Hi! I am working on a project for work and I am a little stuck. I am still new to Captivate (using the 12.4 version), so I am hoping someone else has experienced this before and can help me. Forgive me if this is common knowledge!
I have a PowerPoint presentation that I have turned into a video with audio. I have added that video to a slide using a media block component. However, that video is not the only block that I have on that slide. Above the video, I have some introductory text for learners to read before viewing the video, so learners have to manually click on the video when they are ready to begin playing it. My issue is that in the PowerPoint presentation, there are references to YouTube videos that are supposed to play at a specific point in the presentation.
Is it possible for me to create an overlay slide that contains the referenced video to be played when the original video reaches that point? And then the learner can exit the overlay screen to return to the same point in the video as they were before?
TL;DR: Can I create a video overlay to play a Youtube video on top of a video media block?
Hi, we have created several course modules in the new Captivate and published in Moodle with no issues. But now we have a module that runs smoothly in Preview, but once published and uploaded into our Moodle, it shows just as a white screen and the module doesn't start. The module has 23 screens. By multiple testing we know that there are 4 particular screens which when removed, result in the module publishing and running normally. There is nothing different with these screens. What could be the issue?
I don't use Captivate Classic a lot but I need to create a quiz where after the learner answers the question, a follow up question appears where they select what reference they used to answer the initial question. For example:
"It is blue" True or False?
Answer: True
"Reference used" Reference 1 or Reference 2?
Both parts need to be correct to score.
I appreciate any help. TIA!
I have used a custom next button to appear on slide revisits. but I have a few queries
Title kind of says it, ive gone through the entire theme editor and cant find the option to update the colour and font for the 'instruction' item on simulation slides. Any way to do this?
p.s all new captivate, not classic.
So in this widget: https://imgur.com/a/o4PU5wW
I realized recently that in this widget you can drag the ENTIRE gray box with all the options in it completely off the slide. Unfortunately this creates a horrible problem where the Reset button does nothing, returning back to the slide does nothing, and the only way forward is to reset the course completely.
I know the average learner probably isn't silly enough to do this, but I would LOVE an explanation as to why this is even possible?! In what world would the learner need to drag all the options around the slide at all? Now I need to explain to my clients why I have to put a disclaimer on this activity because it could potentially lead to the learner needing to redo the entire course.
Does anyone have a workaround for this? Is there a hidden setting or checkbox to make it so this isn't possible? Is there I way I can code it so that if this accidentally happens, the learner can come BACK to the slide and have it reset the entire activity?
I'm currently using Captivate 12.4 and have an issue with image blocks containing an abundance of dead/unused space beneath the image/text on the slide; the issue persists when published as well. This is most noticeable when I have the image block setup with an image on the left/right, opposite text. When it is published it causes the user to scroll. If it functioned correctly, the dead space wouldn't be there, and scrolling would be minimized if not eliminated. I uncheck the 'Autofit height' box and adjust the box as needed but all it does is shrink the image while maintaining the dead space. I'm stumped.
Does anybody know a potential fix? Or is there something I'm missing?
Hello guys,
I have come across an odd issue in Adobe Captivate. I am developing a course that contains only videos and PDF files using the classic Skin Editor.
However, if I enable the Playback Control in the Skin Editor, I am unable to preview or publish the project. If I switch it off, the project loads as normal.
I need this project to be published with the playback controls so that the learners are able to watch the video content.
Any ideas on how to navigate this?
Hi all!
I'm relatively new to using Captivate (version 12.4), and this community and a lot of the online tutorials have been really helpful so far!
I'm working on putting together an e-Learning course right now, but I noticed that when I'm editing the text the 'g' is fully visible, but once I click out of the textbox it gets cut. This happens to all of the descenders on the bottom lines of a textbox. I already tried messing with padding, line spacing and paragraph spacing but that doesn't seem to help. Has anybody else seen this issue, and if so how did you fix it?
Thank you in advanced!
Trying out New Captivate (regretfully?) I have a project with a video on each slide and a "next" button that is shown at the end of the video using a bookmark. I am testing in SCORM Cloud. Project works great if you sit and watch the videos and hit "next" right away at the end of each slide. However, if you leave the window open and walk away for a few minutes, and then come back and click the next button, eventually the subsequent slides start ending early. On these slides, the video will freeze up to 10+ seconds early - longer the further into the project you get - and the next button will appear. The only option is to go to the next video without being able to see the rest of that slide's content. Any ideas how I might be able to fix this?
I had a certificate widget in a course that was about to go live, but now the continue button isn't allowing learners to move onto the certificate from the text entry box slide (See Paul Wilson's video on YouTube, I followed it exactly like that). Did the 12.4 update throw a bug into the certificate widget?
Hi Guys,
I'm developing some E-learning content and the publish / preview of the module has a scrollbar both ways. How can I fit so that it publishes without?
The only work around I can think of temporarily is that the screen captures I make remove the taskbard icon and the url banner at the top etc but I'd rather they be there to show case some important bookmarks etc.
Can't find anything online either!
