Hello, in Camtasia 2019, I could resize my screen capture area and preserve the aspect ratio--there was a check box for that.
In Camtasia 2024, there is a new interface, and I don't see that option anymore. Is it just hidden, or is it gone? I also tried holding down shift and alt, but it didn't work.
Thanks!
Used to be \"Preserve Aspect Ratio\" checkbox here

does anyone know how to fix and what is reason?
I am looking for alternative ways / places that anyone has found to work with their source files. My organization has slashed my teams hard drive space significantly, and believes we can all just work from OneDrive. We have made repeated statements that you can’t work from networked source files, but that isnt being heard. Has anyone found any other way to store and work on source files other than directly from their hard drive?
Hi everyone!
I have question to you guys how to remove a black Camtasia logo in my video? Cuz I have put my 25 minutes house set and I wanted to modify it on video format (which went good), but when I opening this file everything is great but "Background logo". My photo of background has appearing temporarily then its dissappear.
Maybe somebody know how to remove this and put its own picture permanently?
I want to tell you how I cut down post-editing time in Camtasia. I used to spend a ton of time editing my videos in Camtasia because the image quality wasn't great. I used the Visual Effects Filters – there are 33 of them! My go-to was the Color LUT, but honestly, it couldn’t fix everything. It is not a miracle worker! 😆😆
For months, I researched vlogging cameras from Nikon, Canon, and Sony. They all seemed awesome but way out of my budget range for now. Then I found a Logitech MX Brio 4K Ultra HD webcam at a reasonable price.
Want to see it in action? Check out this webcam unboxing video I made with Camtasia. No post-editing or color correction is needed. I am absolutely a fan of this webcam and Camtasia combination.
What camera or webcam do you use for recording?

I recently stumbled across a few shortcut keys (shoutout to the Camtasia training webinars) I use in conjunction with one another when editing timeline audio and thought I would share. While I say audio and this example is based on audio recording, the same concepts can be used when editing video.
How do I use these in the real world?
Hey everyone!
I produce tech videos that focus purely on screen recordings—no face involved. I usually do the narration while recording the screen, then edit the video by adding zoom effects, visual elements, etc. I use a Jabra headset to ensure excellent audio quality.
I've heard some creators prefer to record the audio first and then sync it with the screen recording. I'm curious about this approach. Doesn’t it make editing more cumbersome? What advantages might this method offer?
I’d love to hear your thoughts or any tips you might have to improve my workflow. Thanks in advance!
Looking for genuine reviews from people who have used both. Any major enhancements in 2024 over 2020.
So, currently running Camtasia 2024 and it will not let me import or work with any .avi files. FWIW, I have a Windows 11 PRO machine. I contacted Camtasia support and they indicated I convert the files to .mp4. Any thoughts? I am working with a bunch of files, so it's a lot of work for something that seems like it should just work. Thoughts?
I created a training video with a 10 question quiz at the end. I uploaded it as .scorm file to my LMS. Everything seems to run fine if a user passes the quiz, but if someone fails it, they are unable to take it again. The option to "start quiz" never comes back upon rewatch. There are no settings on Camtasia that I can see and there are no settings on the LMS that look like they prevent the quiz from being retaken. I am in a bit of a pickle here, any suggestions?
Which is the best time and prize to buy camtasia? Should I expect a great reduction for Black Friday or buy the current offer from the website? (As a new user I am offered -100€ from the normal prize) It would also be great to hear which bundle makes „the moste sense“ to get? I am planning to record coding tutorials for bioinformatics using a capture card to show the screen from a laptop running Linux and F studio. I was thinking Snugit & CT but I’m not sure yet what I need snugit actually for? I’m looking forwards to your suggestions :)
I would like to record a screen capture from another laptop (Linux running R studio coding environment) on my windows PC with camtasia. Today I tried it for the first time and used the VCL player to show the screen from the capture card and told camtasia to record that section of my display. I am not sure if this is the correct way? It seems a bit complicated. Is there a easier way? I tried if I can select the capture card directly together with the webcam but this doesn’t seem to be an option. Would be happy to hear about other solutions. Thanks a lot! :)
I have recordings in the Media Bin.
However, no matter which recording I select, the "Timeline" screen at the bottom stays the same.
For me, this is messy and confusing for editing.
How do I change it so that when I select a video in the Media Bin - only the relevant footage will be shown in the Time Line portion of the screen?
(For example, it would be great to have Recording 1. You double-click to select it. And the Time Line automatically changes. I don't want the Time Line for Recordings 1,2 and 3 also appearing when Recording 1 is selected...I hope I'm making sense :) here)

