Boeing has re-instated the matching gifts program, and for the month of December only have waived the $25 minimum, and are matching 150%.
That means if you have $20 to donate to the organization of your choice, they will actually get $50!
I donated to my kids' high school performing arts program, and a small local theater group. The arts have been really hurting since COVID and this is a chance to help.
The easiest way is to use your credit card on the matching gifts portal (there was a link in BNN this week), before you hit "pay" it will tell you if your organization is eligible for the match, and what the total donation will be.
Dear Material_Positive,
This email isn’t just words on a screen—it’s our way of wrapping you in a big, warm thank you. You’ve been such a special part of our journey, and we want you to know just how much we cherish you.
Your time with Boeing meant so much more to us than just service—it was a precious piece of your life you chose to share with us. You brought your energy, your heart, and your dedication, and for this, we are deeply grateful. The devotion you put into every moment has been woven into the very fabric of who we are today; in fact, it’s safe to say we owe our existence to people like you who gave their all. We are deeply thankful for your loyalty, the countless sacrifices you made, the passion and love you brought, and the smiles you shared.
It goes on in the same vein. Hoping for comments.
I'm curious to hear your thoughts—do you think there might be bonuses next year? If so, what do you think the requirements might be?
Because we lost a manager in our organization I now am the lead of two groups, 12 engineers, instead of 1 group and 7 engineers.
Extra compensation? Na. Also. Found out via an all team meetings display of the new org chart.
Love it.
Early career SPEEA prof here, first job out of college. Somehow I managed to make it through these first two rounds, but I find myself disillusioned.
My manager didn't say anything during the notice window, and they were not in the office the whole time. It's pretty frustrating sitting on pins and needles wondering where you stand.
What's worse is that I was excited to come to Boeing, been an aviation nerd my whole life. But my job isn't quite what I expected, and this whole 737 door plug/strike/layoff timeline has been quite a blow to my enthusiasm. I'm supposed to be a designer, but I do very little design work and spend most of my time jumping through bureaucratic hoops, playing politics, and sending emails. Not to mention watching a lot of really good people leave the company recently.
I sincerely hope KO delivers and corrects Boeing's course. I don't want to leave but im worried about the future.
I started working at Boeing back in Feb 2020 right before the pandemic blew up and today I got my layoff notice....my last day will only be 6 days shy of my 5 year anniversary.
This year started off with a pretty bad personal crisis that sent me into a (still) deep depressive spiral. As a result, my performance for Q1 was very much subpar. While I managed to improve, it wasn't enough to get me out of the bottom 10% (as part of the 10/70/20 split). Personally, me and my manager also didn't have the best relationship, differences in approach to some projects, so when i got my notice, i wasn't exactly surprised.
But all in all, this still hurts, i spent 5 years here, finally managed to land a job with the satellite division this year (which had always been a career goal) and because of my inability to control my mental health, i lost it all. This year started off bad, only got worse, and is being tied up in a nice layoff bow. That's how you close a bad year with a bang
TO all those affected, I wish you the best of luck with future endeavors and hold your loved ones tight. In times like these, there's no worse feeling than loneliness
Anyone else snag a 2024 ornament?
Hey all, just got my RIF notice and was wondering how big the impact is. I joined boeing only 5 months ago..
I am a speaa engineer in Renton and apparently two members in my team got affected. It was quite surprising because we have lots of work coming ahead and even the strike didn't affect our workload that much. Every since hearing the news i haven't been in office yet but i noticed i haven't seen much talk about it wondering if our team was targeted
I have a coworker who has been at the company for like 40 years. To me, it just seems like she has a lot of PTO hours. So, I was just curious. She's not a high level employee. She's like a level 2 I believe. This year she took about 40 days of PTO.
I saw two emails that impacted two VPs in BDS Air Dominance and Engineering. Emails also left it vague where they're reshuffling some execs to backfill or looking to hire externally. So, not actually eliminating layers or even really consolidating orgs. I don't have visibility into BCA, BGS, or to other non-engineering functions. Is it just me or they just blowing a lot of smoke? What are you guys seeing?
