This year Iām taking a final on the autonomies of Spain and am currently studying the Independence movements (Catalonia, Basque). I donāt have any strong opinions on these things, as Iām just starting out but from what Iāve read so far, there is no official framework within the movements, explaining how, in the unlikely case of being granted full independence, Catalonia and Basque would proceed. I gather that thereās a lot of challenges, especially when it comes to the EU membership (or lack thereof). What is the point in the protests and demonstrations if there is no plan yet, so to say? Especially with the support for Independence being so low in the polls, wouldnāt it convince more people/make the movement look more serious if they did have some concrete ideas?
Kaixo šļø, I want to learn Basque seriously, I do not speak Spanish or French. Is there anyone who can help me?

Hello and greetings from Greece. As the title says I'm visiting San Sebastian on Thursday. My purpose was to watch Sociedad Vs PAOK with greek fans but I couldn't find any tickets but I had booked flights and accommodation. So I was wondering if it's safe to watch the game in a bar or a pub even if it's full of Sociedad fans. I will be there with two friends. Should we keep silent if there's a goal or a big chance for our team? I don't mean to be aggressive or to make other people angry. I'm sorry if this post shouldn't be here. I will be waiting for your answers!
Iāve been to Rioja several times but thinking of skipping the 3 hour round trip drive next time to just buy some bottles in town instead. Iāve seen Vina Tondonia and other Rioja wines at super Amara San Martin. Are there other wine shops that carry great gran reservas like Remelluri and others?

Hola,
Kaixo!
I moved to the Basque Country 3 months ago and my native language is English. I got admitted into a local ikastola here and I'm mesmerized because the teachers and students are very welcoming and humble. They are helping me enough to learn this beautiful language but still I'm totally lost as I don't have much exposure to this language, Hell I don't even speak Spanish. I'm currently at 9th grade and I think not learning basque rapidly would hamper my studies, so I'm willing to learn Euskal Hizkunta ASAP. Can you guys please help me with resources to start from? I know basic phrases like Kaixo, egun on and can introduce myself or understand basic conversations but My vocabulary is terrible and I need to repeat Nola esaten da insert random English word euskaraz and I don't want to annoy my friends or teachers. So please help me to get started, I'm genuinely willing to learn it because the language seems interesting. For added context, I speak English, Bengali, Hindi/Urdu, A little bit of Arabic but honestly speaking, they are nowhere near my level of English lol. So yeah please comment basque language resources, basque culture infos, Vocabulary for beginners, Basque rock/Indie music names and anything euskaldun.
Eskerrik Asko Lagunak!
Hello, for a while I have been curious about if I'm basque. My last name is Garnica, which isn't a very common last name. I know that there is a city in Basque Country called Guernikka, and I wonder if I have ancestors from that area. For context, my father is Mexican and his family is very white/mestizo, and I know a lot of Spanish people moved to Mexico a few centuries ago. I've also had the pleasure of visiting Spain in the summer, including Bilbao, Pamplona, and Guernikka. It is a very beautiful area and the culture is so rich :)
Hey there, I've been looking for a few folks who speak Galcian or Basque for a quick task on the community platform I run - Populii. If you know anyone who is native to those languages interested in earning some money for a quick easy task, have them reach out:Ā jessie@populii.ai. I know Reddit is full of spam and I promise this is not spam! Here is more about the project for our client:Ā http://unbouncepages.com/populii-orion/Ā Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Hello,
I have had an interest in Basque culture for a few years now (thanks to exposure to Ze Esatek!), and would like to learn more about modern-day Basque practices and traditions. Are there any well-recommended books out there which I can look to?
I see that this is primarily a subreddit for Euskara, and learning it is a stretch goal (which, I wonāt lie, looks intimidating but Iām up to the challenge), but I also saw that it was the most populous Basque-centered sub so I figured this would be the best place to ask.
My apologies if this is not the case, and I would welcome any direction to a better channel.
Thanks very much for your time.
Older nations and kingdoms tend to be hit or miss with modern people's. I'm curious if there's either a sense of nostalgia or hatred towards the Kingdom of Navarre 824-1841.
Figured I'd share this album I found on Bandcamp, black metal is my absolute favorite genre of music because artists in the scene really show love for their heritages by performing their music in their native tongues which unfortunately most genres just opt for English instead. Also I've been using this album to study how to actually speak Basque. I'm a bit disappointed by a lot of the online material as they're either not very user friendly or are in Spanish which I despite being heavily of Hispanic descent, do not speak.
I've been learning about Basque history to get in touch with my heritage and found that Spain seems to have really fucked the Basque people over consistently. Is there an independence movement like there is in Catalonia? Because the history especially the era under Fransisco Franco is absolutely horrid so I really wouldn't be surprised if some if not most Basques are unsatisfied being under the Spanish crown.
