Saw a guy, who had a train to catch, just leave his ebike as all the docks were full and already a queue of people were ahead of him. What are the consequences for him?
A small percentage of acoustic bikes are buttery smooth and it almost feels effortless to ride but the majority feel so heavy. I’m not the fittest biker. Any quick way to identify them without a slow undocking/testing/re-docking process? I do go for newer looking bikes with a smooth gearing feel but that doesn’t always work.
To the girl on the electric Citi Bike that just knicked my car as I was turning left on Lewis, I hope you are okay!!
I am always very wary of bikers while driving, like triple checking my mirrors because I’m so scared to hit someone but my car is due for a car wash and I truly did not see you coming.
I pulled over to chat and make sure that you were okay but you seemed to be in a rush and assured me that you were alright…anyhow I feel really bad so I’m hoping that you and the bike are unharmed.
As predicted, the bike angel rewards system was completely changed; new/less rewarding algorithm and no cash payouts. For me it was a good side hustle and incentive to get a good paid workout. The crew that ruined it seemed to be doing it full time and mostly gone from the leaderboard. I still see you honest angels out there and on the board :) Keep it up!
I was needing a bike and didnt look at the state of it properly, as i was undocking it the whole mechanical system came out and i am unable to redock it. its currently charging me rn and i really dont know what im gonna do
Tried multiple bikes. First one couldn’t change seat height. Second one couldn’t shift gears. Then I went down the line and NONE of them could shift gears. Surprised they aren’t rated for low temperatures.
I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that I’ve sparingly seen droppoff points at 12 or even 9 points. Even 6 points dropoffs are a bit rare. 3 seems to be the norm.
I goofed and left my key plugged in while unlocking in the snowstorm yesterday afternoon 1/19 at one of the racks at E35th and Madison. I could see a kind stranger happened upon it shortly after at 6:41pm, unlocked an eBike, then immediately redocked. I've deactivated the key now (thanks for not taking the ride!!), but key was gone by the time I returned. If by chance you happen on this post and hung on to the key, I'd love to be reunited and not have to wait for the glacial pace of key shipping. Thanks!
Mods sorry if this should be in the sticky...wasn't sure since this isn't a missing bike.
I'm not seeing the option in my citibike app. is it because I got Lyft Pink All Access for free from my credit card?
Started out losing my triple because there wasn't a single neutral station on the UWS this morning, then when I got to Hudson Yards I had to visit 4 different docks before I should find an available spot. The map would say there's one spot, but twice the spot was broken & twice someone else must have just beaten me to it. The lack of neutrals in the morning in my neighborhood is nothing new, but the lack of available docks near my office is. Is there any way this is tied to congestion pricing? I can't imagine car commuters parking uptown & biking the rest of the way, but maybe some are?
Then when I was leaving work I was in a bit of a rush & took out a bike with a flat front tire. I immediately realized my mistake & tried to put it back, but the triangle was too low to reach the housing due to the flat tire & I didn't have the strength to lift it up on my own. Instead I biked on it, which was a bit scary but I was able to ride it. When I got to my destination I had the same issue of being unable to return the bike on my own. Fortunately a passerby helped me lift it up and I was able to return it properly & hit the wrench button so no one else would have to go through that. Wish the person who rode it before me had done that.
I always used to check the tires before I took out a bike, but admit I've been lax about it lately. Lesson learned.
Corner of Palisade Ave and 4th Street.
884-5786 is the bike number..
u/citibike if you charge me $$$$ when a kid grabs my bike when I'm distracted for a minute and joyrides for a day (returning the bike to a doc later) — please reward me $$$ when I show you where you are recover your property. Is this gear worth nothing to you? Is this not an angelic tip?
This algorithm drives me crazy. All empty spaces but it's worth nothing to dock a bike hete
Got up this morning for my usual commute - Ebike to the Path, Path to the office.
Every single Ebike I scanned showed this alert. I saw a couple people ride up and dock their Ebikes. I immediately scanned them after the previous people docked yet it still showed this same alert??? How can a bike be flagged for repair if I just saw someone riding it? This happened four times!
I have plenty of time to make it to work so that’s not an issue but it’s really frustrating that this happened. Anyone have this problem before?
Have searched the sub and read about others' experiences. I'm in the middle of the situation and wanted to share in case it helps others .
I'll report back... 😡
UPDATE: 4 hours & 15 minutes after I docked the bike, my app refreshed to tell me that my ride had ended. I looked at my ride history, which shows I had a ride of four and a half hours, but with zero charge. I presume a technician has just rebooted the station and the logs refreshed to show that i had docked the bike more than 4 hours ago. Thanks for all the advice! Going forward, I will never trust a green light again, and will always validate ride completion in the app before leaving the dock.
Missed the mark to cash in 1000 points before the clock struck 2025, and seeing as how I won't receive cash for the points I just redeemed at the start of this month (assuming whatever arrives in February won't have the option for ACH payout), I was wondering if anyone knew what gift cards are actually available in lieu of straight cash. The email from Lyft mentioned Amazon, Delta, Doordash, and Walmart, but are any other options available?
Someone didn’t dock their electric bike completely at 3 Av & 14 St but I did it… always rmbr to check your phone after docking the bike.
I'm still trying to guess whether congestion pricing will lead to in increase in Citi Bike ridership.
Would the tolls charged get any people out of their cars or taxis/for-hire vehicles onto Citi Bike?
Would more people using public transit cause some of those people to use Citi Bike more?
Would less traffic encourage Citi Bike riders to ride more? Or the opposite, if increased motor vehicle speeds terrify them?
I think it would take a lot for these things to happen, but who knows
My friend was able to rent a bike no problem. So it was literally just me.
Has anyone with the Chase Sapphire Reserve x Lyft 3-year membership benefit cancelled their Reserve credit card in the third year of membership (after paying the 50% cost for the Lyft Pink annual fee)? Did that terminate your Lyft Pink All Access membership too?
I just paid for my third-year in November 2024, but want to cancel the credit card now in January 2025. I'm worried that cancelling my card will terminate my Lyft Pink membership and thus, my CitiBike and Bike Angels membership. That was definitely the case during the two-year free period, but not sure what they would do now that I've actually paid for a year (albeit at a reduced rate), and unfortunately can't find the terms online as the benefit is no longer available, and customer service is kind of clueless about this. Thanks for any real-world data points!
