Did a quick search but nothing conclusive. Will recipes like Soldier's Stew (veggie + meat + pure water) be cooked by NPCs? I've seen some comments saying that the well placed in a Castle Cafeteria will provide water, but I've never seen it happen, nor have I seen NPCs cook those recipes.
I don't mind having to drop a bunch of things NPCs can't harvest from crops into the kitchen's chests to ensure that NPCs will cook stuff (e.g. oil, meat, milk), but you can't put water into chests.
Also strange, I have some elders and children but they don't seem to be fishing (no fish in the chests). Which is odd, in my previous playthrough they definitely fished because I kept getting annoyed at all the fish they were putting into the kitchen chests despite I hadn't even built a fishing pool, though I had some rows of my fields deliberately dug 1 block down and filled with water, so they apparently fished from there. Same design now, but no fish this time.
I just started playing DQB on my Steam Deck OLED and have found that there's no audio when resuming from suspend. I have to close the game and restart each time to restore the audio. I haven't had this issue with any other game, including DQB2. Are there any other Steam Deck users out there that have any information about or possible solutions to this problem? TIA
i completed the game for the first time today and and the end the situation was something like that
Trying to level a big portion of Cantlin and just finished the first step.
Found this while flatting my base, and I don't ever remember placing that.
One my third playthrough now, and I'm just wondering if there's anything I forgot to grab before I leave.
I went to the Red portal, and found the chef early, later Pippa gave me the quest to make a hamburger, then I found wheat and did unlock the recipe for bread, how else can I unlock it?
Is it alright to delete buildertopia beta? Like will I miss some things if I delete it and replace it with another island, I'm scared of missing out on more post game content.
Just beat the game and am working on getting everyone on my island (isle of awakening) a house, do you guys know how to keep track of who has a house built and who doesn’t? When you build a room and assign it to a person for the first time something goes on the screen for a second that says “x’s room complete” and seems like you’re checking a box for something. But there is no where to reference whose house is already built, making it easy to forget people or build a person two houses/rooms. Couldn’t find anything close to an answer on google, can anyone help me?!
Figured I would share this quick flyover here for visibility. I swear I will stop shilling my island on reddit now.
I'm so confused and googling just showed stuff like making a tree of bark and leaves can spawn acorns or dupe glitches and etc so I figured I'd come here to ask if anyone's seen this before or can explain it to me. Like.
Help, why do I have 18k RED ladders on my item bar, in one inventory spot lol

Information to field questions, if helpful:
I'm on ps5 playing ps4 version, post game on Isle of Awakening at Green Gardens. I do drive by cooking while I work on stuff and made Superior Spaghetti the previous in-game day. I have been filling gaps in the mountain for days. Right before I noticed the ladders, I made three batches of Fish and Chips. The ladders are in one stack somehow, and already dyed red (which were new to me as an item). They were on the skillet my slime tends to deposit oil on, and I've cooked hundreds of items on it. I closed the game and reopened it to still have the ladders in one stack.
And now I'm here.
Edit 1: I agree with it probably being the slime Melting the same time the food finishes. I do find it interesting the food item does not seem to matter as someone else had it happen in Malhalla on a bonfire for a similar amount of red ladders. I will update if/when I feel like and get the time to do some testing.
I just beat the 3rd battle in chapter 2 and it says in can't use the teleportals. I have two. I wanted to get more coal but it won't let me.
Help?
I couldn't post this as a comment so making it a post instead. ;)
Long story short, I beat the game, built the framework of a mansion in the big open area between Scarlet Sands and Green Gardens.
Working on the mansion, lots of the villagers, such as Saffron, a chicken, and Clayton continue to come into the mansion and not leave until i throw them to another area and bring them back later. Is there any way to get these annoying villagers and animals to stop coming to my mansion?
Edit: I forgot to mention that once they enter this area, they NEVER leave unless I boot them out using the residents' register. It's almost like they're getting stuck on the terrain and can't get around it.
First off thanks to everyone for all your advice and tips on my last post, I’m in endgame now and am having so much more fun building this time around because of your tips (using a chimera is a game changer lol)
I was wondering how people are using the angled windows, specifically what you put on top of them when you’re building/how you work them into your designs.
I love the look of bay windows and have been trying to incorporate that style into some houses but they never look right. It seems the only options are to not cover the front paneled section (awkward) or putting bricks on top of the front panel of the window and losing the shape.
Any suggestions?
