Skin care is a pretty big deal, and we love subs like /r/SkinCareAddiction, however we felt there needed to be a sub that deals specifically with skin that's over 30. Share your questions, frustrations and triumphs!
Some basic rules:
Please don't post here if you aren't yet 30 - we will be removing posts from people under 30. r/SkincareAddiction has a fantastic list of the other subs on Reddit where you will be talking to your peers: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/related_subs
We can't (and don't) offer medical advice. Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns about your health. Your post will be removed for asking about medical conditions (for example: a photo and "What is this?)
No spam, self-promotion, direct product links or consumer surveys! If you would like to recommend a product, you may link it within a text post. Also, do not self-promote your app, blog, you tube reviews, cosmetic services etc. Please don't use this group for surveys or consumer research. If you are doing academic research and would like to ask for permission to post about your study, YOU MUST contact the moderation team before doing so.
Discussion of cosmetic surgeries / enhancements / treatments is totally cool here.
Selfies are not allowed EXCEPT on Selfie Sundays. If you are posting to ask questions about a particular area of your face, you must edit your photo so it is clear what you are concerned about, either by cropping the photo or by blocking out features you are NOT asking about.
Be nice. Constructive criticism is cool, but acting like an ass is not. And do NOT post things like "How old do you think I look / am" as that never goes well.
If you are shilling for a MLM company, you will be banned. Please see r/antiMLM if you want to know why.

Can anyone compare the SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 to the La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Tinted Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50? How do they compare with tint? For very dry skin? Hydrating vs drying at the end of the day? Very sensitive reactive rosacea skin? Ease of removal? Do you prefer 1 vs the other? Why?
I’m going crazy with these undereye wrinkles. I feel they’re deep for 33 and can’t imagine what they’ll look like by 43. I don’t even see wrinkles here on my friends that are 45-50. I already know it’s from side sleeping, but if I sleep on my back I get severe sleep paralysis. I’ve changed to silk pillowcases, I’m using tret. What else can be done? The rest of my skin is pretty good and these are driving me crazy.
Been thinking about starting more routine Microneedling sessions yearly and wondering how many people have done Microneedling consistently and if they saw a difference? How long have you been doing it? Do you see a lot of changes in how you're aging? Thanks! :)
I was on bcp (Yasmin) for a decade and never got one zit! Went off of it and then a year later got some acne and now 3 years later I have terrible acne. Usually 1-2 cystic spots and a bunch of other ones and redness. Been doing tretinoin for 6 months which has helped some but not enough… when did y’all bite the bullet and try spiro or go back on the pill? I was hoping to avoid both but my skin is ruining my confidence 😭
Hi all! I recently got filler in my chin/marionette lines. I paid for Voluma but I believe they used a thinner product. Every time I had Voluma in the past, I could really feel the definition of it under my skin for the first week or so. This doesn’t feel like anything. It’s fuller, but doesn’t have the stiffness/definition I felt with Voluma in the past. Am I crazy (in this scenario)?
Hi everyone,
I could really use some advice as I'm completely overwhelmed on Sephora.
I stopped using full coverage foundation a year ago because it caked/seeped into fine lines/looked awful on me. I switched to Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint, which I like but I'm having issues with.
This stuff looks fantastic when I put it on. Half an hour later it's an oil slick, by lunch most of it is completely gone. I'm tired of reapplying it 5 times a day. I have a party this weekend and I'd like to look great.
I really don't want to go back to foundation, but I don't know what else to do. Do any matte skin tints exist that still make skin look like skin?
I have a ton of acne scaring on my cheeks, as well as general redness all over.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
Hey everyone! I’m 32F and I’m looking to improve my skincare routine. Right now, my routine is pretty basic. I use CeraVe Cleanser twice a day (morning and night), and for moisturizer, I alternate between two products: Farmacy Daily Greens Moisturizer and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.
I’ve noticed that my skin can feel dry at times, but also oily in certain areas. I’m looking for recommendations for a simple, effective routine to balance my skin and help improve its overall health. I’d love suggestions on products or steps I might be missing.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey, sunscreen warriors! I know how important sunscreen is while using tretinoin from Skinorac, but reapplying throughout the day is such a struggle. 😫 I’m especially lost on how to reapply without messing up my makeup or irritating my skin. I’ve tried powder sunscreens but not sure if they’re as effective. Has anyone found a good way to reapply that works for sensitive skin? Or is there a specific product that’s really good for this? I’d love any recommendations—trying to keep my skin protected without sacrificing my routine
Hii, can anyone identify this? Any recommendations to reduce this?
AgeJet - I am having this later on this month, my aesthetician recommends no moisturiser for a week which seems pretty brutal to me, as it works (allegedly) at a cellular level surely this wouldn't make any difference to the results? Would love some comments from those with experience.
32F with rosacea and ultra sensitive skin. I have tried several anti-aging products over the past couple years. I know Tretinoin is considered the gold standard but this did not work for my skin even when I tried short-contact therapy and sandwiching the tiniest pea size amount between layers of moisturizer twice a week. It’s simply too intense for my rosacea skin.
I tried Adapalene (differin) to help with some breakouts at one point and I had much better luck with this retinoid.
Once my skin cleared (~a year ago) I switched to a few different gentle OTC retinols/retinals to use every night for anti-aging. Retinol is fine, retinal was not.
