How big of a pain is it? Looking to buy one and found a super clean one but its auto. Thanks!
My brother recently bought an ‘85 Cressida with a functioning trunk release and lid, at least when we looked at it. Drove it home, opened the trunk again, got some stuff out, then haven’t been able to reopen it. Does anyone know of anything that might have moved or gotten caught or locked or anything? The trunk was empty except for a single storage crate thing and the spare tire tools. A forum mentioned a valet mode that I think disables the trunk somehow?
Where the heck do the front abs sensors (wheel speed sensors) connect to. I know there’s a separate harness that bridges the front sensors to the engine harness but I’m not sure what they look like nor can I find the actual part online. Can anyone help?
most cressidas although being toyotas have over 200***km on them, are they still reliable after this mark? or what are some other cars around the 10-15k range that are still fun
I have a 1990 Cressida. I've seen the MX# things on other posts but don't know what that means. Any tips tricks on where to find parts and possible smart upgrades?
I was told my transmission speed sensor needs replaced but I cannot find the part anywhere. (If I'm going 45mph, the speedometer reads about 38-40mph)
Last thing, I've heard the I6 motor is related to the 2JZ, is that true?
Thanks all!
Does anyone else with a GX70 have a hard time finding information about it? Even basic stuff like what spark plugs that should be used?
I live in Japan right now and have a GX70 and even when I go to a hardware/automotive store and search through their books that have what seems to be every part for every car imaginable, there is never the GX70. Even online I swear I have a hard time.
Or am I just stupid?
I've had an 89 cressida with a 7mge for a while now but recently it just stalled out and died.
It doesn't even click when the key is turned like the starter is engaging. Power comes on. Battery is new and alternator is good.
I was planning on taking the starter and testing it but I'm having trouble finding it. Was hoping for some help or ideas on the whole problem.
Here’s a little cinematic video of my friends mx73 cressida

Just wanted to know what fits well as well as if anyone knows the widest rims will fit?
Working on this car that sat for a long long time. Finished an engine rebuild and put around 500 miles on it locally going for about 2 hr drives max. Changed the oil and went to leave the state.. about 4 hours in it was losing top speed, and kept getting worse. Once it got it home I found the transmission fluid was COOKED. Black as hell, and I had just done filter/ fluid when I did the engine rebuild. Dropped the pan again, no debris or excess clutch sludge. So I flushed 3 gal of new fluid in and added an extra front mount transmission cooler and temp gauge on the outlet line. So far I’ve seen temps max around 180 on longer freeway drives.
So, given all that, I’m left wondering, is this car supposed to have a torque converter clutch? I can count all 4 gears, but no “5th gear” lockup shift once you hit cruising speeds. I haven’t dug into the wiring to check yet, but I figured I’d start here. Google has been almost useless trying to verify yes or no.. conflicting reports. If it has a TCC and it’s not locking up, no wonder we overheated the trans fluid. If it doesn’t have a stock TCC.. then it’s for some other reason and I’ll have to look elsewhere.
