Rules,

  1. Be friendly to other users within the subreddit. It’s common courtesy guys, we’ve been having a lot of problems recently with people not following this rule. We’re all here for the same thing, to share our passion for chevy trucks. Don’t ruin in by being an asshole.

  2. Only Chevy/gmc trucks. This one should be pretty obvious. Now you may ask yourself "why gmc trucks when this subreddit is called chevytrucks?" Well, i honestly think they are the same thing, just different styling. So i allow gmc trucks as well.

  3. No trolling. This one is self explanatory.

  4. NO ADVERTISING WITHOUT PERMISSION. If you would like to advertise something, Please contact a moderator and make sure it's OK first.

  5. Report content that is breaking the rule(s). Sometimes a moderator may not find content that is breaking the rules, So if you spot any, please report it.

  6. Absolutely NO POLITICS! This is a truck subreddit, not a place for you to share your political agenda. Anyone who does cause problems with politics will be banned.

  7. Do not force your opinion on someone else. This rule could easily go with rule 1, but a lot of people don’t get this so it gets it’s own rule. If you have an opinion on something you don’t like, it is completely okay to share it if you would like, all we ask if that you be nice about it. If you’re an asshole your comment will be removed.

Engine swap advice

I have 94 c15 rotting away at my gparent''s property and I want to replace it with reman 4.3. I was originally thinking about putting a 5.7 on it from jegs, and I know that it should be mostly plug and play, but didn't want to deal with compatibility issues on the small things. Engine has 320k miles on it and has been compromised to oil and coolant so it's goner. Had it start up for the last time 2 years ago but it had horrible shaking throughout the truck. I for sure know I'll be replacing many more parts since a lot of it is stock. What would be the average pricing of labor with swapping a plug and play engine like this? I won't be taking it out myself.

Speaker replacement

2018 Silverado Regular cab

y right door speaker is on its way out (crackling) so i’m planning on replacing it with some upgraded speakers. I’m not the richest person so i can’t really afford an amp at this time. I’m wanting to know what RMS speakers i should go with for door speaker replacement, and maybe the rear pillar speakers as well. Could my stock head unit handle it? I have the 8in touchscreen MyLink radio.

2005 Chevy 1500 STOCK Ride Height

Does anyone know the stock ride height for a 2005 chevy 1500? I need it from the axle to the frame where the stock bump stop sit ideally because I don't have wheel arches or tires to go off of. The Deaver C85 leafs are supposed to be a 1in lift from stock so I am attempting to figure out where my designed suspension is going to sit with weight on the frame before I purchase springs and just test it. Thanks!

How much steering play is normal for your Chevy?

I have a 95 chevy g20. It has a lot of steer play. I'm trying to compare to other people's experience to see if this amount is normal. Any input would be great!

Need Help

Hey guys I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD I came outside to see my truck like this . Someone siphoned the gas out but I don't how. Im not sure if they used a drill to make a hole in the gas tank or was there a bolt that was removed (the hole is circled in red)

3rd Gen HD serviceability?

Hey there! So I currently own a second gen 2012 3500 with the gas 6 l. It's my daily service vehicle for my work in the door industry. When I purchased it, it already had fairly high mileage, and I had to rebuild the transmission right out of the gate. Overall, I've been pretty happy with it. It's been very serviceable from my experience, there's so much room in the engine bay!

Now, because I am subcontracting, and the 2012 truck was a personal purchase when I bought it, I'd like to buy a newer more comfortable and less miled up example through my business. I'm considering a 2019 2500 Gas. I'm just wondering if there are design flaws that make maintenance or repair on these generations a massive headache? I just have this inherrant fear of newer vehicles because of the horror stories I've seen and been told about.

Thanks much! Ti

350 plus holy sniper carb EFI

Hey I have a 72 single cab c10 and would like to make it a daily driver. Currently has 283 in it but it doesn’t have enough power so I have plans of swapping a 350 in it for some more ponies. Was wondering if I efi and 350 swap it if it would be daily drivable? Anyone has any experience with this?

Onto bigger things

Well my 08 Sierra is about to move onto bigger things. From stock, to FTS lift, to flatbed, and now onto truggy. Build plan includes Ford Dana 60 SAS with 3 link, 4 link the 14B rear, shorten the wheelbase, add a lot of tube and party!!!!

08 HD Rims on an 03

Looking at a set of 17" rims off an 08 2500hd for my 2003 2500hd. I have been informed the rims will not fit due to different bolt pattern. Is there an adapter to make these rims work?

06 Silverado 5.3/4l60

Need help diagnosing my truck problems. For starters truck was swapped. I did a Efan conversion and had ecm turn them on and load a base 06 tune since ecm was for the motor and mismatching vin. Now since I plugged in the ecm the truck starts fine, idles fine, check engine code (p0054 and p0060), has throttle response for like 5 seconds and then just cuts off no throttle response and truck idles. Can restart and same thing. Swapped out the TAC module, upgraded infamous grounds wires, cleaned MAF and TB. Never had this problem before the ecu tune. I asked the tuner and he said it’s not his fault he just loaded in a base tune. Would it be throttle body or Throttle position sensor ?

1992 chevy 3500 454 update

We got it to run for about 5 seconds after replacing ecu. After I shut it off. When I tried starting it again the passenger side stuck open and dumped gas, while the driver side shut off. Now whenever I try to crank that's all that happens. I feel like I'm getting so close to making her run. Any ideas where I went wrong?

Replaced ignition module, distributor, coil, ecu, and replaced the 4 wire connecter running into the ignition module.

Used truck advice

Hello everyone, I'm currently looking at a 2018 2500HD 6.0 cclb 4x4 work truck trim. It has 178,000 miles looks like it was a work truck for a company in Texas got all services done by a dealership on time never skipping anything according to the carfax. It drove nice and is pretty much what I'm looking for in a truck. My only concern is if this will be a reliable truck at this mileage or is it soon going to need big expenses/ how long can I reasonably expect it to last. Thanks for any info or advice yall can provide.

Tranny problems

Have a 1995 gmc Sierra with a 5.3 swap from what i belive is a 2006 Silverado, had a new wiring harness installed and one of the connections broke and the wiring burn on the exhaust, I fixed the burn wiring and got it cleaned and mounted right, but now it is stuck in 3rd. I can shift it into 1st and 2nd manually, but when it is in drive it only stays in 3rd. The codes all led me to believe it’s the tcm, but I’ve read there is no tcm on that year, any suggestions for what I could do?
