I’m a musical theatre singer and I want to take lessons in this area. I actually live more in Westchester around LAX but there’s nothing going on there so can someone recommend a place please?
Traveling by myself (25m ) looking for a wild trip clubs women drugs where do you guys recommend me going ?
I grew up eating greek style pizza, its just a better crust and dough imo, and was wondering if anyone knew where to get some?
Where is the best place to get soft serve ice cream?
Anywhere in LA, OC, the valley, etc. I’m willing to drive for a quality softserve cone.
I’m doing terribly. I hardly exist. Not really able to do for myself properly, but not an invalid.
looking for someone with firsthand experience or knows someone who was admitted, rather than just listings
I’ve looked at reviews of places, but it’s hard to know what is genuinely a first-rate place.
-well-staffed, high client-to-worker ratio
Bonus
-fireplace in bedroom/bathroom (my body perpetually runs cold)
I can claim substance abuse if I need to (alcohol), but I’m primarily struggling with mental health, PTSD, OCD, and other comorbidities.
Questions? (Just the name would be good too, you needn’t answer the following)
Website? How long was the stay? Any out of pocket cost? Pros? Cons? Anything to know about first day of admittance? First week? Departure?
I already know about the summer internships at the movie studios (Sony, Fox, Universal). Any other suggestions for summer internships in LA to apply to? It's for an out-of-state college sophomore (business major) wanting to get some experience.
Noticed cute 4 foot real trees at Whole Foods but no decorations on them
A gorgeous dried arrangement around same size at gelsons but it was $375
Anyone see anything really pretty that is mostly predone? Prefer to avoid full size tree but not tiny either. The 4 fish seemed like a nice size
Anyone notice anything nice out there that is minimal work?
Worse comes to worse I’ll get the Whole Foods one and buy a decoration kit on Amazon but would prefer to avoid
Thx!
Whats the biggest Trader Joes youve been to? Want to see if theres bigger ones with more options?
Thank you
Hi, I'm 27 M and live in westchester. Any bars or social places to grab a drink a practice my spanish? I know the basics but want to be able to practice conversation. Thanks
I plan to visit LA this summer for about a week. Would I get any odd looks or comments being visibly muslim (wearing headscarf)?
The app is such a piece of garbage. You have to create an account and do so much bs just to enter the place. But it also says “verify your age”, and then asks you to create ANOTHER ACCOUNT through a third party (CLEAR), send a selfie, send your drivers license…
Fuck…and the amount of issues that persisted just trying to create an intuit dome account, and theres no one to help you, regardless of who you call. I dont want to create another account just to verify my age.
Anyone who has been yet, can you verify if you had to go through this entire process (Clear account, age and ID verification, etc etc) just to get a drink? Can anyone who has been verify that I can just show my id, and that you dont have to create another acct? Thanks.
What are your recommendations on your favourite recurring neighbourhood events that are good for a solo hangout that you frequent regularly that aren’t captured by the big event trackers?
I (M38) living in LA for the last 5+ years (HP, Del Rey and now Inglewood) have hit a lot of the big attractions in the city and am trying to find some regular spots for the days/nights when I’m solo. Thinking less general ‘this bar does music sometimes’ or ‘the well known big comedy club has comedy every night’ and more specific e.g. ‘every Wednesday my local bar has a promoter who curates a good night of indie rock that I love to go to’ or ‘my buddy runs a great comedy night every week in this venue’. Ideally looking for something that doesn’t break the bank to hit up otherwise I could be going to a bigger show.
Examples: Weekly Local Band/Cover Band nights, Trivia Nights, Comedy, Board Games/Chess, Painting/Drawing etc.
Looking forward to hearing shoutouts for places that you’re stoked about that don’t get as much love as you think they should.
Trying to help out a fellow Redditor, with her permission (not me). She is on the verge of homelessness, has no family and no funds. She is very resourceful and has followed through on all the ideas other redditors gave her. She has gotten on some shelter waitlists and applied for Job Corps. But she’s no closer to housing and I’m wondering if anyone has any direct contacts for a case manager or similar who can help her? As we all know, it can be an overwhelming system and waitlists are long. Any connections most appreciated.
In a week I’m traveling to LA to sightsee and explore. Planning on staying at this hotel (based on the reviews it seems pretty decent and is around the Hollywood walk of fame)
Best Western Hollywood Plaza Inn
Is there a lot of homeless around that area? I’m planning to visit the walk of fame, Griffith Observatory, universal Studios, Beverly Hills, A lakers Game, Santa Monica Pierre & Rodeo Drive.
Is there anywhere else that is worth going around the area or even more into the city? Would renting a car be better than taking uber? How is driving in LA compared to Toronto? (I daily commute on the 401/DVP, so I’m sort of worried about how the highways are there. Seems pretty normal for the most part like Canada.) Are the road rules any different?
What are some best hiphop clubs in hollywood la ?We’re group of 3 22 males. Any recommendation of the club? Also we were wondering about the entrance fee since its our first time in hollywood
I am about to graduate from school with a business degree. I am working part time at a movie studio, but I need another part time job to fill up the time and save money. I am moving to New York City in April. Even after in LA for years, I have no clue where to begin in terms of part time job. I was thinking movie theaters and hotels. What does this subreddit think? Thanks so much
Where can I find good Christmas vibes in LA this December? Thinking like markets, cafes, bars, events, etc.
