Jimmy In-N-Out?

I'm rewatching the series for the first time in years and I've just finished S2 E8. I may have forgotten some details that happened afterwards, but presumably it transpires at some point that this guy is not actually Heisenberg. Saul does seem to imply that there will be complications at his trial. So, if the charges got dropped due to lack of evidence, what happened? Why didn't Hank think to investigate him further with the whole Gus Fring thing. Or why didn't they go after Badger for obstructing justice?

What if Jack's crew kidnapped Andrea and Brock?

It's admittedly a bit of an unrealistic scenario, given that they have little to gang out of that arrangement. If they had kidnapped Andrea and Brock to keep Jesse in line instead of simply killing her, then they would undoubtedly be drawing unwanted attention to themselves. A missing persons report will be issued to the D.E.A. which is the exact opposite of what they want, given the fact that they're running a massive drug operation. Regardless, if Jack's gang decided to hold the mother and the boy hostage then they'd receive just about the same treatment as Jesse has received if not worse since Andrea's a woman. I don't think I have to elaborate further on that. Let's just say, they'd endure some unspeakable things while in captivity. Walt's still going to arrive at the compound with the intent of murdering Jack and his band of Neo-Nazis. Assuming he does just that and the only ones left alive are Jack, Andrea, and Brock, what happens next?

Do the three of them go on the run? Highly unlikely. She's only dated Jesse for what I presume to be a few months at best. He's a fugitive on the run now, her little brother was killed Jesse couldn't keep his mouth shut, and her son was poisoned because Jesse's partner in crime needed a pawn in order to topple a tyrannical king. Because of him, she, along with her son was kidnapped where they endured months of torture, and to top it all off, he didn't really love her. She was just the rebound for him to get over his ex which he never did. There is a possibility that they might stick together since victims often trauma bond over shared experiences but again, I'd be a bit skeptical about that. Maybe he drives her and Brock home or more likely, to the nearest local hospital. Although, once she's in the system, the authorities are going to have questions for her. Mainly where she's been this whole time since she was reported missing a few months back. Would she tell them the truth and turn Jesse in? Give them half-truths and tell them she and her son were kidnapped but leave Jesse's name out of it?

Jesse’s Parents Weren’t Wrong

I see a lot of people hating on Jesse’s parents for kicking him out

I’d like to say something about that. I think that’s a bit unfair. At the point of the story that they kick him out, Jesse has been involved in at least 2 murders, and was attempting to do something highly illegal (drug selling)

People like to compare him to Jane, in how her father didn’t kick her out. But, I have to say this again, Jane has not been involved with killing anybody, and she’s not peddling illegal drugs to people on the street

Now, I suppose a counter to this is that they didn’t actually know that was going on in Jesse’s life, which means that even if kicking him out for what he’s done would be fair, they’re not kicking him out for those reasons because they don’t know about that. Maybe they’re just really strict, which is annoying

But, I’m a little tired of nobody presenting the view that “Those parents kicked out a murderer and a drug dealer.”

I don’t know, though. What are your thoughts?

Regarding color theory, what is the significance of Walt and Saul's outfits in their encounter in the high school?

When Saul comes to Walt's school, he is wearing a yellow shirt and a purple tie. Walt is wearing a red shirt, which is rare for him. We don't often see Walt in red. Meanwhile, we see purple worn by Marie and yellow worn by Jesse. I am wondering if anyone had these thoughts while rewatching.

Who is the scummiest person in BB or BCS that never gets their comeuppance?

My best guess is Huell, as nothing sticks to him in either series

jesse was bad for jane not the other way around (a rant)

