With Arcane's recent finale, I decided to upload my Chompers design for all to use. Designed with cosplayers in mind for ease of painting individual parts pre-assembly.
Fully designed by me and buildable with just press-fits. Honestly so much fun just to put together, feels like when you were younger and putting that Lego set together again.
All print-optimized including pre-built supports for some tricky parts. Super proud of how these came out :)

Been planning on making shadow boots for the upcoming movie. Got the paint, some boots but any ideas how I’d replicate this? 3D printing is what’s coming to mind. Guidance is appreciated.
I am looking to build a recreate this sarcophagus "dress" designed by Gareth Pugh. I made a version of it this past year out of Insulation Foam but it was a bit of a nightmare to work with. Looking for help or suggestions in executing this. My new initial idea is to use 1x1 or 1x2 lumber to build the frame of it and then use boards or foam sheets to cover the frame. I also need to make it separate sections (the waist up and then from the waist down so it would have several small sections that go together to create this as it will need to travel in a small trailer.)
I appreciate any and all suggestions and help!
* Others have suggested Eva Foam but what thickness and would I need a frame support or could Eva stand up on its on like this?
This isn’t cosplay specific, but I figured if anyone could help me, it’s the cosplay community lol.
My son wants me to make him a sword. No big deal. The twist is that he wants an outer blade “shell” that he can make fall off at will, and then there would be an inner sword. A few key points/concepts to help you all come up with a solution:
the shell is in multiple pieces/fragments. I originally thought small magnets to get the shell to hold together, but they can’t be released on command.
he wants it to break apart starting at the top and end at the hilt, think like peeling a banana, with all the pieces connected together with some sort of string or high tension fishing line. I told him string would be out because of the friction generated may cause it to break, and he wants to be able to do it over and over again.
he wants the inner blade to light up. I’m not worried about that, I can handle that pretty easily.
I’m pretty handy and have all the tools I figure I need, but I cannot for the life of me come up with a concept on how to get this to work. I’m sure like any good engineer he’ll have to accept some compromises. But if anyone has any idea as to where to start, I would appreciate it.
Hi all. I need to source an acrylic dome for a space suit style helmet. Any ideas inside EU?
Hi, so I'm going to a con tomorrow and making a mask for my cosplay right now (I'm going as Masky from Marble Hornets). I changed the eye shape if the mask with some air dry foam clay but realized I really need it to be dry before tomorrow so that I can sand it, paint it and but a clear coat on it.
Now I've heard that you can speed up the drying process by putting it in the oven at a low temp. Is that true? And would that work even if the mask base is made of really thick paper? (It's 6:28pm at the time of me posting this so I'd really appreciate some help as soon as possible o-o")
Hi, I've gotten a 3d print of HSR Welt's cane to be put together, but I've never painted a 3d print or prop before! Could anyone give me an essentials rundown on how to do so?
Does anyone have experience making large props and feel one material might be better over the other for a convention? (safety, malfunctions, accuracy, cost)
I'm planning on being Cloud from FF7 for C2E2 in the spring and am having trouble deciding if I want to make his buster sword out of EVA foam or 3d printed material. I actually already 3d Printed the sword once but quickly realized it would be better printed with different settings to make it lighter. But it made me start thinking EVA would just be lighter to begin with I'm just worried about accurately recreating the details the same way 3d printing easily does it.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful on one material of the other. Thanks!
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I'm urgently searching for a Christmas gift before December 25th to be created; the Vorpal Blade from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. If there's a better place I could post, please point me there. I've found a few props online, but none are painted nor metal. I'm looking for either a painted prop or something with a more accurate material. Please, I'd love some help here! And I am willing to pay hundreds for this. Thank you in advance
I was thinking of cosplaying Doc Octopus and can't find any info on this or any similar googles! Can anyone help me with this?
It has a powerbank function and a power port on the bottom to power the armor thats my next project 😊
If u know any good trunks cosplays to buy let me know Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi everyone! My partner recently made a Silent Hill nurse mask as her first attempt at prop-making. It turned out really well (in my totally unbiased opinion), and she’s considering getting into prop-making maybe as a job.
We wanted to share it with the cosplay community here for a bit of feedback: • How does it look for a first-time prop? • What would something like this typically sell for? We’re curious about how much people might pay for a Silent Hill nurse mask, especially since she’s just starting out. She paper mached it all together and made everything. She’d love to know if this is a promising direction for her and any tips from the experienced prop makers here!
Thanks so much for taking a look—we appreciate your time and advice!
Did my first attempt at doing shield, it’s not perfect but I assume it’s okay for first cosplay :p what do you think?
Starting point of a holdout blaster. I figure a little dremeling, some paint, lots of sanding and a bit of JB Weld should do. Any tips on weathering and mods?
or should i wait and save up for a dremel? Or just use sandpaper?
so i want to cosplay starkiller from the force unleashed and i want to DIY a lightsaber, i know most people would say use led strips but i have no knowledge of wires and i was thinking of just getting a flashlight with huge lumen and put a red tint over the light then cover it with a long transparent pipe, course the problem is that it's transparent and mostlikely not going to look right.
question is how do i make it not so transparent? maybe i put a thin paper sheet under it? sand it down?
So I’m planning a Luka cosplay with my friend being Miku and I’m new to cosplay. I need advice on a transparent plastic type material so I can make the wings and also material ideas to make the headphones/ mic or good places I could purchase the headset. I’m thinking of EVA foam for the ear pieces and gluing them onto a headband. Just any advice to help me make the headpiece.
as we know, dremmeling creates a lot of fine foam dust that gets messy. Unfortunately I live in an apartment with other people so I can't have a whole set up or something. I also don't want fine dust to affect others as it may cause respiratory problems. So what tips do you have to dremmel tidily or do you just dremmel and vacuum the dust after? Does it really cause a big mess and fly everywhere or does it just fall to the ground in a small area? Should I just dremmel outside? Thank you
I already made the teeth out of aluminum and have some screws to put on the bottom. I just can’t figure out how to make that bottom part the screws go into.