We’ve got 3 teens ranging from 12-17, plus one spunky 9 year old.
I’m researching things to do to celebrate NYE this year, but it all seems geared towards small kids or adults only.
Anyone have a suggestion for fun things to do with older kids?
I was wondering if anyone knew if the Bobby Lee Hollywood Improv Eventbrite listing was legit? The listing title is “Free Admission to Hollywood Improv w/ Bobby Lee for first 10 ppl to sign up”. The person who uploaded has had a few event postings since November 3, but I called the Hollywood Improv and they said they wouldn’t know. I already applied and got the tickets, I just don’t know if I should show up because I don’t know if the tickets are valid. If anyone knows anything thank you :)
I don’t know why but I’m spinning out about this. I’ve been to the castle before but this time I no longer have a classic suit. I have a nice jacket but my nice chinos are a different color. I think it looks like a great combo but I’m trying to gauge if that’s actually ok.
I also have a tie and dress shoes that I will obviously wear.
Anyone gone like this before?
I recently got into an accident in August, and my car was totaled. Before the accident, I was paying around $200/month for car insurance, but now quotes are coming in as high as $500/month because of the accident. I’m looking to buy another car, but I’m working with a budget of about $7,000, hoping to just carry liability insurance to keep costs down.
Here’s the challenge: 1. I’m based in Los Angeles, and finding a reliable car in this price range has been tough. Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are full of scammers. 2. Most decent cars I’ve seen are in the $13,000–$15,000 range, which is above my budget.
Do you have any tips for finding a reliable car in my price range? Any suggestions for trustworthy dealerships, online platforms, or ways to avoid scams?
I’m open to older cars (Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc.) with good reliability, but I’d also appreciate advice on whether it might be better to put it as a down payment and finance the difference.
Maybe once in a while I would hear late at night (12am/1am) amplified through PA speakers what sounds like a woman saying something. Kinda comparable to a storm warning on an intercom or something. Have I idea what is being said though. Pretty loud enough to hear for a few blocks- any idea where it’s from/what it is?
I know that Trader Joe's and Whole Foods typically have Société Roquefort. Where in Los Angeles can I find Gabriel Coulet, Carles, and Papillon?
I know these brands are exported to the USA because I've encountered them periodically in the past..
for what it's worth, I think Gabriel Coulet is the winner.
Where are your favorite cheap grocery stores to buy fresh organic groceries? I’m closest to a Whole Foods and Gelson’s, and I know I’m being gauged for fruit and veg.
Can anyone recommend a good orthopedic surgeon who specializes in ankles for a torn ligament? I know Kerlan-Jobe has a good rep, but if anyone can speak to specific doctors there or elsewhere to see / avoid that would be much appreciated! Feel free to DM if you prefer. Thanks!
Hi there everyone!
I'm looking to surprise my girlfriend with tickets to see Wicked in LA for the month of January as part of her Christmas gift this year. We loved the movie when we saw it together in theaters last week and she hasn't been able to stop talking about it. I saw an advertisement on Instagram about the broadway show coming to the Pantages in LA, and so I did what any significant other would do for their amazing girlfriend by trying to get tickets to the show as part of her Christmas gift (even though we would be seeing it in January).
I've lived in SoCal all my life and wish I was more familiar with the Pantages, but I will admit that I am inexperienced when it comes to plays and broadway musicals. For the experts who have been to the Pantages and know what the best seats would be (specifically for Wicked if possible), what seats do you think are the best regardless of the price? I'm deciding either getting tickets in the middle of Row A in front of the Orchestra or in the middle of Row E in front of the Orchestra but I'm not sure if there is a better spot than these two.
Nonetheless, I know that my significant other will appreciate whatever seat I get for us because she is that amazing of a human being, but I still wanted to see if I can get the best seats for her and would appreciate any of your guises help. Thank you in advance :)
Titles says it all! My husband loves movies, it's basically his defining characteristic. I want to plan a super fun trip for him and hit all of the "must see" things.
We'll be there for about 3-4 days towards the end of February. So far I'm thinking, Warner Brothers Studio Tour, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and seeing a movie (of course) but what do you think? I really want to make this special for him! Is it too touristy? Am I missing anything big/special/ important?
Additionally, • We love trying new restaurants but are both currently sober so bars/drinks are out.
• I'm debating Uber/Lyft vs renting a car, what would be better?
• Any fun hotel recommendations with movie themes?
TIA!
Edit: getting lots of requests for his favorite movies. Here’s a list of his top 50! Maybe there’s some inspo in there??
I can't find ANY info about this online. All I can find is that Encounters closed 11 years ago. I don't care though, I just want to visit it. I don't even have a flight. I just live in LA and want to see one of its most iconic buildings. Is there any way to get inside the Theme Building? Let me know
Just went to Moskatel's because I needed some Christmas lights, and there were "store closing" and "everything must go" signs everywhere. Does anyone have any more info on a closing date, or what happened? I'm devastated!
We need some major stucco repair, not just small patches/cosmetic. Anyone have any recommendations for people they have used? It would most likely be taking it down to the studs, new lathe, etc. Any ballpark prices? Approximately 1200 sq house.
Second question, has anyone done the paint and stucco combined route? I’ve heard it’s pretty pricey but we need our house painted also.
