Anyone have any knowlege/ opinions on Chataqua Trace HOA Iin Ashland? Wondered if they're reasonable ?
No fire. No terribly villainous activity. Just stupidity. Some idiot who climbed the walls to the roof of the Black Sheep, got drunk and has to be extracted by the fire department before he gets more frost bite.
Reaching out to the Ashland tabletop game players…
I’m looking to join or start a new DnD game in town. I had been playing regularly for about a year with a group that more recently fell apart. I started in 4th edition in college and have mostly played 5e.
I like 5e, and would prefer to play the new 2024 rules. I can DM but would really love to be a player. Looking for a solid group with lots of role play and people who know or will learn to play and be somewhat invested in co-creating the experience.
I know about the game store in town but haven’t quite found a good fit there. I have a private space where I can host regular evening games. I’m mostly looking for folks with regular schedules that want a night once or twice a month to escape into another world with some friends. A group of fellow parents with young kids would be ideal, but I’m pretty open to see what unfolds.
Any interested people in this subreddit?
Hey, everybody!
I'm considering driving to Ashland from California for Christmas but everyone I know feels nervous about driving through the pass that time of year. I understand their feel but also most of my friends aren't really big drivers. I keep thinking... well surely people must do it? I've done a lot of driving so I don't feel too worried about it but everyone's reaction is giving me pause. Just wanting to take the temperature, have any of you driven the pass in winter? what was it like? Any advice you can offer is welcome!
thank you!
I really want to no if anyone else noticed that the weather here is the most out of pocket obscure thing ever.
Dang I live here. Also I recommend Matcha Boba house
stuck here on a friday. any cool spots in ashland or wtv
If you want to make your next camping trip a more authentic experience you should try this out. My cousin makes these pocket sized durable foraging guides, small enough to slip in your wallet. It has 55 of the most commonly found edible plants, trees, nuts and fruits in North America. It goes over what parts of the plant are edible, how to prepare them and any medicinal benefits they have. So you can give foraging a try on your next camping trip and spice up your meals whilst developing a useful skill. They're super cheap too, you can get 4 of them for just $39.95 so you can equip the whole family and make an activity out of it. Plus it's just handy to have if you frequently go camping or hiking, you never know when you might find yourself in a dire situation with no reception. It provides some peace of mind knowing you and your family can find food anywhere.

Does anybody have suggestions for places with community boards? I’ve gone to the plaza, Ruby’s, the Food Co-op, and Shop’n’Kart.
Hi! We have all the kids in town and wondering if there is a photographer available to get some pictures taken. If you are and have some availability this week please DM me. Thanks!!
I’ll be visiting in-laws over the thanksgiving holiday. I usually bring a mountain bike and ride your amazing trail network up and down from the ski park. After all this rain how do those trails hold up? Should I bring a gravel bike instead and stick to the forest roads? It’s looking like Friday is my best chance to get out for a few hours so there should be a few dry days after the storms. Thanks!
Anyone been through a ski season on the mountain and have thoughts/recs either positive or negative? Toying with the idea but not too familiar with the mountain or crew and just curious what might be expected, what to prepare or watch out for etc and get realistic about whether it’d be genuinely worthwhile to pursue.

I posted the other day asking suggestions on what to do around there. Y'all were awesome! Thank you.
I, naively, didn't bother to look into driving conditions beforehand and I just saw that it's common that I-5 closes in the Siskiyou Pass. I drive a 2020 Nissan Kicks SR with FWD. I also will have chains and snow socks. It's done ok in winter conditions before as long as the roads are plowed or the ice and snow doesn't build too much. The PDX Metro area isn't great at keeping up with that though.
Should I be concerned about driving? We planned on trying to visit Ashland and some surrounding areas December 4th-7th and are coming from the Portland area via my car.
Any tips or advice on driving or places we need to see our visit while we're there are greatly appreciated!
Thank you all in advance!!
It's a long shot but I think my keys may have fallen out of my pocket on a walk on the 18th on the west side of Siskiyou between Tolman Creek and Park.
If you happen to find them please send me a DM
Thank you!
I’m curious what the morning will bring in terms of downed trees and street signs and wicked witches caught under houses.
Hello all. My girlfriend is traveling for work and drives back tomorrow. She’s nervous because of the weather and was wondering what the best route to avoid weather (at best) would be. Thanks!
So I opened a restaurant this year. Right smack dab on Main Street. I’ve had a few food carts before but this is my first Brick and Mortar. Damn. I have learned a ton of things. I’m not a trained chef or anything. I just make food that people like to eat.
I tried to replicate menu items off the menu of the old restaurant that was there. What was different is that I wanted to do a fast casual, affordable, quality place with a smaller menu. The previous place (for 34 years) was a famous sit-down Italian restaurant.
I quickly learned that I needed to add more menu items. And. That people aren’t really as interested in healthy dining as I thought. Turns out most people just don’t care. And the ones that do, are very very specific. They have a list of 3-12 dealbreakers that will make them not eat at 95% of restaurants. I tried to make it healthier. But that only drove up food costs while not satisfying the “healthy” demographic.
I signed the lease a year ago. We spent three months just cleaning, planning, etc before opening in March. I’m not posting it on FB or anything, but I’m not certain that we will make it through the winter.
Now, I know we aren’t doing everything we can to drive customers. Being cash strapped on a venture like this sucks. There are a ton of ideas and no capital to make them happen. For instance, I’ve been looking at the ODOT highway sign all year. I’d love to have our logo on there. When the weather was better, I would have loved to have an extra $1000 or so to pull off the outdoor seating. Same goes for a beer and wine license.
I just wanted to say thanks. It’s been fun being a part of this wacky little community. Maybe we will see you on the 300 block!
My wife and I will be passing through and would like to stay in Ashland for a day. We live in Arcata, CA and hear great things from this town.
What are the best things to do in the fall? Do you have any hot tubs places? Where is the best dinner? What are the coolest building to check.
Thank you for your input.
