So I love both of these cars my main issue is that neither have CarPlay and only have the cue system which so far I’ve heard nothing good about. I see that they’re ways to get CarPlay but all of them are either expensive (like 1.5k), seemingly difficult to install (I say seemingly cause it involves taking apart the globe box which I’ve never done but it looks complicated), or they just look either cheap or tacky (I’ve seen the Tesla screen mods and I think in concept that’s a really cool idea but I have yet to see one that has a ui that doesn’t look like it came out of a cheap mobile game). With all that being said would yall say the cue system is tolerable enough to put up with or would yall recommend some type of upgrade?
I have a 02 Deville Base curious has anyone here with/had this car try anything with their exhaust? And how did it affect your car? I’m thinking of straight piping and maybe a true dual exhaust because although I like how subtle the engine and exhaust is I am used to driving work trucks and muscle cars and like the sound and have seen some vids on how they sound with the straight pipe system but not enough to let me know what’s really up before I get to cutting around my pipes thanks in advance!
SPOILER: i am not going to be speaking fondly of this brand so just take this with a grain of salt
Hi everyone wanted to just talk about my experience owning a 2018 cadillac ats. Started with me losing my 01 firebird v6 to a transmission failure and looking for a new daily found a 2018 cadillac ats with 64k miles with the 2.0 ltg turbo at first everything was great took me a bit to warm up to it which led to problem one which i kinda figured was coming it started misfiring learned it was a ignition coil on a cylinder went and did the spark plugs and coils on all cylinders cause they were overdue. Sparks came out dry black on the electrodes and excused it as overran plugs and kept driving 4k miles and a spark plug change took it to a local cruise in and ran 93 octane which was recommended in the manual ran 88 octane from sheetz (live in ohio) to no issues second i ran 93 it started throwing codes for running lean and all sorts of issues the following monday it started misfiring even worse to learn that it had blew a piston ring on cylinder 2 and now 6 months of looking at it later and a few thousand lost to payments on this used pos its getting a replacement engine and sold. TLDR: bought a 2018 cadillac ats blew within 4k miles started with 64k and blew at 68k may never buy another cadillac again
Edit (forgot to mention these piece of shit ltg engines are known for carbon build up problems leading to piston failure unknown how the car was treated previous to me but was easy as hell on it and was religiously checking stuff over to make sure nothing was going wrong with it)
All the videos I’ve seen saying you have to get a drill and drill the broken piece with a hole and then dig it out. Is there any other more simpler way of getting the broken part of the old antenna out?
Pic of the car from when I baught it

Fiber optic light lamp monitor housing for a 1991 fleetwood Cadillac
Which do you recommend reliability wise
Just bought a XT-4 with 42,000 miles a few months ago. Just a week or so ago I started getting a creaking noise from both the RR and LR. Most noticeable at low speeds. I can bounce the rear and get it to creak. I sprayed all the bushings down with PB Blaster Lithium grease. Stopped it for a few days. Now it’s back. Anyone else have this problem? Dealer says they have never heard of this issue. At dealer now waiting for them to diagnose. $192/hr 😡
I have a 1999 Deville that I am very committed to keeping. My head gaskets have not yet blown, but I’m very aware that it’s a when not an if for my car. There’s one of my car at a local junk yard that I’ve been lightly cannibalizing small cosmetic that was put there, I’m almost sure, for a light side impact. I’ve been thinking it might be smart to snag its cylinder heads so that I’ve already got an un-warped pair ready to go when the inevitable happens. Is there a way for me to visually tell if the gaskets have gone and the heads are no good? I don’t mind having to take anything apart to see. Even if they’re bad, I’ve never been that deep into my car, so it’d be a fun, explorative, learning experience for me. I suppose I’ll also tack on that I know my car is essentially worthless, but I really like that car and I will not lay it down to rest until there is an unreasonable number on the odometer.
Recently (6mo/no warranty) purchased a 08 Cadillac CTS4 and as of two days ago during my daily commute up I85 my car has started to overheat while in traffic. To the point I had to pull off turn the car off and wait. Once I turned it back on check engine light came on. On my way back home it happens again but I realize if I keep my RPMs at least to 2500 the engine will immediately begin to cool down, and fast. I took it to AutoZone this evening and learned the code meant thermostat issues. I found a local shop that specializes in Cadillacs I plan on calling for a quote as it doesn’t seem like this is an easy fix
I was watching the sopranos the other night and I noticed a lot of the characters have Caddy’s. Also in Donnie brosco they talk about it. To me it seems like alot of the organized crime like these cars
Hi so I’m replacing the halogen bulbs in the reverse light for LED aftermarket 921 bulb but when I plug the bulb in to the socket the lights are on all the time. How would I go about just having them on when the car is turned on?