ok so i’m about halfway through season 3 for my rewatch of the show, but i’ve noticed there’s a lot of jane hate online and saying she was “bad for jesse” which is the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever heard. not to mention that some people (aka men) will literally argue that walter letting her die was for the best as if her father wasn’t going to literally take her to rehab the next day. i actually see a lot of myself in jane and people will act like jane only liked jesse for his money. but i don’t think she realized he was rich at all in the beginning, she was genuinely interested in him based on his personality. jesse is definitely not the smartest person but he is charming and cute. jane was on the path to living a great life she clean, she had a decent job, and she seems to be close with her family. jesse is the opposite, he’s a criminal, a junkie, and his parents have cut him out of their lives. jane choosing to get close to jesse was a huge mistake on her part, not because he’s kind of an idiot but because of the fact he was a junkie and a drug dealer. i think that jane saw an aspect of her previous self in jesse and was attracted to him but wasn’t looking to commit. and honestly why would she? jesse was cooking meth! it’s very dangerous to be involved with someone let alone date someone like that. this is why she acts distant when he meets her dad. but she ultimately fell for him, and that ultimately caved into going back to her old habits because of it. jane ultimately does end up introducing jesse to heroin, but that only lasts a few episodes. jesse does end up missing the big deal with gus because of it, and so walt misses the birth of his daughter. janes father not forcing her to go to rehab the day he discovered she “backslid” was his mistake. jane blackmails walt and gets the money that night people act like her wanting to use the money was some sort of crazy act. she literally convinced walter to give them the money, that was her plan. and to be fair she was not in the correct mindset with any of this and she shouldn’t have let jesse stay there in the first place, however i definitely understand where she was coming from. walt ultimately let’s her die because he’s a shitty person and has no sympathy for her whatsoever, pride driving motive in everything he does. letting a woman who damaged his reputation even slightly die because of his ego is so walt. the more i watch breaking bad the more i hate walt and the more i enjoy watching him suffer. overall jesse is lucky, jane was one of the few decent things that happened to him in this entire show. he’s tortured for most of it but jane letting him stay in the apartment, sleeping with him, being emotional and moral support, helping him get that money from walt, trying to get him clean, and ultimately trying to save him led to her demise. i would say there’s a lesson to be learned here and that’s to not fall in love with a bum loser meth head. she should’ve kicked him out the second he didn’t agree to his rent contract, she should’ve kicked him out the moment she realized he was a meth dealer. she definitely shouldn’t have slept with him, but i understand why she did. jesse ultimately dragged her down with him, which i guess is what happens when you try to help a bum like him. you can’t save people who don’t want to be saved, and trying will only cause you pain.

Mental illness representation

Obviously theres an overt theme of physical illness/ disability in the show. Walter jr.s disability, walts cancer, hanks paralysis etc. I think the show, however, has a covert theme of showing different characters and their mental illness. after all, who in their right mind gets into the meth business without being a little off?

Heres what i think:

Jesse: Bipolar disorder. I havent seen this discourse yet, and this clearly is emphasized with his drug addiction but you see jesse go from manic to depressed states throughout the show. This is probably why he had a hard time in school, this paired with some ADHD symptoms and why he was so vulnerable to addiction. Obviously by the end he had major PTSD from being enslaved and seeing everyone he loves die

Walter Narcissist Disorder Ive seen some arguments against this since he was a quiet high school teacher who wouldnt hurt a fly. But i think he had a level of covert narcissism, he left Gray Matter because his ego was too big. Throughout the whole series his biggest reason for not wanting to get caught was because he didnt want his image to be ruined. Once skylar saw the worst sode of him he became his true self, since it wasnt going to get worse. Once hank and marie saw who he was, he threatened them and no longer cared about them. He wanted them to see his power. This was because he never cared about getting imprisoned, but rather his reputation.

Todd: ASPD. I wouldn’t be able to say whether psychopath or sociopath, but definitely ASPD. He is absolutely incapable of empathizing. He has no intention of hurting people but also doesnt care if he does. He masks as a nice guy because thats what he thinks will get him far. He blindly will follow others instructions and he’s extremely loyal. He almost doesnt have a self sense of direction or purpose, he doesnt really care about life either way

Marie OCD- this one is obvious with the purple and the shoplifting

Lydia Also OCD with psychopathic traits, same tea order. Obsessed with image. Doesnt care about killing others for her sake, but doesnt want to watch it happen

Any else you can think of?

Monologues

Hey guys! Super big fan of BB and I am also in speech and debate. Does anyone have the transcripts to some monologues that some characters do? I'm thinking Mike's one, Jesse has a few, or just any instance where one character is speaking for a long time hopefully emotionally. I have to collect enough for me to convert into a 7-10 minute piece. Does anyone have any ideas? Or any transcripts? I don't feel like going through each episode manually to write down the monologue. (And preferably season 4 or below because I'm currently on season 5, but I've already been spoiled so Idc)

Questions about Season 3 Finale

At the end of the season 3 finale “Full Measure”, Walt, knowing he is about to be killed in the superlab, begs Mike to let him talk to Gus. He says something along the lines of “I know I can make him understand,” before raising his voice and pleading for dear life.

However at this point, Walt was picked up on his way to kill Gale, to ensure both his and Jesse’s lives are spared. So how would talking to Gus really have helped him at all in this situation?

“Hey Gus, I know you’re planning to kill me tonight, but do you mind giving me a day’s head start, just to even things out?”

Also as a bonus: HOW exactly what Walt going to kill Gale? We don’t see him with a weapon of ANY kind before Victor pulls up in his driveway. Was he just going to waltz over to Juan Tabo (pun intended) and beat him to death?

Minute 21 | Season 4 Episode 7

It's written "adobado" in spanish... (I can't send a picture with my phone's cam, is currently broken).

