Come join us in some rugby drama.
Have fun!
Hey there,
Im a Kiwi and I live in Burlington, Ontario. Ive just started entertaining the idea of trying to find a casual club that I could join this year to play some rugby. Was just wondering if people know of anything in the area? I see that there are a few bigger and more professional local clubs around that I could look into, however, I don't have the money to pay $500 for a season.
So I'm looking for something way more chill than that.
Any knowledge is definitely appreciated!
Thanks
Let’s say you were given a reasonable (or unlimited if you want) amount of money to create a professional Canadian league. How many teams would you have? What cities would they be in? What would the competition format be like?
Going along with the 8 centres of development RC talked about, I’d like to see the following:
The big cities would be obvious choices, and with Victoria island being so rugby popular I think Victoria would make sense having no other professional teams. Halifax also makes sense in a city without major sports and represents the Atlantic rugby community.
Weather would be a problem so I think the season would have to be super rugby length and start later in the year, around April or may.
Hey there! I've been interested in how eastern-heavy the Canadian teams typically are. Does anyone know how these players are selected and how a player from BC could get involved? Like what is the path to a national team or BC Provincial team?
If rugby Canada is serious about their goals here are some things I think they should do.
Since we lack facilities and programs right now. While we are developing these, RC should start profiling young talent and connecting them with high performance academies around the world. Almost like a scholarship.
With young adult talent. RC should offer clubs and Club Academies contract subsidies to entice professional clubs around the world to sign these players. Now we would have our talent being developed by the best.
I think this would streamline the process, while RC builds the programs and facilities needed here. Cause what RC needs to meet their goals in the next 4 years would take 20 years to accomplish.
Found this funny video on YouTube about Marcus Smith, would recommend checking it out!
What are your thoughts on this team...thing? I was trying to wrap my head around what they are trying to accomplish and I was just getting bad vibes from the whole thing. It just makes my scam radar go off for some reason. Hopefully I'm wrong. I want to be wrong. Please tell me I'm out to lunch on this.
With the dissolution of the arrows it’s good to see teams like this set up with the goal of developing Canadian players in mind. These are 4/10 games the highlanders plan to face, all look like they would provide a fierce challenge. We need more of this!
A researcher from Vancouver Island University (VIU) is currently interested in the effects of coaching on athlete's performance in sports. The researcher is looking for Canadian athletes aged 19 or older involved in a team or individual sports, who compete in competitions, have a coach, and are not out for injury. The survey will ask participants about their perceptions of their coaches and perceptions of themselves. The survey will examine the role of coaching in athletes' well-being and performance. The questionnaire will take approximately 20 minutes to complete using SurveyMonkey, accessible via the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/55WHXSN.
We have a Techno party this week while talking all things rugby from around the world. Goodluck.
I have two tickets for the upcoming Vancouver 7s tournament for sale. Wife and I unfortunately cannot make it to Vancouver as we are going back to South Africa on the 22nd.
Make a reasonable offer and the tickets are yours.
