I've watched countless videos but I still feel like i'm super unprepared.
I did get on the road earlier with 2 licensed drivers but got off immediately after I almost crashed into a house.
I believe I have the most trouble controlling the pressure I put on the pedals, especially the accelerator.
I want to learn but this experience has only made me more nervous and scared.
I am planning on learning with an instructor soon, and I don't want to get yelled at.
What are some tips/anything I should know?
I was traveling the speed limit and enjoying my drive, then a truck turned in front of me without looking. I honked and angrily sped past him on the shoulder to get back in front of him. I then slowed back down to the speed limit and he started tailgating, I stopped to confront him and he claimed it was a school zone, IT IS a school zone, But this was at 11:30 am, school zones are only when school starts and gets out. So am I wrong for simply avoiding rear ending someone? He also claimed I was speeding before hand which I wasn't. He said he's taking the dash cam footage to the sheriff but I'm not very worried.
I'm in Eastern Canada, and the Driver's Ed here is 25 hours in-class/10 hours in-vehicle lessons + 1 road test prep. It's around $950. I'm an adult and never drove before. I have an option of paying $350 more for 15 hours of in-vehicle lessons + road test prep + 1 free private lesson. However, I'm also tight on money. Do you think it's worth going with more hours, or I can manage to learn with 10 hours, + some practice in my mom's CRV?
I live in Florida (USA) and the law on using high beams here is that you must change your lights within 500 feet of an oncoming car to not glare in their eyes. Does this mean that I can “warn” someone of a cop by flashing them with high beams if I am more than 500 feet away from them? Or is there other laws that I am unaware of? I am asking because I was driving with my mom and I did that and she said it was illegal
When you tailgate, you bottleneck yourself. Your following distance is so small your only option is to slam on the brakes when the car in front of you slows down. When you leave space, you can actually pass slow cars, because you can use the space to accelerate and pass the slowpokes.
Just a quick rant
My kid and I had just pulled into a parking lot and I made sure to park well within the lines. Another car comes up and parked angled over the line, and some teens got out...
I hear them very loudly laugh "God you're so awful at parking, I can barely get out!" And go into the store... They were on the side I had to get my kid out of (and get out of the car myself) and all I can think is...
Would be a shame if my kid pushed the door open and it knocked your car. I hope their parents teach them to drive better. (I would never purposely damage someone else's car in frustration however.) But I do hope they get a lesson some day in parking properly.
So parents, I know it's tough to get any age of kid to listen, but please try to teach your child that it doesn't pay to park like an ass. Take the time to repark if you're not well within the lines.
Hey so I’m currently 16yr old and this is where I am. I have received my permit on November 19th. Since then I’ve been completing my modules for the 32 hour thing. I have scheduled driving test for May 14th. And buy then I will have finished my 32 hour modules. So this is my question. Since I am taking my test 5 days before I can technically get a license, will they just ship it out earlier anyways since it’ll take at least a week to arrive or will they not ship it out or just ship it out later? What could happen here?
Help!
a little backstory is that I have anxiety and adhd so it’s hard for me to focus, I’m 17 and trying to get my license but I’ve failed 5 times already cause I litterly can not focus on the test whenever I take it, I live In California, is there any accommodations I can have? Like taking it home or somthing? (I’m grounded cause I can’t pass my test and need to past it )
So I have my driving test soon and I was wondering smth. When it says 25 mph when children are present and I see no children, my first question is do I go 40 mph or stay 25 just in case? Secondly would they dock me points or even instant fail me if I go 25 mph with no children when I should be going 40 mph because I am going 5 under 40 mph?
I'm in California, USA. A driver rear ended me while entering a highway, and said he was distracted and could not apply the brakes on time. He shared his insurance but I noticed that it has expired, when I asked him about it, he said he will share the latest info once he reaches home, however I doubt he has a valid insurance.
I'm planning to file a claim with my insurance. However, this is the first time I'm in this situation, so wanted to get advice here in case there are any particular things I should keep in mind before filing an insurance claim. My car is Tesla Model 3 and I have Tesla insurance. Sorry for the basic questions, and appreciate any advice on the following:
I got my license early January, however I have only driven a few times. Last time I even tried was over a month ago. When I passed, I was informed I should be driving with someone else until I feel comfortable to drive alone, but my parents always insist I drive out ALONE. I keep focusing on how many mistakes and then I make more mistakes when I get nervous, and it's been making me anxious to go out driving again, any advice how to combat this anxiety?
A police report was made but no tickets were issued to either of us, nothing was claimed through insurance either. I have a decent paying job that’s interviewing me to be a driver but I’m worried he’ll see I have an accident and he states I NEED a clean record. Please help
If you are driving down a two-way single lane road and there is another car also on the road, what are you supposed to do/who has the right of way?
Context: I live in Seattle Washington. Often there are streets like this in residential neighborhoods and are often flat/not inclined, where many cars are parked on the curb, so you can't easily just pull off to the side.
Often if there are two cars on the same road, one will have to yield, but will have to back up and will have to find an area that doesn't have a car parked on the road to pull to the side.
However, if there are two cars coming toward each other, who has the right of way and should yield/back up and pull over to the side to let the other pass?
after a long night out how to I get home? cant buy a taxi. recently I discovered some huge crash marks on my car from whatever i was doing the other day I don't remember anymore it was a wild night but it looks like I hit something really hard
I’m quite a new driver, got my license a year ago but just got my first car. I was involved in a collision today and I would like to know what more experienced drivers think of it. So I was driving straight in my lane, and a guy was parked to my right, but he was a bit into the road. I don’t know how it all happened, but I just heard a sound, and be blew off my mirror. Turns out he opened his passenger door and hit it. I would like some advice, who was at fault, and what can I do to prevent such a situation. I was able to park and he called his insurance and we got everything sorted but I would like some input into this.
