My friend and I are looking for a video editing software. We’re new to it and hoping to find something that is easy to pick up on. So far we’re leaning towards Camtasia’s $180 year plan.

We have a green screen and mics to comment on videos and just joke around. Are we able to add a video to the background and crop ourselves in the foreground? I saw a few YouTube videos but are there any issues with trying to do that?

Also, are you able to edit audio without Audiate? Is it fairly simple? Do we have to record audio from our laptop or can we upload the audio from our phones?

If there is anything else worth knowing I’d appreciate your insight! Thank you in advance!

I’ve been using Camtasia for about 5 years for work tutorials, but I’m starting to gravitate to Adobe Premiere. I suppose I’ll still stick with Camtasia for desktop recording since Premiere doesn’t seem to have that capability. I have some experience with Premiere since I’ve filmed concerts & edited with Premiere. But I’m curious if anyone has switched and how was your experience?

In Camtasia 2023, every time I use the recorder to make a voice recording, it adds the "emphasize" effect. This is annoying. Anyone know how to turn that off?

I have a brand new Rode PodMic USB. I used to have the Blue Snowball USB. With both of these microphones I notice that I get glitches in audio or some sort of electronic sound when I do the voice-over during a screen recording. I do not get this issue when I use the Sound Recorder program of Windows where I only record audio and not the screen. This happens only when I use Camtasia to record screen and microphone at the same time. I am using Windows 11. Is anyone else having this issue? Please I am desperate to get proper sound out of this high-end Rode mic, it is a waste to lower and ruin the audio quality because of Camtasia.

Is anyone else having this problem? Recording 4K 30fps on Pixel 8 pro. AVC (not HEVC).

Camtasia will not display the video in the preview unless it is proxied. Upon export, the video does not show, only audio and any call outs I added to the project.

I will send this footage into techsmith for them to diagnose, but their recommendation is to encode the video with handbrake.

Just be aware if there are any pixel users in here, encoding the file and matching file names does not work. Camtasia tells me this isn't the same as the source file.

Working on a video project in Camtasia 2023. I recorded my voice over first (as I usually do) and saved my project. My next step is to load my video clips to the media bin so I can star placing them on the timeline. The media load to the bin fine, but when I try to save the project after that, Camtasia immediately goes to "Not Responding" and just hangs there.

I have rebooted the computer, checked widows updates, and closed all unnecessary programs. No change in behavior.

My system is a few years old, but its still no slouch. Intel i9-10800f, 32gb of ram, 2070 Super,, project files are on a 2tb SSD (half full).

Any idea what could be causing the crashing? I just did a similar project last week and no issues.

I’ve been creating videos in Camtasia for a bit of time now, I use my iPhone 13 Pro Max for filming me (I’ve set this up within camtasia), my Universal Audio Standard SD-1 microphone for capturing my voice and that’s plugged into my Scarlet 2i 4. I’ve been doing shorter videos where I’m screen capturing crypto charts and I’ve been using the Brave browser for this.

Recently I’ve started doing a podcast with my buddy, we end up recording for around 30min to an hour, we’ve been doing this twice a week for a few weeks at this point with zero issues. We use a separate iPhone 13 Pro to capture his video alongside another Universal Audio SD-1 and we’re plugging that into the Scrlet 2i 4 as well, he airdrops his video to my Mac and then we sync that up.

My buddy wanted to have the ability to check his camera out before we start recording to make sure we’re getting a good angle, we didn’t want to buy a MagSafe mount to utilize Continuity so we did some researching and found a program called Camo, this gave us the ability to connect his iPhone to my MacBook Pro with a USB C to lighting cable, it was pretty simple, we just needed to download a few drivers. Today we filmed a 35min episode and when we went to sync everything up and the audio was really distorted, so we decided to restart everything and then go and record a quick session…we ended up filming an hour video instead and when we went to sync things up and edit we noticed the distortion was gone, but after we synced everything up and got to around 1 minute before we started noticing the audio was getting more and more out of sync.

This is literally the first time we’ve encountered this, has anyone experienced that? And if so, how did y’all fix this and what could be the cause?

The audio works when I click "preview" on the screen recording, but when I drag it to my timeline, suddenly no audio whatsoever. Christ almighty. Can I still get access to the raw recording file somewhere? This is an hour and half presentation that I have lost.