P.S. I would also love any additional ideas/designs for how to incorporate them into buildings (I just entered my “buildings don’t have to be a square with the same brick for the entire exterior” era lol)
For me I tend to google search the type of building I want to build and find RL architecture or as much as I hate it - Minecraft builds and sort of piece together whatever build I'm going for from that... But one game I find that really really makes me want to just build is Genshin Impact. That game is gorgeous and has so many unique places. Will show you some places I really like in the game, but it got me curious about what inspires everyone else to build!
Underground Ruins in The Chasm
Sealed Ruined Tower - Fontaine
So when you're fighting the Dragonlord in Chapter 4, there are two steel doors locked by an ultimate key. Is there anything at all behind those door? I gotta know since, to my knowledge, you can only ever craft the ultimate key once.
Alright, I made a dressing room in the Cerulean Steppe, but I want all my villagers back to their normal clothing (Zara, Anessa, Gerome, and a Random soldier), but I don't know how to change them back. Anybody got any ideas?
Can you punch the caretaker in skelkatraz to death? Yes. Should you? No, it's pointless.
Background: the two Builders games were actually the entire reason I bought a Nintendo Switch, over five years ago, and are two of my favorite modern games.
Recently I got into streaming and thought of showing these games off, but I don't have a capture device... so I re-purchased the games on Steam when they went on sale.
I was surprised that DQB1 got a Steam port at all.... but I'm also surprised its not exactly like the Switch version.
Right away there's multiple little differences. One I ran into right in the tutorial is on the Switch you can skip some parts of the tutorial and go right for the exit, but on Steam, you can't. Also that little cave near Cantlin where you find a Life Seed is now just a straight hallway, no bends or curves.
But that's minor stuff. Part of me is... feeling weird playing this version.
I dunno if this is nostalgia talking, adaptation issues, Dragonlord's mental influence, the shapings of the Protoculture, or me being a silly gooman, but.... after getting a ways into the Steam version, I started a new game on Switch and was immediately having a better time.
It's minor, but I'm not certain about some of the changes. My brain is thinking a lot of them will have "knock on implications" as I call them.
Like for example: would I rather have faster movement speed or higher defense? This is a question on the Switch. On Steam though, there's a run button (and it doesn't even have Stamina limits, unlike DQB2), so there seems to be no reason to ever prefer the Wayfarer's Cloths over the Leather Armor.
I'm gonna keep playing it, but right off the bat I have misgivings.
Am I the only one?
And I just love it so much I had to share with everyone!
The artist is https://www.instagram.com/stariitoons/ and still has commissions open if anyone was interested!
I've been wanting a new pic for all my socials and streaming and stuff and it just turned out SO PERFECTLY!!
A lot of screen tearing and monitor flashing. I feel like this is a refresh rate or vsync issue but both are in order.
I've played Builders 2 around two-and-a-half times now (My first two play throughs were in 2020 and 2021, replaying it now) and i can't seem to remember what the silvery sludge is used for. Can somebody remind me?
Ive recently been replaying DQB1. I beat the game twice, but never looked back after I began DQB2.
So now that I am replaying DQB1.. while overall I prefer DQB2, especially the building mechanics and the camera... there are a few things I like about DQB1 more
in my opinion
- Talaria shoes. Unfortunately you only get it in chapter 1, but it was nice to have double jump without relying on a monster or animal
- the NPCs. I think the people of DQB1 are a generally more likable than the ones in DQB2. Especially the masked muscle men. They are hilarious in DQB1. Although there are many likable NPCs in DQB2.. there are certainly a lot more characters that ive found annoying.
how about you?
With all this attention on DQB1 again, I decided to replay it again for a third time. I think its been like 5 years since I last played it, so there are a number of things I've forgotten.
One thing I hated about DQB1 was the ghosts. They are much more aggressive than the ones in DQB2 and multiple can spawn at the same time. Even if my base is fully covered, they simply just teleport through the walls.
Unlike DQB2, these ghosts aren't afraid of light.
has anyone found a way to keep the ghosts out?
I’m in the middle of my fourth play through (love this game!) and trying to focus on building beyond two story walls this time. Any advice for my current struggles:
connecting bricks* rules seem so inconsistent, the base version doesnt always show up when i put it down/is there a better way than having to put a block on top and then break it?
whats the best way to get up high to build?
roofs!
general build tips (for example I was on my second play though when i discovered you could rotate the item you’re holding with the glove…)
Also if you have any IoA builds using the pyramid in SS or a train around your island, I’d love to see pics or check out in game :)
*Note: I’m aware of the sifter but I’m currently in Moonbrooke about to start my least favorite part of the storyline so working on fixing up the castle to put it off lol
Thanks all!