So I’m not sure if it’s just a lack of planning or something but I wanted to know if I would be able to drive myself to work as I recently turned 17 and I kinda realized that if I want a job this summer I’m gonna to drive myself but I don’t have any type of permit or license and if I’m right if I were to get it at this very second I would have to wait a year until I get to the license that lets me drive myself to work so basically Am I done? Is It Over?
Was driving home today and passed through several lengthy construction zones. You know the kind with no shoulder on either side and concrete barriers blocking you in.
It occurred to me that you could break down or have a flat in this zone and I’m really curious what you should do / what would happen.
I have heard that they are monitored by video and could dispatch a wrecker but this isn’t easing my mind very much.
So what could you do in this scenario to minimize the danger?
Yesterday I was doing my last delivery somewhere around 11 PM. I was going 52 on 35. Street was almost empty, only like 5 cars behind me. Suddenly one of those cars speed up and started to drive next to me. At first I didn't even pay attention to it, and only after 30 seconds I've noticed that's a cop car 😆. I pretend that I haven't seen him, but took my foot off the gas pedal so my vehicle could slow down. After 10 more seconds he just passed me and vanished into the night 😅. So I was clearly speeding, I couldn't claim I was following the flow, I clearly got his attention but still he didn't pull me over. Any thoughts why I got so lucky?
That happened in Maryland if state matters
I’m someone who already has their license but hasn’t driven in a few years and is trying to get back into it. I have a lot of driving anxiety from a previous accident and want to get more confident with making decisions quickly on the road.
Are there any good YouTube channels or videos that show someone driving and responding to various situations as they go? Like watching someone drive in real time—that way I can consider what I would do in the situation as I watch it unfold, kind of like a simulation.
Not sure if this makes sense, but I would really appreciate any suggestions!
(Also, please recommend videos/channels from the US or where they drive on the right side of the road. I keep seeing British ones, but I don’t want to get confused by watching them drive on the opposite side lol)
I've just passed my driving test and, because my address changed recently, I now have to apply via post for my full driving licence - so I'm more driving with my provisional + pass certificate.
I want to apply for an international driving permit as I'm going travelling.
Question: Had anyone recent applied for one using the original licence and pass certificate?
Since 1 April, these are no longer possible to get from post office and selected PayPoints are the only places to get them from
Thanks
I'm turning left at a light. See the way is clear, start turning and realize someone pulled out of a parralel spot on the other side of the street and started entering the intersection to go straight the other way. I stop in the middle of the intersection in order to not hit them. I think they thought oh the light is green I can just go right out of the parallel spot throught the light.
Another time i was in the left lane behind a line of cars turning left. I was going straight so I decided to signal right and check behind me. No one was there. So I start pulling into the right lane and someone from a parralel spot to my right started pulling out into the same lane. Braked to avoid collision.
I feel like I had the right of way in these situations but at the same time blame myself for not being more aware. I need to check my surrondings better. Who's at fault and how can one avoid these situations (I think just being more aware). It is kinda similar to if two people change lanes at the exact same time, it is sorta both peoples fault. Let me know what you think. This was definitely a big wake up call to be uber aware at the wheel.
Apparently the truck signals left to indicate that there is not safe passage and right for safe passage. I will have to pay attention to this next time we are on a two-lane highway.

I have written everything needed to be known to pass the test which can be found on amazon - Complete guide to passing the UK practical driving test by Henry Norsworthy.
Main takeaway
In the test the point isn’t to get to somewhere so no need to hurry. The examiner is most importantly looking for; highway code understanding, car control, and safety so double checking and not willing to take risks or chances which could endanger other people.
The examiner is taking you on a route that they are very familiar with and knows every driving scenario which in a test sense can be referred to as obstacles that are coming up and is specifically watching how you handle each obstacle. When approaching an obstacle, overtly demonstrate the steps which avoids confusion with the examiner not being sure if you did understand the obstacle so they can mark the obstacle as understood, you can even talk out loud if it helps and will literally tell the examiner that you understand the steps.
Tips from my first test (I passed on my second attempt)
I failed my first attempt due to a serious because the instruction was to go straight at the next roundabout so I approached in the left lane but then at the roundabout there was a left turn only mark on the road, there was no one around but I didn’t have enough time to change into the right lane and while I was already in the go left lane the examiner repeated the instruction of go straight so I went straight - I should have went left then got told to come back. The roundabout can be seen at the five-minute mark of Driving Crawley’s Real Driving Test Crawley Rush hour & raining! CRAZY drivers in a rush?? video.
Hi, I'm a 24 year old shut in who has a learner's permit. I got it in 2017 so it's been a long time. I basically remember nothing as I just bs'd my way through the test at the DMV. I recently had my life change forever and I need to get my license as soon as possible. What should I do to start learning how to drive? Also, how can I learn to deal with anxiety and just general fear of being in a car? Any advice is appreciated, thankyou.
Hey, I am learning to drive and I had a question about when you are on the right lane of the parking lot and you want to park into a spot on the right. Are you supposed top go into the left line and then park and is there another method because a friend of mine failed when attempting to directly park since he cut into another cars parking space.
i have literally lived in the exact same area my whole 17 years of life but only know like, what, 8 street names off the top of my head. that’s not good when i start driving myself and idk where a certain one is. how do i memorize such things?!
I took my road test and everything was fine until I did a k-turn and I drove into the driveway a little and it was an auto fail. I have another road test next week and I’m scared I’m gonna keep hitting curbs and never pass. PS: before my road test I’ve never hit a curb before.
