Hey Cloverheads. It's with a heavy heart that we have decided to shut down r/cloverfield. Due to the recent re-activation of Slusho.com, and the excitement surrounding the upcoming sequel, new fans will flock to various online communities, including Reddit. This would normally be a good thing, however, due to the size and popularity of r/Cloververse, our little subreddit would receive little traffic in comparison. Couple that with the high activity of r/Cloververse, and our subreddit is practically irrelevant. You'll be able to view everything, just not comment or post.

This was not an easy decision to make. But the fact of the matter is that r/Cloververse is larger, more active, more popular and overall eclipses our subreddit entirely. I apologize to those who disagree with this decision, I myself was very conflicted about this, but not only will this help the organization of the community as a whole, but will divert people to a more active subreddit rather than one that's struggling to stay active.

I, and the small moderation team of u/LJensen123Q and u/the-nator appreciate all of you, and thank you for keeping this place alive for so long. But it's time to rest.

Not sure if this will be of interest to anyone, but thought i'd share just in case. I had such fond memories of the marketing campaign around the film, decided to rewatch it and loved it more than I ever remembered. Just saw that the newest Cloverfield film may be based around a virus and it gave me an awesome idea for a Cloverfield movie that I’m calling- “The Cloverfield Virus”.

When space and time are ripped open due to the “Shepard Particle accelerator” activating in ‘Cloverfield Paradox’ causing the events of ‘Cloverfield’ and ‘10 Cloverfield lane’- another universe is experiencing a type of “Quantum Sickness” because of the multiverse bleeding into itself between universes. The sickness acts like the ‘Trixie Virus’ (Crazies) or the ‘Lytta Virus’ (Happiness) sending a huge number of the human and animal populations into a violent bloodlust state as they start attacking and killing everything that moves including those who are infected as well.

Yesterday I re-watched Cloverfield and by reading some comments I discovered that there is a Special Investigation Mode in the Blu-Ray. I don't have the blu-ray, so I'm asking here. Is there a way to watch this special investigation mode outside the bluray, maybe a mkv file around in the internet? If not, can somebody make a summary of what is this special investigation mode? I saw a post with a screenshot, showing this special investigation mode, where there's the film with a map of NY and comments underneath. In other post, there's subtitles made by the military, but I think this is just military comments (like the director/producer comments we see in some films).

Anyway, I'm just curious, because I'm a cloverfield nerd, confused after the events in the Cloverfield Paradox, but still a fan of the original 2008 film.

I saw it on a plane from Vietnam to Hawaii. I hadn't been back to the States in years and I left under shady circumstances. I was in a bad place with substances and I was going to a family reunion in Hawaii. My nerves were shot when I chose to watch this of all films on the plane. Upon arrival in Hawaii I went through Customs and the lady was just as sweet as she could be until she ran my passport and her face changed. She asked me if I had ever been in trouble and I said, like, well, you know...She grabbed the radio and called out some numbers.

I forgot how loaded for bear American cops are and these GI Joe mfs show up and escort me to this room and the door shuts and I realise there is no handle on this side of the door. After they get done hassling some Japanese lady they tell me about the warrant. State of Georgia wants my cracker ass with a passion over a small matter of some damaged parking meters from 6 years prior. Then they stick me in a freezing cold little cell and the long slow process of extradition played out from one tiny, subterranean concrete box to another, with no way out, completely at the mercy of an absolutely insane monster, with nothing to think about, nothing to dream about except 10 Cloverfield Ln.

I've always loved Cloverfield, as well as its sequels, and am always excited to read about anything new that may be in the works. That being said, I wasn't one who got into the arg and didn't know about all of the conspiracy until after I saw the movie. For someone who is wanting to dive as deep as possible into the rabbit hole, where should I start? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Not only did Rob get his surviving friends killed going after Beth whom he was not even with at the time. He was completely stubborn and they should have left the city much sooner but didn’t because Rob was a horrible person. He was yelling at his friends when they didn’t do what he wanted, he didn’t heed the Militaries warning, or did he think about others that were trying to survive.

How come this group doesn’t have millions of member???

Just sat back and let them question everything about what was going on, what the monster looked like, why it was found footage, etc. At the end I gave them a lore dump of the 2008 universe and now we'll probably be watching 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox soon lol.