Hi I am working on the new captivate to create a course. We created a slide with the filp card widget, when we first open it/click preview you can see the slide displayed. However when I got to the slide I get the attached error "something went wrong while content block insertion". I tried updating to the 12.4, which just made it worse because it takes longer to upload. I also followed what they suggested here : https://community.adobe.com/t5/captivate-discussions/error-message-something-went-wrong-while-content-block-insertion/td-p/13951680 (to Delete the eLearning Assets folder in /Users/Shared/Adobe (on Mac) or C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe (on Win)
Let us know if you're still facing the issues after applying the steps.)
But this didn't work at all!! The only thing I haven't tried yet is to uninstall and re-install fresh. What do you all suggest? Thank you!
Looking through the Adobe announcment about the 12.4 update, I see a lot of fun and well needed additions, like more control over layout/sizing, tools to improve and provide customized learning experiences, etc, but still no hints of a plan to bring Classic projects into Captivate 12, web based objects, or even spell check? Thoughts? What are you still waiting for/wanting?
Hi! I am new to Captivate and have been using it for about 3 months so far, so my apologies if this is common knowledge, but I can't seem to figure this out.
I have two slides that contain videos. I originally uploaded the video to YouTube because I knew that doing so would help to reduce the file size and make it easier when adding the closed captioning. However, after showing it to my director, they did not love the fact that YT shows suggested video thumbnails once video finishes. They thought that would be distracting and confusing to users, which I can understand. So, I went back to Captivate and uploaded the video into the slide directly and then used the slide captioning feature to add in the captioning. But, I see that the captions are only visible on the slide and are not visible when I make the video full screen.
I definitely could be missing something since I am still new to this, but does anyone know how I can make sure those captions appear inside the video frame so that they are visible in fullscreen mode? Or, does anyone know how to not have suggested thumbnails appear at the end of a YT video??
Is there any official support channel for Captivate bugs?
Facing an issue currently where text in certificates is cut off when downloading, which essentially makes the new certificate download feature useless.
Or is it a case of posting on the forum and hoping someone from the community picks it up that has connections?
I am trying to copy text from a voice over to create captions (which is insane that they don't hair auto generate, but whatever) and this dn thing keeps crashing. I cannot run the app as an admin since this is on my company laptop.
Any suggestions and is there an easier way to create captions other than pasting line by line? Why is there not an auto scroll feature for larger blocks of text?
I'm new to Captivate, and cannot locate any text hyphenation features. I realize that a responsive structure includes type perfection limitations, but there has to be some level of automatic hyphenation. This is particularly problematic in narrow column instances (card components, for example), where Captivate simply breaks words with no hyphen inserted. Online searches of "Adobe Captivate hyphen" (including on Adobe.com) deliver such scant results that I'm imagining to my horror that there is no such thing as hyphenation in Captivate. I'm hoping I'm just overlooking something, being a newbie to the app. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I need some serious help. I am working on a ton of different courses through new Captivate and I keep running into the same issue:
I have a narrator that is reading the course content. I time out the slides so specific text pops up at specific times, and it looks perfect in the Timeline. However, when I open the course Preview, text will randomly refuse to load or will pop up at incorrect times.
Has anyone else been having this issue? Is the Preview more true to how the learner will experience the course or is the timeline?
An honest question because the newest version is so fundamentally flawed that we can’t use it for 95% of our client work. And if a client is looking to invest in elearning software the first thing we say is “new Captivate is missing crucial features and old Captivate is scheduled for EOL in a few years”
In the new Adobe Captivate it is not possible to add a media block to quiz slides. But it is possible to toggle images for each individual answer. How would I go about having a single image for a question which all the answers are in reference to?
Currently, I have to include the same image on each individual answer which seems redundant and poorly designed.
None of the help articles on Adobe or independent online sources seem to address this. Has anyone encountered this and found a solution? If this is not possible it seems like an oversight and extremely limiting given the ability to do it in the classic version.
My company has Powerpoint templates that have our branding and look & feel. Is it possible to import those into Captivate?
I have the newest version
Is there a way to edit a background image from a software simulation in 12.3? In Captivate Classic, I could find the background and edit it in Photoshop, but I can't figure out how to find the background slide in 12.3. Is there a library that I'm missing?
Hello, me again!
I have a slide where I want the learner to click all six click boxes (where each goes to a different slide) before they can continue. I have done a lot of reading and generally understand what needs to be done (ie use a conditional variable and make it boolean) but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to execute that on the slide. Can anyone provide assistance?
I set up reporting on my quiz, but the Post Results button isn't showing up at the end of the quiz. I've set the attempts to 1, and I also hit the Review button to see if it shows up and it never does.
I will say, I'm not a Captivate expert, I'm a total n00b. No certs no nothing, but I am using it to build an exam for my employees to take.
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.
Version 12.3.0
1.) We're trying to nail down as close as we can a consistent template with a few slides (Welcome/Title, Audio Notice, Course Complete, Attestation, etc) the way we used to do in Classic with master slides to Save As from. We've added our systems fonts and font settings into presets and imported the theme, but we'd like to bake bullet size into the theme (80% size of fonts) is that setting available somewhere in the theme settings?
2.) Same situation above, we're hoping we can hide slides like we used to in Classic. So far it seems like the only slide that can be hidden is the quiz results slide. Any thoughts?
