Hi CRF forum,
I have to ride the CRF 300 rally sometimes on the highway 1h or so.
I usually do 115 km/h or 72 mph
but if I get distracted or there is a little downslope the bike can go a little over 120km/h | 78 mph and the white led starts to blink at 7k rpm.
my question is if this is doable , to overtake , etc, or I should avoid this happening, the dealer told me just to avoid the red dashboard zone (wich is way farther).
But sometimes being able to go over 130km/h | 80mph momentarily and not doing it feels a little bad
What would you advise to do ?
So I know that with some KTM bikes you can swap the transmission components to change the ratios in the trans, I'm wondering if the same is true for the crf250 I have a 2014 crf250r and need different ratios for the type of riding I do. Even if no one knows if it's possible if anyone has measurements that would be helpful in figuring this out it would be much appreciated.
Looking at used bikes, as a novice its difficult to distinguish.
Are there any obvious visual details to look for apart from a sticker to determine a X model?
Is there possibly a in-depth side by side specification and pros/cons between the F and X models, like gear ratios for each gear and intention behind the specific choices? Differences in shock rebound/high,low compression speed settings/spring rates etc. Differences between other defining details that makes a X an X VS a F?
Until recently the X has been carbureted? Is this accurate, what year did the X models changeover to a FI system ~2019?
Is the X version a lower production yield model typically?
Anyone that trail rides can tell me why a person would choose one model over another in respect to the tweaks and features that are on one model over another if strictly using a bike for trails, and possibly how significant those changes are to making a bike better suited on a trail over using a "race bike model" for trails and dealing with or adapting to a F on a trail?
I have a 2004 crf150f that was ridden with no crankcase oil. I was not there when it happened but it does run and sounds terrible, (with oil). The piston did not seize up as far as I can tell. With the choke on, it runs rough and loud, and after it warms up I unchoked it and it gets EXTREMELY loud and rough, feels like a hammer beating on the carb through the choke lever. I'm guessing it's back pressure from the cylinder. I took the valve cover off and found both lifter bearings bad, (don't know which is intake/exhaust). The one on the right, brake side, the needle bearings are locked up. The one one the left, shifter side, all the needle bearings are missing and the outer bearing race is out of round and thin is places. I know this is going to be an engine teardown but I was hoping to get some helpful advice and answers. Anyone here experience this problem and do you think this is a lost cause? Are the missing needle bearings in the gearbox or is there a separation in the crank case? I haven't taken the clutch side cover off yet to check the filter screen for them. I'd like to fix this engine if it's economical. From a bit of looking, a used engine isn't cheap. Thanks for any and all advice.
Was riding when it got stuck in third gear. wouldn't shift no matter what I did. The shifter doesn't move at all. I took the clutch cover off and everything looks perfectly fine. Cleaned up some minor grooves on the basket but that was the only sign of wear. I got it to where I could shift it through all of the gears with my hand by pushing the spindle up and down. Thought everything was fixed, put the cover back on, and still having the same problem. I'm thinking that it could be a bent shift fork but I'm hoping to get some input before i tear into it any further.
Hey there I’m looking for recommendations on a aftermarket fuel screw from a 2008 Honda crf230f.
I’m looking to get a new bike but can’t decide between the 450RL or the 300L the waiting list is 3 months for the 450RL here and it’s double the price of the 300L I used to have a 250L but wasn’t that keen on it as I felt it lacked power, I won’t be doing any off roading mainly country lanes and city driving, I’m quite a big guy at 110kg so need something that can move with my weight what bike do you think will suit me best ?
Im thinking that jets are clogged, but I dint wanna pull the entire carb, just seeing if anyone has any ideas before I go through pulling the whole carb, people who own 250 r will know what i mean.
Is it possible. Can i convert my 2004 crf250r to be fuel injected?
Does anyone have a right tank shroud for a 2009 Crf 230l?
I have a small 100cc 2007 Honda bike and I have always wondered how much gas it uses. It only has a 5.5L tank and I never wanted to go to far on it for fear of running out. Yesterday, after filling it full I went and did about 30km on it. When I got back I filled a 1.5L can of gas and poured it into my tank and it was full! To do 30km at about 70km/h the whole way I used 1 1/2 litres. I hope this information is useful to you, it sure was to me.
Hey guys i have a 2010 CRF250r. I recently just put new clutch plates in although whenever i go to shift into gear the bike grinds for a second during the shifting process and then goes fine. This happens with all the gears. I’m hoping it’s just a misadjusted clutch. Any help is greatly appreciated
How long does the CRF150R run for (on a full tank of gas) if you are doing less aggressive riding
I'm looking at a 06 CRF230F and 09 CRF450R. I know, two totally different class bikes. The 230 looks well used but in good condition, and the 450 looks used but really clean. It does have a black fender which raises questions. It also doesn't run ("can't get it started"). Asking $500 for the 230 and $2000 for the 450.
I've been wanting a 450 for a long time (motard racing) but I feel it's a bit impractical for my use. I'm more into pitbike yard racing and occasional field and woods rides. Maybe an off-road park every once in a while. This has me leaning towards the 230 more. 1. it runs 2. it's cheaper 3. Honda tough 4. more suited to my needs 5. easier to huck around the yard
If I believe the 450 owner just doesn't know how to start it and can talk them down, I'll buy that. But for the price and overall fun, I'm liking the 230. A light kit and it'll be a pretty cool bike.
Help me decide!
I’ve been riding for about a season and my current bike isn’t cutting it. I’m looking into getting a new bike primarily for trail riding. Is the CRF150 a good choice or are there better options? Also what are the differences in trim models? I am 5’1” and about 100lbs, I currently ride a CRF100 and it just doesn’t have enough power to get over some hills. I’m looking for bikes in the rage of a seat height of 32 - 36 inches. (Something I can grow into a little bit something that isn’t too big) If anyone is near Concord, NH, USA and selling bikes, lmk
Hey guys,
I'm working on a 2008 CRF150R. If I start the bike, put it in any gear, and roll it backwards; the clutch loses all tension.
The cable and lever are free, but the clutch actuator that goes into the left case won't freely move back & forth.
I've replaced the actuator and the pushrod, but the issue is still there.
Any ideas?