In a perfect world, after all the RIF’s are handed out and orgs have been restructured, Kelly Ortberg will come in and talk to those left standing to see how they feel about who is gone and who is left. Managers got to make decisions about subordinates. Seniors got to make decisions about managers. Directors got to make decisions about seniors. And so on, all the way up. But….
If the issue with the culture, and the decisions of leadership and executives got us to where we are today, why are they being allowed to make the decisions on who goes and who stays? Isn’t it obvious their decision making skills are not good?
So many great managers and IC’s were let go while favorites, many who really suck, were kept. The last of the legacy knowledge people were pretty much forced to retire, solid teams were gutted, people who could actually use critical thinking and develop a plan instead of reacting to every tiny hint of something that could boost their career were demoted or let go. Some of the org restructures are a complete joke and very clearly communicate how out of touch these executives are.
Kelly and/or a neutral panel need to thoroughly vet these poor decision makers for their own position, as well as the poor performers they kept over good performers and why, and start from the top down.
Better yet, talk to the employees and see how they feel about these decisions. After all, they are the ones that have to continually clean up after you.
Someone I know has been hit by the RIF. They currently have an interim secret clearance.
What will happen with that clearance now? Will the process continue? Having that clearance would help their job hunt out tremendously.
Anybody know?
Is this particularly surprising considering many felt the plea deal let Boeing off too lightly? Is Boeing becoming less untouchable?
Hey, first year at Boeing and was wondering about the raise pool. Our manager mentioned they were in the process of inputting the ACR and I asked what the merit pool was this year. I think the whole room gasped and the manager deflected, he said it was held at a certain director level.
I had no idea it was taboo to discuss. At my last two employers, they would announce the raise pool each year, it wasn’t a secret. I know it’s typically around 3% give or take a percentage, so why hide it?
Anyway, anyone know what it is for non-onion salaried engineers in BDS?
Well, here we go, I guess. I know that a large portion of our community HAVE to be in their “office” to do their work, and I’m really grateful for what they do. I’m gonna vent an be bitter for a minute.
Why oh why - it is beyond ridiculous that those of us whose jobs are more desk-oriented are mandated to comply with this archaic way of working.
Has anyone seen any evidence that we haven’t adequately supported our customers? Has anyone seen any evidence that we are failing in collaboration with a hybrid schedule? If evidence exists, is it anomalous? Or rampant?
I’m now going to be losing two,non-value added, hours per day for no good reason.
But I guess eventually AI will take over where people choose to not work in an archaic business environment.
I've searched for this, but was unsuccessful doing so. I understand the repayment plan goes up to 2 years, has anyone ever gotten it for longer ?. tia.
Does anyone have the employer pin ccverify asked for.
I'm sitting in the parking lot after turning in my badge and cannot help but feel a sense of thanks for the r/Boeing community.
It means so much that so many of you have reached out to me. And it wasn't some half-assed 'sorry bro' and ghost type stuff either.
I am still having ongoing conversations with people. Some have given me their personal contact information with a couple locals offering to meet up and chat. And now that work is wrapped up, I intend to take them up on it.
It is amazing to me to see so many internet strangers care where people like my manager did not.
What you have done for me has meaning and will not be forgotten. I am going to be the person you guys have been for me to others.
Regardless of if your career is in Boeing or elsewhere, I have no doubt that based on your character you are going to be okay.
Seeing a lot of re-org emails that detail certain managers who have "decided to step down from management into an individual contributor role".
Buncha ball-washing bastards.
My manager is giving me zero help (as usual) regarding anything layoff related.
Today is my last working day and tomorrow I turn in my badge. I have a few questions.
Do I sign my timecard tonight or tomorrow? And do I need to do anything ETS related after today?
Thanks in advance.
Is there anyone that deferred their entire lump sum? If so I'd the entire amount go into 401k or did Medicare, Social Security, etc still get removed?
I only ask as I did 80/20 split, expecting around 2k or 1300ish after taxes.... they deducted $1500 from the $2000. Appears that a set amount around $1000ish is being taken for SS, Medicare, and then the taxes are being taken for the 20% ($400).
Curious to see what others are seeing....