I picked up a 2009 Escalade this summer. No scratches or dents, 100k miles, and pristine interior. But... the stereo is lacking. Does anyone have a suggestion for a model I should look at?
Hey guys, for starters my grandfather has a 2006 STS with 92,000 on it and it’s been pretty well taken care of by him. Always up to date on everything, but recently we just don’t have the money to keep taking things to the shop , so I’ve been trying to be more handy helping him out. So I just got this sheet printed out from auto zone. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge as far as if the steering wheel angle sensor could cause the car to be “feeling” like it’s having trouble shifting. I say feeling because looking at the RPMs, everything looks fine, not shooting up, not wobbling between, but the car itself feels like it’s literally dubstepping down the road. On the highway it’s fine, but the local roads going between 20 and 40… it’s like slamming back and forth, even when I’m driving straight. Kinda sounds a little crunchy, and sometimes sounds like a bicycle chain when I’m stopping, but idk. What gets me is this just came out of nowhere, no signs or trouble, just bam. Kinda looking for some advice on what to do…or if it’s worth doing anything. Cars in great shape aside from this. *I did replace the gas cap for the emissions leak on here.
So I had "thermal event" as they called it that required 2 wiring harnesses, fuse box and few other things to be replaced. They even replaced portion of the carpet. It was bad and for the very little distance, like 2 miles I drove the car home the electrical smell was horrendous. My nose and eyes still bothered me for about 8-10 hours late.
Luckily I have a bumper to bumper CPO warranty so it was covered. They had the car for roughly 4 weeks. So what's not great is its been 3 weeks, the chemical cleaning product smell has dissipated and the electrical burn smell has returned albeit subtle especially compared to the way it was before.
I feel that it should be covered still because selling a car or simply the cars value is drastically reduced if it smells like electrical burning smell. What exactly covered though I don't know.
Anyone have a situation where a warranty item caused a subsequent issue? I am assuming if they don't remedy the smell it could be a breach of warranty case. Short of going to a lawyer I wanted to see what Reddit people have to say.
Thanks

Hey everyone I recently picked up my second car a 02 Deville I’ve had it for about a week and I’m loving it so far but I have some questions since I’m new to a car like this and don’t want to screw it up lmao.
I’ve been thinking about putting in starlights in the headliner but I want to do the job myself and I do not see a clear way of taking down the headliner so if anyone knows how to do that please share!
My radio does not work because of GM anti theft system I plan on getting a new radio installed one of the newer touch screen CarPlay ones and I’m wondering if there’s a way I could temporarily fix the radio until then because the radio install is about $515 and would the radio still be locked up if I switch it out?
Cosmetically I’ve been looking into a straight pipe system to give it a nice sound but not make it obnoxious teenager loud and maybe some tips too if anyone has some suggestions that they have tried I’ll be glad to be open minded.
Any feedback is appreciated thanks in advance!
I have a short somewhere on my 82 Eldorado HT4100 and was looking for it Monday when randomly my low battery light came on. I let it run for like 30 minutes and went to bed. The battery was as dead the next morning. I tried to jump start it but not even the interior lights would come on. So I took the battery out and let it charge fully. I then put it back in and it drained to dead in less than a minute. I believe one of the wires I fiddled around with near the battery/alternator/starter areo might have the short. I am heavily inexperienced with electrical systems and would like to hear yall's advice.
Hoping someone has ran into this one.
I'm replacing my wheel hub bearing assembly and the old nut (left -factory) was staked as per service manual.
The new nut(right) doesn't have the same plain collar and the thread runs all the way to the top and looks thicker. Am I supposed to still stake it?
Parked it in the barn last week and did not pay attention to the ignition not shutting all the way off. Went to drive it this week and battery was dead and key stuck. Charged battery but key wont budge and nothing works. Tried the under steering wheel hole with a pen/screwdriver to no avail. Not really feeling anything under there.
Whats next? has to be something simple.
