Be friendly to other users within the subreddit. It’s common courtesy guys, we’ve been having a lot of problems recently with people not following this rule. We’re all here for the same thing, to share our passion for chevy trucks. Don’t ruin in by being an asshole.
Only Chevy/gmc trucks. This one should be pretty obvious. Now you may ask yourself "why gmc trucks when this subreddit is called chevytrucks?" Well, i honestly think they are the same thing, just different styling. So i allow gmc trucks as well.
No trolling. This one is self explanatory.
NO ADVERTISING WITHOUT PERMISSION. If you would like to advertise something, Please contact a moderator and make sure it's OK first.
Report content that is breaking the rule(s). Sometimes a moderator may not find content that is breaking the rules, So if you spot any, please report it.
Absolutely NO POLITICS! This is a truck subreddit, not a place for you to share your political agenda. Anyone who does cause problems with politics will be banned.
Do not force your opinion on someone else. This rule could easily go with rule 1, but a lot of people don’t get this so it gets it’s own rule. If you have an opinion on something you don’t like, it is completely okay to share it if you would like, all we ask if that you be nice about it. If you’re an asshole your comment will be removed.

Looking at a couple 2015 & 2016 4x4 Suburbans and both have 5.3L, around 100k miles for around $20k.
Is this generally a good generation to buy? Heard about lifter issues. Main concerns are being able to work on it myself and it lasting a long time. Thoughts? Are some years better than others?
I’ve going back and forth with this decision and figured instead of mental gymnastics I could get some perspective
Currently have a 24 2500 ltz midnight with 29k miles - loaded . My fav option is the adaptive cruise
I owe 31k on it Gm financing 1.9apr 28 payments to go
My wife doesn’t like driving it, I sold the trailer and now it’s a big tool that is overkill for me and the family. Trying to be smarter with unneeded expenses that could be put towards retirement. In this case with our heavy driving , gas cost .
Avg mpg here 14.4 @28k $5diesel = $9722
Im think to sell it and pickup a 24 premier suburban for 74k / 10k off Sticker with the 3.0
Assuming I can sell it for 68 (dealer wants to give 58k) I would put 35k down and finance out at 6% and owe 9k more but have 0 miles a vehicle that my wife can drive and with the plan of having 3 kids 2 dogs and in-laws a better suited vehicle that can still tow the boat . Gas cost $6,363
$3500 savings / $300 month *
The other part to the equation -
1.) sell wife’s car traverse premier 85k miles (20k) monthly gas cost $250 and pickup a used Tesla for around town . $3k/yr gas cost . Currently house has solar , telsa backups and no power bill
Assuming my monthly payment is similar I believe My monthly cash flow savings would be roughly $500/mo
What am I missing ? Do it ? Don’t ?
She's 2006 bone stock, plan on getting new rims and lifting her a tad
Hey guy's, i just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been a part of this subreddit. I started it years ago after seeing there was no specific subreddit just just chevy trucks. I never expected to have over 60,000 members in a community i made.
I know i haven't been very active in the past few years, life caught up to me very quickly and changed what i do daily. I've been trying to be more active here to help out and contribute to the community.
But at this point i wanna thank the moderators i chose to help run the subreddit. They took charge while i was gone and helped maintain the community so i couldn't be more greatful.
But to end this off i just wanted to say thank you to everyone thats been a part of this community! Makes me happy to see how many people share the same passion that i do.
First truck and I’m working on my mechanics certifications soon :)
I know it’s not everyone’s style but she’s my girl so I love her regardless hahaha
Green arrow on dash is on when headlights and or fog lights are on. makes my mirror light up orange and turn signal doesn’t use sequential. when headlights are off / fog lights are off. the green arrow disappears, the mirror light is white ( working properly) and sequential works just fine. any suggestions?
Looking nice radio to put in my 08 Silverado $300-$600 bucks go⬇️
Replaced my bad radiator over the weekend really the rad thermostat and both hoses, was good until this morning. Came outside and there was a pool of coolant under my bitch. The overflow tank was damn near empty. I added coolant went to work and just got home. Overflow tank damn near bone dry, with all the rain we got in Jersey today I couldn’t get as close as I need to but I tried to make a vid.
That’s not the water pump correct? Is that the timing chain or something else?
Don’t be shy I need your Chevy expertise if you have any lol.
How much should an engine for a two wheel drive 95 silverado cost? I'm considering getting one from my local salvage yard to repair my truck. I got into a wreck in August that destroyed my new truck, and I think it would be best to bring the silverado back to life instead of paying an arm and a leg for a new truck.
