Hello community! I feel like this should be a relatively simple thing, but I have looked through tutorials and all I can find is how to make a sub object material. What if I want to reverse it? Is there an easy fix? Thank you in advance! Edit: my title autocorrected to "subject", but you know what I mean. ;)
The parameters of every material aren't fully visible and i can't increase the window horizontally either. If anyone has a way to fix this it would be amazing, i just started using 3ds max so i really don't know what to do.
Hello,
I cant move or rotate newly created objects. I can scale them.
Shift-A doesn't work. I'm not on autolock, I've reset the animation controllers, and nothing is linked to anything.
Once an object is made it immediately snaps to the world origin.
All other objects can move.
I would very much appreciate help, thank you!
Hey there--- am curious if 3ds Max is used frequently in the industry? I am trying to brand out of my normal offerings to my students in our secondary Communications Technology classrooom and incorporate more 3D rendering, perhaps create 360 projections to then explore using our VR headsets, etc. Trouble is I am having a hard time decided which program would be best for me to learn on and therefore teach them. This is high school level so it wouldn't be to an advanced level by any stretch. I just don't want to set them up with a software, love it, go into uni/college for it then discover the program they got used to isn't even a thing in the real world anymore ha. THANKS!
Hey !
I am having trouble with Reflection Roughness map. I am using 3ds Max and V-Ray
Since i am beginner, I have previously used Reflection Glossines map. I usually have used output map for reflection map to control the reflection.
Now i have looked at some tutorials how to make PBR materials in V-Ray
I do everything by the tutorials but the problem is with the roughness map there seem to be no reflections at all. The render looks dull and "grayish". (With reflection glossiness it looks good). Even if i change the roughness value, nothing changes. I have tried to look as much tutorials as i can but i could not figure it out.
What am i missing, can someone show me example of how tou have mapped it.
Thank you!
Does anyone know a way or script that automatically aligns the direction of wood textures for things like cabinets?
Hello, I’m curious when job offers require 3DS Max generalist animation, they expect you to animate using what exactly? I mean, do they usually provide TyFlow and Vray with Phoenix package? If not that, what are the alternatives when comes to let’s say product animation using sims etc in Max? Thanks
Hi all, does anyone have links to share for creating CGIs like the above? (pic credited to original author / company - got from linked in). I searched in google and youtube but couldn't find one specific to this style. Also if you are or know someone who is willing to offer tutor please dm me? Thank you!
If I have numerous Segments in the Randomizer node, is it possible to prevent a certain segment from being repeated concurrently? So what I'm trying to prevent is windows I've created in a wall of random sized metal panels to be placed back to back. I want to always have at least one panel between windows. I feel like with a days worth of trial and error in the Macro Expressions tool I can probably find a fix, or pull my hair out in the process. However, if someone smarter than me here already knows the answers I'd be forever grateful!!
Hey guys, I´ve been trying to fix this issue but haven´t found an answer yet.
Im using a´n HDRI sky dome from Polyhaven; the render multiplier on the hdri is 5, and the multiplier on the dome is 10.
I´m using a Vray Camera with default settings.
Not sure why it looks good when the light cache passes before rendering and the suddenly changes, please help.

Hi guys, I think I skipped a 3dsmax class because whenever I import some 3D it is all white with no texture
I already put the textures folder in Project Patch and everything is still white
Any solution or am I doing something wrong?
I have these 2 objects, but I need to leave them as if they were 1 thing, is there any modifier or an easy technique to do this?
are two separate objects
I need to make them more "homogeneous" like this:
Hi all,
Does anyone know if it's possible to force 3dsmax to show black edges around parts in a render?
Any help appreciated!
Cheers!
I do a lot of work that has me cleaning up triangulated models in order to have them smooth out properly when using turbo/mesh smooth. I would like to assing a hotkey for the quadrify selection function, since I otherwise have to constantly move my mouse to the modeling tab to select the right button. Doesn't sound like much, but that one to two seconds it takes me to move my mouse over to the modeling tab and click the quadrify selected button and then back to selecting the tris, adds up when working on a complex model.
I know you can customize hotkeys, but I couldn't find the quadrify selected function only the quadrify all, which isn't helpful since that doesn't work properly most of the time.
As the title states, im currently looking for the quickest way to build walls and windows from floorplan. These are my ways that i have found pretty solid but takes time. Is there any other quicker ways/tips to do it faster?
Method 1: creating a line from the middle of the wall from the plan, then adding extrude + shell modifiers
Method 2: create line from the outline of the walls and extrude up
Method 3: create box and probolean all the spaces
My preferred workflow is to have all objects in the scene a default grey color and with a black wireframe. This requires me to use the material editor and assign the grey material and then assign a black object color to get the wireframe. Is there a way to automate this?
I know if if uncheck assign random colors in the object color panel and select black it'll make all the objects black with black wireframe upon object creation, so that's half the battle. I just need a way to assign a default grey physical (or other) material to every object upon creation as well.
Any ideas?
Hi all - I'm just getting started in the 3D space, and checking out all sorts of tutorials online. I'm trying to make abstract shapes using splines, and so far have made a little progress, but I'm trying to work toward making things look more like this: https://i.imgur.com/CL0inLL.jpeg
Seems simple enough, right?
Can anyone explain or point me in the right direction of how to get shapes to be smoothly convex and concave on different sides as seen here? Currently, I am just extruding "up" and then scaling a single face "in" to a point, which leaves the sides a mess. Definitely going for a more sculpted look.
Any and all help is appreciated - thanks!
Hi everyone. Im currently using Corona 6 on 3ds max. However in some project I cant set the amount of noise level limit. How can i solve this? Thx. Im a beginner btw. . Ps: I also checked the adaptivity option and the box is ticked
I’m working on a project where I need to render a few images with a solid white background, while keeping my HDRI map for my environment lighting purposes: so I don’t want my white background to be seen on my materials. I also don’t want to render pngs without a background and then put the white background later- since my colleagues say that it looks too pixelated near the edges of the png and just feels fake this way (I’m thinking they think it lacks depth without our usual scene). Any help/tips/suggestions will be appreciated and thank you so much in advance!
Im really new to 3dsmax and know really little about it. Im having an issue where whenever i try to render an animation/get a video output, it only renders 129 frames making the video only 4 seconds long. The rest of the frames are just missing. For example , i recently set the timeline to 400 to create a 12 second long animation , but when rendered for the final output, it only consisted of 129 frames and was only 4 seconds long and the rest of the animation was cut out as its only 4 seconds long. I require to create longer animations for future projects in my diploma and this issue isn't allowing me to do so. Any help on how to fix this will be really helpful. FYI, i tried everything possible around the settings with time configurations and swept through each possible setting i thought would have a solution but had no luck in figuring it out. please help🙂.
Remade the Disappearing emoji meme in 3Ds Max (Im learning this program in school so I'm still pretty much a beginner)
What do u think about it!
Can someone help me figure out why this keeps happening? see pic
it usually happens after 15-20 mins of working, every time i enter and exit the editable poly stack, another panel shows up until 3ds max crashes completely.
