This is kind of troubleshooting too...
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Duet3, and would like to play the latest good game, that is right Red Alert 2 (and Yuri's Revenge of course)
I had a MacBook Pro previously to serve this purpose, but it died.
I have developer mode enabled, installed Linux, and tried to install Steam but keep getting errors I think because this is a Arm 64 processor or something like that.. Keep getting error about needing to install libc.so.6 When I try to do this, I get a rabbit hole of more errors.
I am nerd-adjacent with decent nerd skills, but can't figure this one out. I would appreciate any help, so I can get back to stopping the Soviet Invasion. I am not picky about it being through Steam, but am led to believe that will be the easiest method.
I would be really happy with my chromebook even if I can't play this top tier game, it functions great for my business and running Python scripts. I have uploaded the errors I get of my abysmal failures. Thank you for your help, Reddit.
My brother bought me a Chromebook fro studying and I tried to download steam on it to play some light games But when I tried to download steam, it said something like "your Chromebook isn't supported" So is there a way using Linux to download steam on my not supported Chromebook
Hi guys, I wonder how I could play this game on my Chromebook. The game is in the Play Store, and it starts well, but the controls aren't optimized for non-touchscreen use. The directional cross is the main problem; I have to use my mouse to move, but the mouse is also used to aim and look around. I was about to give up on this game, but I found an article that talked about the accessibility features, and it seemed perfectly suited for my case. I activated the beta OS, and I added the flag to enable the accessibility features, but the game's icon to activate them doesn't appear.
Thank you for reading, a desperate French guy.
couple years ago i asked for a windows laptop specifically for gaming, mom got me a chromebook and i have yet to find a single thing that’s genuinely fun to play on this thing. i want steam but dont think i can get it on here, i was just on steam’s page and when i was hitting install nothing happened. i seriously just want a game to play 😭
So I recently bought a few games on steam and then I had the biggest brain moment and realized I didn't have a laptop, so I pull Amazon and search up laptop, not thinking I had to spend a lot of money I bought a Chromebook, it arrives and I install steam, then I learn about steam requirements and find out the chromebook won't work, should I return it and buy a more expensive laptop or is there a alternative through Linux, (I am electronicly stupid so please explain in a way I could understand)

today i encountered a problem where when i try to connect my xbox series X controller to my Chromebook and run linux game, linux wont detect it. I know the problem isnt the controller because it works pefectly find on google plays games and browser games to and i do not think the problem is the games either
ive tried the controller on Sonic 3 A.I.R and PCSX2 and it still wont detect it and when i run the command xboxdrv -L
it wont detect it either
I'd really appreciate if someone could help with this I'm completely stuck and have no idea what to do
I wanted to use my systems hardware, albeit basic, to run some basic games so I was told to get steam for Linux. I honestly I have no idea what I'm supposed to do from here. Can I actually play basic games with my hardware?
And to be clear, I'm aware that this chromebook was never meant to run games outside of cloud gaming. Any tips are much appreciated. And excuse my ignorage.
It's not available on the ap store but I have found a publicly available free apk on the web. I have the ADB and linux stuff activated I just want to know how I get the game to run
Yo Guys!
The guys at Acer told me they have a 'GAMING LAPTOP' which is a Chromebook 🤣
It's basically a Chromebook plus with a RGB keyboard and a 120Hz 2k Screen. Anyone else tried one of these?
I updated Arknights new update but suddenly all app games and Play Store stopped functioning and the warning messages kept flooding in. I tried to remove some amounts of memory size but "Uninstall" froze or not responding to be uninstalled. I restarted, shut down and other things but all apps only froze and unresponsive "Uninstall" functions.
I'm tryna play lethal company but it wont let me download it, anyone know how i can make my chromebook run among us? Like how do I mod it to play Town of Salem
This is relating to ARM based Chromebooks as those are what I'm interested in.
I've never had a Chromebook, but I think it would be a cool thing to try out, and I know ARM based Chromebooks can run android games and have access to the Google play store.
My question is, how much access do I actually have to the play store in relation to my phone/tablet, like can I just install anything as if this Chromebook was a regular android phone or tablet?
For example, on my phone I bought Minecraft. I can also play this on my tablet and use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and it works perfectly.
But, I see it has a "chrome OS version sold separately" on the page. Does this mean I cannot install the regular phone version onto a Chromebook? Or is this "chrome OS version" actually for x86 Intel Chromebooks, and that is why it is split? (Which is why I'm specifying my want for ARM based, because I don't know if this makes a difference.)
Also when it comes to Chromebooks, if it works on a phone can I assume it will also work on a ARM chips Chromebook no problem? Or is there compatibility issues? I know the chips are the same (I think?) but I'm just wondering if there's any issues because the OS is obviously different.
Thank you! :)
Like the title says I've been wondering if it's possible to use an SD Card to download games from Steam on it but after looking at multiple posts I'm not really sure if it's possible or not and even if it is I have not gotten to work at all so if there is a way that would be great, but if it is impossible then oh well...
I have a Chromebook and I've been trying to sideload it, but it wasn't working. I installed the Epic Games APK, and when that didn't work I just went to download the Fortnite APK online. It downloaded and opened, but the second it opened it said I needed an ARM64-v8a processor. I have a Chromebook 3100 2 - in - 1 and I have been trying to install it as the lines on force are too long and xcloud is only for a controller, even with extensions to make it work on the keyboard and mouse, it's wonky. Plz help
EDIT: I realize that cloud gaming is a simple route, but I'm trying to mostly just afk, and it always boots me out on Xcloud, dunno about the rest because I don't know a way to skip lines, unlike Xcloud (other than paying.)
EDIT 2: To further clarify, I'm trying to bypass the requirement, I'm not interested in cloud gaming
Basically I want a see throught tab that looks like im doing work but actually playing games.
I really wanted to post this to the normal Chromebook’s Reddit but for some reason it’s not letting me. I have a Lenovo n23 and mysteriously the microphone light is enabled. I have been playing gba games so I don’t want to reset it completely in fear of losing all my progress. I’ve tried to go to settings on both Google chrome and the settings on the Chromebook’s itself. The microphone and camera settings are missing, I’ve looked under all of the settings even advanced settings over and over. Everyone posts about the camera light being in and not the microphone one. I even switched to guest mode and it was still lit on the mic button.
If I have to reset my Chromebook I would need to know how to retrieve those save files! I use Nostalgia GBA lite. Help with either that or retrieving the files would be greatly appreciated and I’m hoping I’m allowed to post about this.
I’m trying to install a user mission (war thunder) and I need to access the steam apps folder. And I can’t find a clear set of instructions on how to do it. Please help, and thank you
I've already downloaded steam and done everything i need to, but when it opens it gives me this message. After i type in the password (i set it with passwd "user") it tells me authentication error. im not sure what to do. model is a Lenovo Chromebook C340-11.