Now that I know both OTC retinol and Adapalene (Differin) are well tolerated by my skin, I’d like to continue with the one that will be more effective for long-term anti-aging. I’m not looking for short term results with either, since I’m only 32, I just want the results to compound over the years. My uncertainty lies in that I’ve heard Adapalene has not been studied for anti-aging, and that OTC retinol is very weak and unstable and far less regulated in OTC products. So what would you choose for long-term anti-aging?
I sauna several times a week after the gym, as I hope it will improve my skin elasticity and other anti-aging benefits over the long term. Actual research seems mixed on whether or not this actually makes a difference.
Has anyone noticed any benefits from dry sauna for their skin?
I’m on my 30s and experiencing hormonal acne for the last three years. I’ve had acquaintances or family friends say things like their skin got better when they stopped using face wash or all I need is hot water.
I foolishly tried not using face wash and only Micellar water with a biweekly gentle chemical exfoliator mask. In addition to hormonal acne I developed congestion with what I assume were sebum plugs. Made my skin texture look terrible.
And hot water. Golly, hot water?! I’ve never even heard of a shower let alone HOT WATER. Snark aside, many sources say is not good for your skin or scalp and to only use warm water.
So, what terrible advice have you received? Let’s commiserate and maybe laugh together.
Has anyone else tried this and been floored by how painful it was? I have a high threshold, and I was honestly woozy at the end of the treatment (even with numbing cream first). It was MUCH more intense than I realised. And I have to get it done repeatedly to see the benefits!!
Hi. I'm eager to get Botox.. aged 44. Everything going south etc. 🤨
However.... I'm really poor with needles & ehh pain.
Can i ask what have people been offered to help with this or what have you used before appt?
I've been to one consultation where they said they could use a numbing cream. That practice has moved now. Is this a commonly offered option ?
Thank you.
What’s everyone’s thoughts? I’ve reviewed it and have loved using it for the past weeks! Keen to hear anyone else’s opinions or experience with their series 1 or series 2 🫶🏼 Newly joined this community, 30 plus YouTuber and beauty industry workhorse 🤣
I’ve been having acne since I was 10 — and truthfully I’m soooo over it. Days before my period I’ll get an unforgiving breakout. By the time the scars heal in the following month, new pimples appear. There is literally no skincare that can save me from this atrocity. Has anyone figured out a hack from period pimples ?? I’m truly truly exhausted
Hello 30 plus skin carers,
I’ve noticed that my eyes look the most uneven right after I wake up and they get slightly better throughout the day, but the asymmetry is still noticeable (well at least for me lol) Does anyone have advice on how to reduce this or make it less noticeable ?
Thanks in advance !
Hi all I've been using Ultraceuticals for a couple of months and I've loved it up till now. Unfortunately I have recently had an allergic reaction to the moisteriser. Very disappointed in my skin. I don't blame the product because it's obviously just an issue with my skin. Strange how you can use something for months and then just suddenly not tolerate it anymore. My poor red, burnt, itchy eyes/nice skin 😟 Hope this doesn't happen to others.
My dermatologist just set me up for a medical glycol peeling to activate my skin. I ve developed very dry skin on my cheeks where i used to have mixed skin. Since moisturizers didn't help much, she recommended an activation peeling with Glycol.
I am wondering because i heared only about peelings for acne.
Anyone had this peeling for getting rid of dry skin as well? 38,f Thank you
I’m finishing up the last of my Chantecaille, so I’m looking for new products. 2 years - I’m calling it. I gave Chantecaille my best shot but I feel like there might be better products for the price I’m paying.
Background:
Hence I’m left with the 3 products shortlisted above.
Before Chantecaille, I’ve used SKII and La Mer. Loved La Mer until its reformulation, plus I can no longer use seaweed as I’m worried about the iodine in the product that will affect my thyroid.
Added in Chantecaille in case I should give this one more shot, haven’t tried the rose cream - currently using the gold cream.
TIA, fam!
Does your skin regress back to pre tret conditions? Is there a purge? I'm interested to start with retinoids but I'm scared of severe breakouts if I stop...
I went to a local medispa to get help with evening my skin tone on my back before my wedding. IPL was suggested and in hindsight, I think she went too high. I am Asian and I know my skin tone/type is sensitive to this type of treatment. I’ve gotten laser hair removal before with no side effects. However this time it left me with dark brown patches, they are slightly rough in texture. It’s been a month and they’re barely lightening. The medispa is now suggesting weekly microneedling with daily 2% hydroquinone cream applications. Does anyone have experience? Will this help lighten the patches in a months time for my wedding? Is there anything else I can do?
I have a scar on my upper nose, radix, and a derm is going to do skin pen microneedling on it. How deep do the needles need to go to create collagen on a larger body nose? I am worried about making the scarring worse but I want to make sure I go deep enough to promote collagen production.
Also, is it important to make sure to ask the derm to only use up and down motions as I'm worried just smoothly dragging pen across nose can cause horizontal tearing of the fibers.
Thanks so much for any feedback. It means a lot :)
I have had one of these for years (left). But recently 3 more appeared (cluster on the right). White hard dots, they can’t be squeezed like a white head. Asked the dermatologist, they said nothing to worry about but removing it would leave a bigger scar. They never said what they were! Anyone know what they are or have any advice on products to get rid of them? Thank you 🙏
