Describe the Cloverfield Monster in one word

What would be one word you would describe the monster that attacked New York from the first film?

Am I the only one who thinks the Sequels didn't ruin the "story?"

I understand that a lot of people rather have direct sequels. And I totally get it. But then they act like the story or the way the franchise connects is SUPER CONVOLUTED. When its really not at all? I won't deny that at the time paradox came out. I have never seen this whole multiple-universe thing done before. And I did not get it at first. But then after coming back a few years later. It was super simple? Each movie is its own universe, aka its own thing. Paradox shows how the monsters became a reality in all the Cloverfield universes. And that's kinda it. I mean people act like paradox was the one to ruin everything. But if anything I felt like it fixed everything. Well more like it CHOSE an explanation as to why the second movie doesn't fit the first movie. And yes it probably chose the most convoluted one. Before paradox, I could understand the confusion. "Hey this movie has nothing to do with the first film." But then, again, the second movie basically acts as its own thing. It did NOT add any lore to the universe but it definitely felt as if it didn't need to. Like lets act like Cloverfield lane was actually a direct sequel to the first film. It STILL would have felt like a good cloverfield movie despite not adding any lore. Kinda like a side story yk? Like what was going on in another part of the world during the clover monster attack. What I'm trying to say is that people say this movie ruined the franchise, when it didn't even touch any of its lore. For all you knew at the time. It was a sequel just without the first movies monster. I know that a lot of people like to say that it wasn't going to be a cloverfield movie at first that's why the story doesn't fit the universe. And you would be right. But I don't think it messed with the lore in anyway. All paradox did was say, "This movies are separate universe. And this is how the monsters got here." So in a way I can kinda see it as being useless? Why separate the cloverfield universe? There was only 2 movies at the time and they didn't necessarily had to be separate universes. Could have just said it took place in another part of the world. And I guess explaining that the monsters came from another dimensions ruins the mystery? Idk. I felt paradox gave an explanation. And it did it good. Was it necessary to know all of this? Definetly not. But we got it and I think it makes sense. Always hear people on videos say the story is a mess. Like no? Everyone died in the first film, Girl escaped the bunker in the second. And yea paradox is a bit more complex but still understandable. If you wanna say the lore is crazy sure. A lot of arg type lore.

Some rumors about a possible "Cloverfield film" coming to netflix

    https://www.gamesradar.com/entertainment/sci-fi-movies/netflix-just-acquired-the-rights-to-a-new-high-concept-sci-fi-thriller-which-may-or-may-not-be-a-cloverfield-movie/

It essentially states that based on the description of the film it could fit into the cloververse. Reaching believe me i know but look were so starved for cloverfield content these days anything with cloverfield in the headline is worth reading lol.

The director is the dude that did Rings of Power tho which is arguably one of the worst shows ive ever seen despite being the most expensive. So im looking at this with some side eye to say the least.

    Anyone Have This Head?

Hello! My brother and I have loved the original CLOVERFIELD movie since we were kids, and he has one of those big CLOVERFIELD figures!

Long ago a cousin of ours broke the bottom two big teeth off his figures roaring head, it unfortunately has scuffs on the eyes, too. I was wondering if anyone had a spare sitting around they’d be willing to sell? And I thought this would be the right place to look!

    Thank you!

When you guys watched Cloverfield for the first time, did the movie make you want to buy an expensive ass camcorder and start shooting found footage movies?

I know I wanted to. I got obsessed with cloverfield since I first saw it and I wanted my mom to buy me a camcorder with night vision. She did but not the professional camcorders, just those small ones you buy at Walmart.

But I remember I wanted to own a panasonic hvx200 cause that's what they used for the movie. I even held one a few times. Heavy as shit, and a capture card workflow that is intimidating due to the camera mostly using P2 cards, but I didn't care. I wanted to make movies.

Will the next film be a sequel to Cloverfield?

When I first watched Cloverfield a year ago, I was annoyed to see that the sequels weren't in the same style as the first and were just completely different movies with the Cloverfield name slapped on them. Is there any news that the movie in development will be a direct sequel to the first, or at least similar (found footage)? Thanks.

    May 22nd Question

I noticed at the end of the film when the characters run under the Greyshot Arch that there’s a ton of leaves on the ground. If the movie takes place near late spring wouldn’t there be virtually no leaves?

Then again I guess some rare varieties of trees do shed their leaves during May-June-July.

And if there’s been a late spring cold snap possibly it could’ve caused new budding trees to shed too.

Sorry if this is nit-picky, just an observation

Thoughts on these plot ideas for the sequel

So I’ve often thought about where the next movie (the actual sequel) should go as far as the story, and I just wanted to write them out and see what you folks think. Let me know your thoughts, and feel free to to share your potential ideas for the next film!

    1. The story picks up exactly where it left off:

The film begins in Central Park, where the first movie ends. Rob and Beth somehow survive and continue to try and escape NYC before Clovie or Operation: Hammer Down gets them. Pretty basic and kind of dull, I know.

    1. Continue the story from a military POV:

As we all know, the first film is found footage. The stamp at the beginning shows that this footage was recovered by the military at some point. The sequel would show the end of the found footage (Rob and Beth under the bridge) and then the new film begins by panning out on a screen and it’s a military person just having finished watching their recording of that night. From there, it goes more into the military continuing the fight against Clovie, and the aftermath that follows (if they succeed in killing him).

    1. Lily:

This one I often go back and forth on. Lily is the one main character that seemingly successfully escaped New York in time. There’s two ways I think you can go with this one…

    A) it’s months or years later, and Lily is fighting in the courts for justice for her deceased friends and trying to bring Tagruato down. This would have flashbacks/court footage of the incident and then go onto explain how Clovie was eventually taken out, and if anything else happened after that (more monsters coming to NYC, killing off the parasites etc.)

    B) it’s the same night/morning of the first film, but she helps the military destroy Clovie by sharing everything she knows/has seen during the attack. This one can fit into the military plot line too.

This is just a bored, stoned Cloverfield fan’s ramble, basically. I, like many of you, just want the sequel to be made in this lifetime. Thanks for reading!
