... I feel like I need to look into them a bit more. Vaulters have several unique and interesting modules but none seem great. Hissho have a good bonus to ship module damage at the end of their quest but not much else.
The Umbral Choir and Nakalim DLCs are hot garbage so I don't know or care about them.
Which do you think is best and why?
Basically the title
Where is the file I can edit to reduce the number of rounds it takes to build something? It's for the AI and me as well, I'm having a hard time having fun because it takes forever for me and the AI to build a fleet.
In Endless Space 2. They seem identical conceptually
I've got an ash planet I'd like to turn to desert but it has "Ancient Ruins" anomaly, as well as antimatter and void stone, so I wanted to make sure.
I know the Riftborn quest, and thus the Riftborn VISUAL affinity, can give you a big bonus to strategic resources. Do any GAMEPLAY affinities (e.g. Planet Brokers, Gene Hunters, etc.) get any kind of bonus to strategic or luxury resource gathering?
My friend and I get desyncs and loading issues every 5-10 turns and we do not know what to do about. It honestly makes the game feel unplayable. Is there a solution to this?
Formerly the H-Field Class, the Yeranev Q-Field Class is a relatively innocuous logistics vessel which is designed to operate in groupings of three and serve as a small logistics fleet within a regular battlefleet; it is named for the Q-Field Type fleet shield projector system of which the constant operation and maintenance of is this vessels primary function – the overall strength of the shield multiplying with the addition of any more vessels of this type into the Q-Field matrix. In addition to this these vessels monitor the entire fleet for external damage and conduct real-time repairs even in the thick of battle by way of extensive bays of heavily shielded semi-autonomous repair drones which routinely sweep the entire fleet. Equipped with classified jamming technologies these vessels cannot even be targeted in battle by conventional means as they present as an ever-shifting scramble on all forms of sensor radar; if by chance they are targeted then the Q-Field Class is equipped with a unique form of anti-matter shielding which produces a personal field roughly three times the strength of its Q-Field output. Whilst the operation of weaponry in combat is not really the business of this vessel it is equipped nonetheless with a modest array of weapon interference beams which allows this vessel to play a more direct role in the support of other combat vessels by temporarily disabling portions of enemy armaments.

Hello,
I know game settings is largely preferential, but are there certain setups more popular than others? What will I typically see most often in lobbies?
[ES2] I ran into an issue yesterday as the Lumeris with a trade route that couldn't find a path back to the subsidiary. I already had one trade company and subsidiary active. The route was contained to a single constellation (no wormholes needed) and it was passing through Sophon space (at peace) without issue. I built the second Trade HQ at the opposite end of the SAME constellation (still no wormholes), but the route was m_u_c_h longer and it traveled through Horatio space (cold war, closed borders). I thought the Lumeris 'Blockade Breaker' trait would still allow the trade route to go through Horatio because we were only at Cold War, but it said it couldn't find a path. I negotiated open borders with Horatio by giving them a garbage system I took off the UE in a defensive war, but alas couldn't get them to peace. Still, even with the borders now open and no wormholes or pirates on the route the Trade window still says a route cannot be found. Any thoughts? What am I missing?
EDIT: Screenshot for those interested/requested.
i know it's not called Nephilim .. I've forgotten their name.
This was a cool expansion and it fixed the trading company bug (where you can't build more than one) but I noticed the alt skins - black craver ships, mezari UE ships (and all the others) have just disappeared ... as well as the little green speed freak alien. It looks like this DLC cancelled out a couple of the other DLC somehow - any ideas on how to fix this?
I can't play cravers without the black ships. You all get it. Craver Prime.
Everytime I try to join my friend I am stuck at "waiting for game data" in the initial loading screen. We have both verified files, tried hot joining, confirmed our dlcs are the same, and restarted our computers.
Honestly, I have no clue how to fix this and any help would be appreciated.
The title says it all, i bought this game hoping that i would be able to colonize/conquer the while galaxy but pretty quick found myself in the problematic issue of having low to non existent approval because of it. I have tried a few things to change this.
I honestly don't know what to do next and im thinking about returning it because a game that gives you such a stupid reason to not conquer the whole universe just makes no fun. I hope anyone out there can help me overcome this issue, if you have any idea, just answer me because this game is really good, were it nit for over colonization fee.
Im the man that likes to dream and think about future of the games i love, and im curious what are your ideas of new content/mechanics/changes that would you love to see in Endless space 2 or maybe the 3 in future. I personally liked the building's in Galactic Civ 4, though i dont like whole game, i think the idea of generating a tile based planet on which you build improvments is much more fun than what it is, you can compare it to the districts from Humankind. Also with that i would love making ground battles happen on that tiles, making the fight more real and opening a lot of possibilities in this realm of warfare making it actually a part of gameplay more than what it's now.
And finally the addition of more weapon types and ship types, i know a lot of people never liked ES2 combat but i find it very fun, the only thing it lacks is more options to choose from. I could yap about possible weapons etc but there is no need i think lol.
Now whats your ideas? Tell us even the unreasonable ones.
I am nearing the end of a game. (Custom Vaulters), and my system dust production has flipped and it does not un-flip. It now is producing negative income, which only rises if I produce more dust. Also, Dust Inflation now gives me income?
I have reloaded to previous turns to try to fix this. I have tried hoarding wealth to just eat the cost for a few turns to see if the market settles. I have tried making my empire produce just enough to break even and also tried tanking my dust production to see if it corrects. I have tried selling all my fleets. I have tried combinations of scenarios like this.
I am not qualified to fix this. Please help. Thank you.
After playing a lot of Cravers. I wanted to get into Riftborn. But my Problem is. I dont know what im doing or how to properly play them. Internet has no guides that dont date back 7 years ago. So I once again ask for your Support.
Thanks in advance for every tipp.