In this video, it shows the person zooming in and out of where to click, time stamp 2:14 . Is this a feature of your program? How does someone do this? Thank you
Whatever video I bring in (usually filmed with iPhone), whether 5 mb or 5 gb, once imported into camtasia, the file size goes into the thousands then (obviously) camtasia stops responding. I can’t find anyone else having this problem, and this is infuriating.
Does anyone know what to do? I have deadlines for some projects and this is driving me crazy, I’m really starting to hate camtasia
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Hi all!
Just rendered a 4K mp4 movie out of 25 GB source files and VLC doesn’t play it. If I render it as 1080p it works.
Does anyone have an idea why?
Thanks for your support!
I swear I googled this, but wasn't able to find an answer. This is for Camtasia v20, so a few years old. When I record and specify 1080p, I get a nice frame on my screen and can move an application into it. I then size it - but it always feels a bit imperfect.
Is there a "move this app into the frame and size it perfectly" keyboard shortcut or some such to do this?
So, I work for a state organization, and have been happily working with the stand-alone software version of Camtasia for a while now. Recently, I recommended we discontinue our Adobe Captivate subscription in favor of a Camtasia+Audiate subscription since I've essentially stopped using Captivate (too bulky, too many bugs) and just generate my SCORM content directly from Camtasia.
Today, the state department of IT (who manages the software subscriptions for all state orgs) got back to me asking why I couldn't just use the Snippit tool or Stream to make videos. I swear. Not even Microsoft ClipChamp- they want me to you Snippit for goodness sake. I don't even know how to respond. It's like trying to answer the question "Well, what can that laptop do that this etch-as-sketch can't?"- where do you even start?
I cannot stand this blackbox approach to recording.
I like to see in real-time what part of my screen is being corded and what the webcam is picking up.
Is there a feature in Camtasia where this can be enabled?
how do i fix delay when im recording with camtasia's recorder? When i use obs audio playback doesnt work. So im trying out camtasia's recorder and i find it after a while it starts to have an delay and later it gets messed up with timings. any fixes?
video audio works when i run it normally ( from the folder ) and when i put it into camtasia it works but when i playback that video audio dissapears. I took a look in audio mixer and its not muted. Nor the video's audio was lowered. Help me pls
2024.1.0 was released today.
One included improvement requested by customers is the ability to control timing for the AI-generated dynamic captions released earlier this year. For more info, see this tutorial.
Camtasia keyboard shortcuts can save a lot of time. What have you found to be valuable?
Splitting clips is the most used Camtasia keyboard shortcut. Are there others that should be added?
Here is a full tutorial on keyboard shortcuts.
Hi all, I can download and use various timers and frame counters. Looking into the detail, is.uses apparently some variables like %(f.ff). Is nobody aware of a list of variables? Also, trying to find a simple counter (just counting up), any idea?
I work for a small software company as the only trainer. I create internal and external training documentation and spend a-lot of my time creating and editing videos in Camtasia. I would say what I do is pretty basic - almost exclusively screen recordings with audio demonstrating how to use our software. I'm curious as to any general feelings, tips or tricks people have that are in the same boat.
My typical process is to write a script, record the audio, record the screen recording, then go through and adjust the audio levels for any place I breath or pause, use ripple delete to trim out any long pauses, watch the exported video, make changes, export again and upload to YouTube.
For me one of the most frustrating things is just going through the videos leveling the audio - removing beaths mostly (I'm lucky not to um or ah a lot.) It can take a long time to do, but it really makes a difference in the final production.
Another thought - how do you feel about or use audio effects? I dabble with noise reduction and compression, but sometimes it can be really hard to get two clips to have the same audio quality. Any preferred settings or tips/tricks? Thanks in advance!
Hi all! I'm a new Camtasia user, and the honeymoon is over. My most recent file suddenly won't open at all. I just get the endless rainbow wheel, and I have to force quit because my Mac tells me Camtasia is Not Responding.
I found this post (linked below) in the subreddit about preventing a crash by renaming Library files. However, I'm still at a loss for how to find Camtasia files in my library folder. I found an online tutorial that told me to open finder, select Go -> Go to folder... and enter ~/Library. However, once I do that, I can't find any Camtasia files. When I try to search by name or extension .cmproj, it locates items for me that are on my desktop, and not in any Library folder.
Thanks for any help you can offer! :)
I'm using the PC version 24.07. When I record a fullscreen screen capture, like from a YouTube videos, the colors are always way to bright, washed out a bit, and the contrast seems to be set to high. I've been looking thru the settings, and I do not see anywhere that I can adjust the levels of brightness or contrast for the initial screen capture process.
Are there any settings for this? Or do I have to manually adjust the brightness, color saturation and contrast to try and correct screen captured videos, so they don't look like a 1960s TV broadcast?
With the 20% sale that just popped up, I am considering getting myself some new toys to play with (Audiate and Assets)...
Curious to know if folks think the full Asset library is indeed, ahem, an asset - and worth the $$$.
Would love to hear your experience. Thanks!