My dad and I looked very close to the menu platters at the background and DAMNED that's bad. Maybe it was done on purpose for some reason? I don't know.

Hector's communication limits

Why did they decide no ding meant no for Hector? That made it harder to tell if he meant no or just refused to answer, which he often did. It couldn't have just been two dings meaning no? While maybe they did, they should have different meanings for many different amounts of dings, rather than just being able to say yes.

One of the most disturbing aspects of the show

One thing I find most disturbing about the whole breaking bad universe is how people die.

One is dragged to a desert, or lab, like a cow led to a slaughter house. One is left in the dark about the whole matter. You can only guess.

Then, you are killed off and disposed of in a barrel of acid or buried somewhere forever unknown. Your final view being the figures of your assailants.

No final goodbyes to your friends or family. They will never know what happened to you. They can only guess. No closure, no nothing, you drop off from the face of the earth as though you were never there to begin with. Worse, the family you left behind could also be killed.

If this doesn't serve as enough of a deterrent from such a life, I don't know what will. The case of Werner, in particular, pops in mind. He only had one foot into the lifestyle. Most of his life was in the civilian world.

Crawl Space - Gus surely cannot kill Hank?

Hank was the one raising all of the suspicions against Gus… if he just suddenly dies then that solves nothing, it merely will make the DEA - rather than Hank individually - extremely suspicious of Gus.

The only logical alibi I can find is what Saul said: ‘I’ll say it’s the cartel and that they’ve come back to finish the job.’

But I doubt that will remove all suspicion.

Walt & Jack

When Walt was in hiding, he had already lost everything, so there was no reason to keep his & other peoples criminal activities secretive anymore. Jack had just murdered his brother in law and stole most of his money, why didnt Walt just call the DEA and tell them exactly what happened?

The DEA could have gone to the crime scene and found casings, tire tracks ect, and could have gotten a warrant to search Jacks complex. Walt mentioned to Saul about hiring hitmen, but that didn’t workout. His plan in the finale was ambitious. At least this way, he could have gotten them locked up.

About Mexico Being Yellow

It feels like a stylistic choice for Vince Gilligan, but now a bunch of media has copied it and it comes off as cliche now. Breaking Bad ends up getting mocked by association.

Just got my mom and step dad to watch for the first time.

As someone who’s just recently finished breaking bad for the first time by what point do you think they we’ll need to get to to be locked in for the rest of the show for me it was when Walter first confronted Tuco and blew up his place with the fake meth bag.

Upon a rewatch of Breaking Bad I'd argue Jesse was responsible for most of Walt's problems.

Now, before I start this post, I want to preface this by saying, I don't believe Walter White is blameless. Realistically speaking, he should've swallowed his pride and taken the job at Gray Matter. However, once he is involved in the game, Jesse is responsible for almost everything that goes wrong with him and Walt.

Walt partners with Jesse, and on the first day on the job, he unwittingly leads two armed psychopaths out to kill Walt. Walt saved Jesse from Krazy-8 and Emilio, and then Tuco too. Then despite Walt's constant warning, Jesse gets in bed with some junkie bitch. And Walt letting Jane die did have negative effects in the grander scheme of things, but this was out of Walt's great loyalty for Jesse that he let her die, because face facts, Jane would've eventually died anyways, likely after killing Pinkman for his money and drugs. After this Walt partners with Gus, and Jesse immediately fucks things up by getting pissy about the two dealers who shot Combo. Now, from a moral perspective they shouldn't've shot Combo, but in the drug game, the game they knew they were in, this is what happens when you encroach on foreign turf. Now as a result of Jesse, Gus is threatening to kill Walt's family because he thinks Walt is responsible for the internal strife. So Walt kills Gus, saving Jesse's ungrateful ass AGAIN.

They continue to work together until the Drew Sharpe incident, which they decide is a retiring point for all of them. Then Walt kills Mike which is presumably a bad thing, even though Mike was a callous, murdering scumbag no better than Walt, arguably worse since he'd been in the game longer and was more often than not the direct executioner. Then what does Jesse do? Betrays Walt. Again.

Jesse starts working with the DEA, since Hank knows that Walt is Heisenberg, and at long last Walt's patience finally runs out, and he puts a hit out on Jesse. Not even out of malice or anger, but because it's the only way of keeping his family safe at this point. Anyway, despite all the shit Jesse puts Walt through, Walt in the finale still rescues Jesse and apologises to him. Jesse drives away laughing, while Walt dies alone on the floor of a meth lab, his entire family despising him after he put himself in harm's way to provide for them as best he could.

And you mean to tell me Walt's the villain, and Jesse is this blameless do-gooder? I call horseshit.
