I was going to back to work after lunch and was on the highway. My full attention wasn’t dead ahead and I saw this piece of tile or something, fly out from under the truck behind me and hit the front end of my car before I could even react. Got stuck in the front end and had to pull it out when I parked at work. Damaged the plastic and all.
Fourth time this year and after I parked I checked the hood and the small cap on battery was off. Closed it and check engine light came on, so took gas cap off and put back on and all is well. Took to dealership and changed battery but this issue still happens. Stopped during traffic too and couldn't move unless I turned the car off and on again. Thoughts?
2018 SE 2.0 Nu here. To those that put in NGK spark plugs 90909, how are they over stock Yuras? Better in drivability? Thanks. I currently have Yuras I installed a year ago and Delphi coils. I always keep hearing great things about them.
The shifter on my 2011 hyundai elantra limited 1.8 goes from P to D just fine but wont go into manual mode. If i push it it make a weird click noise and still doesnt let me up or down shift. Any ideas why this might be happening before i take it in to a shop?
Manual shifting is useful because i live where there is a lot of snow so it gives me more control.

So for the past two days, I’ve driven 4 trips of 80k/50mi each way in between -14C and -19C. For some reason, my heat gauge fluctuated between 0 and 1/4 the entire trip. The car interior never actually blew hot air, even though I had the heater setting on high. Anyone know what could be causing it?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice. This is my first car—a Hyundai Elantra Hybrid—which has just passed 30,000 miles. I don’t know much about cars or servicing, but so far, I’ve been getting the oil changed and the tires rotated every 5,000 miles.
This time, though, the service center recommended a bunch of additional services that add up to a massive $860! According to the owner’s manual, the only recommended maintenance at this point is replacing the air cleaner filter, fuel tank air filter, and cabin air filter.
Are all these additional services necessary, or can I stick with just what the manual says? I’d appreciate any advice to help me keep the car in good shape without overspending.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello!
2021 Elantra SEL w/ 70k miles. Recently started hearing a metallic clicking noise on start ups, especially cold starts. Sounds like it is originating from the right side of the engine (if facing the engine bay). I've mainly read it could be a VVT solenoid, but looking to see if anyone else has experienced this?
What can I change in the car to make the ride smoother. Thank you, elantra 2024
Can’t even warm up my car within 10 minutes, that’s not long enough for anything. Really don’t understand why it’s not 15 minutes for the remote start to fully warm up the car, by the time I get out there it’s either already turned off or not even hot enough. Not worth even using. Very frustrating. Is it possible to extend this maybe aftermarket? 2023 Elantra.
Yet, I see replacement cylinders with keys on Amazon for about $20. And the YouTube videos showing how to remove damaged & replace look super easy, even for a dingbat like me.
Is the locksmith insane, or just hates this kind of work?
Recently, my 23 Elantra (24,945 miles) gets a lot of vibrations between 15 mph to idle. It’s most noticeable coming to and going from a stop. Started out last week as a loud bass noise, like from a stereo. Now it’s progressed into vibrations in the dash and center console. Has anyone had this as well or even checked out? Gonna bring it in next week after thanksgiving but curious what to expect.
Hi, I've posted already about disabling Sirius Sattelite radio: Elantra.https://www.reddit.com/r/Elantra/comments/121ocjz/turn\_off\_sirius\_satellite\_radio/
It seems there is no way to do it with the radio controls or programming. Has anyone ever tried to do so by dismantling and removing the physical satellite radio from the dash board?
It is just so obnoxious being forced to listen to the Sirius Radio ads. The audio always defaults to Sirius after any time I use Bluetooth or Android auto, and it's infuriating! Peace.
I have a 23 Elantra that I got new last year in June. I had a 5,000-mile engine oil light come on in May of this year (10 months after getting it from the dealer), which I got done as well as with a basic maintenance check. I had an 8,000-mile service alert come on recently. I was told by one of the dealership employees that I shouldn't have gotten my oil so early and to just reset the oil life settings to turn off the alert on the dash. Is it the right call to reset the oil life even though I've done 3,000 miles on this oil, and how long should I wait to do another service on the car after last having one at 5k miles
A buddy of mine just had starlights put in his liner and it looks amazing I’m just curious if that is something other people will think is dumb?
I replaced my front shocks like 6months ago, but now the right side seems harder than the left. It feels stiff and would make a sound on bumps.
What can be done?
Does anyone know where can I get the best price for the OEM pads?
I need some advice. I went for a 24k-mile service today with my 2022 Elantra. I have a prepaid maintenance package that includes free routine maintenance. Upon arriving at the Rick Case dealership for the service, they handed me a paper with a “Premium Service” option and an additional induction cleaning for over $400.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of the list, but anyway, I told them I wasn’t paying for any extra services since I needed to check with the vehicle’s owner first (the car is not registered under my name). They removed all the additional charges without any issues. However, they subtly hinted that if something goes wrong in the future, the manufacturer might void the warranty because I declined the services.
This is my first experience with dealership maintenance in the US, so I wanted to ask what you guys think. Is this something to worry about? Would declining those extra services really affect the warranty?
(Pic is for attention 🤓)
2022 Elantra HEV. For about 2 months, my headlights have been toggling through the different settings randomly while driving. I've seen them turn themselves on while the car was off, key out, & locked. I just clocked out & found out my car had no power when I tried to unlock it. It took 40 mins to get in, reset the 12v, & get the car to recognize the key. Anbody experience smth similar?
I have a 2021 SEL and the backup camera went out about a year ago- I was just notified Hyundai issued a recall. Great news for me as I was figuring out a way to take my car to get it fixed without voiding my warranty (I installed aftermarket speakers/amp.) There have been a TON of people reporting faulty cameras.
I've been looking at Elantras, but I am pretty particular about safety ratings and have been looking at IIHS. Every trim except for Limited has a headlight rating of poor. I've also noticed this in Honda Civics. Is this a practical issue? It looks like the majority of the headlights are halogen while the Limited or Touring headlights are LED. Is that something that could be easily changed in a lower trim? Thanks!
Hi everyone, I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, and my front headlights (I think they're called projector headlights) seem to be pointing downward. I’ve been trying to find the adjustment screws to align them properly, but I’m having trouble locating them.
I’ve already looked near the back of the headlights and around the assembly but can’t seem to figure out where the adjustment points are or how to move them.
Does anyone have experience with this or know where I should look? Any advice or pictures would be super helpful! Thanks!
2018 Elantra, only have 64K miles on it. Did anyone have an issue and resolve this issue. Climate control with knobs has no power at all. Replaced blower resistor, no difference. 1-2 there’s barely any air coming out but I think it’s on floor mode. 3-4 it’s more noticeable but hot. I’m confused cause I had blower fan, resistors and blend door go bad on different vehicles. But never has the climate control just not turn on. No buttons lights. Any help would be much appreciated.
If my radio in my 2017 elantra works, but the screen is frozen with nothing else working on it, does that mean the head unit is fine?