I am using Camtasia 8. On the timeline, each second is divided into 30 frames, allowing me to move the timeline pointer precisely within the video. Therefore, at a very specific frame, my logo should disappear. However, when I produced the video, I noticed my logo appearing on the next frame, which technically shouldn't be there. Could this be a glitch in Camtasia causing my logo to appear on the wrong frame?

I saw many tutorials to hide camtasia icon from the bar in the old versions of camtasia but I can’t find the option in the newer ones… I’m missing something? They removed it?

So I'm making this video about a civil war battle.

I have one minute of battle sound effects but only need 20 seconds. I'd like to move the other 40 seconds to a later part of the video. So I want to split that track, but then Camtasia splits everything: the video track and the narrative track.

Is there a way I can just do one track?

Wondering if anyone else has this issue: as I move the mouse pointer around in the application, the pointer doesn't always change properly. For example, if I trim a clip with the sideways bar arrow, then go to the Media bin to select something, the pointer is stuck as the sideways bar arrow instead of switching to a regular pointer. This is more than just annoying. It sometimes makes it hard to click or select things.

This also isn't a new issue. I had it with my Intel-based MacBook Pro with 8 gb, and the issue is still there now that I upgraded to an M2 Mac with 16 gb. So I can't be the only user dealing with this.

Hello! I need to create a GIF out of images. Is this possible to do in Camtasia? Anyone has instructions or a video tutorial? I searched but all I find are instructions to create a GIF out of a video. Help!

If I don't renew my maintenance and allow the 30-day renewal window to expire, do I lose the ability to renew at a later time? This information is not located anywhere on their site. I also get different answers when I talk to their support, like:

"You can renew later but the maintenance will expire on the same day next year as it did this year," "you will have to pay a penalty for letting it lapse," or " you have to buy a new license."

Does anyone know what the current policy is?

I have Camtasia 2023 and am still running OSX 13 - Ventura. I've got 2019 x64GB, and whenever I record my screen at 4k or any resolution, it significantly slows down my machine to the point where I can't use anything else. Often, I'm just hoping it won't crash because sometimes the recovery option doesn't even become available.

Why, Camtasia, why? What's with this high demand and lack of support for previous operating systems? I'd like to update to Sonoma, but I've heard and read so many horror stories that I'm hesitant to do so. In my opinion, a new OS won't change my life, and it'll likely bring more chaos than features, so why should I have to update just because of Camtasia?

Maybe we should all stop buying this product so they'll start listening to consumers. They're also removing the community section of their site, where the help has been great. Now, you have to submit a ticket, and who knows when they'll reply to an issue that could possibly be fixed in a few minutes with community help.

Their support model sucks. We shouldn't be forced to get a new version of the software every time there's a new OS. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues, or is it just me?

I created a project using the trial version of 2023 but since then acquired a license for the older version as I don't require some of the new functionality. I would love to not re-make the project all over again... Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am trying to find if there is a way to fix text to a parts of a video file so that it stays pointing to a specific thing in the clip even if that 'thing' is moving on the screen.

I have seen other platforms offer this and am hoping Camtasia can,, .. can anyone offer any advice or support please?

I am editing a video and so chopping up parts of it and re-arranging, etc. I am trying to find where you can just see the length of an edited clip, but it seems like the only way is to add it to the library and then view details? Rather awkward workaround (and means I have to remember to clean up the library after.

Is there a better way?

The removal of their community forums has me questioning if it's time to switch to a different video editing tool. I just like how easy to use but relatively powerful it is... but the updates this year seem to have hurt performance and introduced new bugs. And it's missing a few features that add time to the process.

I recently made the mistake of upgrading from the prior release of Camtasia 2023 to the latest release V23.4.3 and have not been able to generate proxy videos since. This issue is making it impossible for me to edit videos due to the lag (even with hardware acceleration enabled). I've raised a support ticket but they haven't provided any meaningful response trying to point the issue to something with my setup. The only thing that's changed in my workflow was the latest version. Anyone else experiencing the same?

I am looking for a good asset basis and am wondering if camtasia assets are good or not in terms of availability and variance?

Hi guys, I opened an unfinished project after some time and all the clips got way too bright. The clips itself are still normal before putting them into the timeline as you can see on the screenshot. When I add a new clip to the timeline it also appears too bright. I tried to use the color adjustment tool, but it doesn't setting everything on zero for example. Seems like there is a general problem with the project itself. Anyone knows how to fix it?