My father-in-law passed in May 2024. He owned a 1972 Chevy K10 1/2 ton pickup truck that he recently had the engine replaced. We have the vin and previous license plate number but are having trouble locating the vehicle. We also have the keys so we know the truck was not sold. We were able to contact the shop where the engine was replaced and they said he picked it up over a year ago. We are over his estate now and cannot close the estate till we can find the vehicle and move over ownership or sell it. Any advice?
Seems you can't get a gm, ac delco or delphi mpfi replacement or even an oem scfi unit.
Is it better to just replace or clean the oem poppets?
I have a 97 c2500 with 188k and is used infrequently for picking up mulch, soil, collecting leaves and picking up building materials.
The cheap knockoff junk seems like a waste of time and a safety hazard with the amount of fuel leaks and failing injectors that dump fuel and hydrolock the engine.
Went from jumping it at the starter with a screwdriver to something a little more convenient and also added a bottle opener for idk.. cool factor I guess?😂
Got this with a service manual I ordered. Don't actually have an S-10 EV (though I'd love to have one!) but wanted to share the owners manual with y'all anyway of GM's first EV pickup!
I have a 1999 GMC Sierra 1504L 60 E transmission went out. I definitely need another one for my job as it is my every day work car and I run my landscaping business out of it. Someone offered me a 2003 Tahoe 5.3 L 4L60 E is it a straight swap
Hopefully my ordeal helps someone more quickly solve the same mess. I bought a new 2025 Silverado ZR2 a bit over a month ago. Immediately connected my iPhone via wireless CarPlay, no issues, worked reliably until about a week ago. I did not put two and two together that it failed around the time my trial OnStar services ran out.
I do all the normal things trying to fix CarPlay; delete the phone, re-add the phone. Delete the car's wifi and bluetooth profiles on the phone side, re-add. Reboot phone, reset car infotainment, do all the other stuff again. It would always easily pair again, show the code on both sides, ask for permission to do the CarPlay stuff, which I'd grant, and then it would immediately fail.
I find a single obscure post suggesting this can occur when the OnStar data plan runs out and they disable the car's hotspot functionality as a result. Wireless CarPlay uses bluetooth to set things up, but uses wifi for the data transmission, even if the phone is not receiving internet connectivity through the hotspot. If the termination of the OnStar services results in the vehicle's hotspot being disabled, because presumably you aren't using it, it also breaks wireless CarPlay.
I made the mistake of calling OnStar support, via the car's button, mid afternoon. I was on hold for 25 minutes. They answer, I tell them my understanding is that I need tech support, and I need my hotspot to be re-enabled but with no attached data plan, and I had no interest in a data plan. First guy just wants to sell me a data plan. I was adamant I did not want that. I get second person after that few minutes, they want to sell me a data plan, but did at least admit to knowing about this issue and adding a data plan would solve it. I said enabling my hotspot will also solve it, that's what I want. They get me to tech support, so we're at about minute 30 now.
Tech support time: go into wifi settings, enable data sharing. In my truck, the wifi network name, and password, are spinning gold rings, and if I click into the enable data sharing item and set it to Yes, it just goes back to no, whether I stay there or leave and come back. Okay, let's turn your phone's wifi and bluetooth off, now turn your vehicle off, now open and close the driver's door, now wait three minutes; I'll put you on hold and come back, because I have to issue a command to the vehicle to tell it to re-enable the wifi hotspot with no data plan, and it needs to be off for three minutes before we start it back up and let it reconnect. Okay. Three minutes later, start your car, go back to wifi hotspot settings, any change? Nope.
Okay, let's turn car off again, open and close door, and I'm going to hang up and call you on your phone. Okay, ring, on cell now. Next step, start the car back up, and let's hold the steering wheel hangup button for fifteen seconds, then wait for the stereo to show a reset screen. Okay that's happening. It boots back up, and woohoo, wifi hotspot is active again, data sharing enabled, I have no OnStar data plan, and finally my phone can reconnect to wireless CarPlay successfully. It has been working reliably since then.
Phew...
Yes that was a nightmare, but I still like the ease of CarPlay, I like how the Apple Maps nav directions show up on my truck's head's up display, I want to talk to my phone and tell it what music to play, etc. I like it enough I would probably choose a vehicle for the feature things being roughly similar. (In case GM is listening, since I know they've been removing it from some vehicles)
Hi all, in the past hour my 2015 silverado 1500 with a 6l80 has started clunking when you go from drive to reverse and reverse to drive. I checked all my u joints and also my rear diff and it's neither of those. From the best I can tell it's something either inside my transfer case or inside my actual transmission. Has anyone experienced this at all and if so what was it?
I have a 2023 1500 custom. What's the best option to put in the empty space on floorboard in the front, between the two seat? Is there anything custom out there? Just looking for a little more storage thats easier to reach when driving.
