All the towels in my house leave bits of fluff and fabric on my face whenever I dry my face and it’s very off putting, does anyone know a good brand or type of towel to use when doing my routine?
My daughter has recently been upset that her acne moves from her chin to her cheeks to her forehead, and each time it leaves scars. This means that her whole face is getting scars. Does anyone else experience this and could anyone provide a reason why? My daughter has looked at acne maps but still gets pimples on her forehead, for example, even though she does not have bangs.
This pimple is a weird one, it hasn't gone down in about two weeks. It also recently developed a black middle bit, but it has no head. It sticks far out, is very red and is painful to touch.
Any suggestions would be very welcome!
A bit about me: 22, acne prone skin (controlled at the moment for my face, but I have a few pimples on my back as well as extensive scarring on my back where it used to be cystic.) no other concerns
Current routine:
morning- nothing (in summer, sunscreen)
evenings-salicylic acid cleanser in shower for my face and back, and I double up with benzoyl peroxide wash for my back since it’s the worst area for me, retinol 0.2% from versed face only, and moisturizer face only (forgot the brand but it’s great)
I recently got into skincare after using the above routine. It changed my life. I never really cared about having clear skin before, but I didn’t realize how amazing I could look when I took care of myself. So I went online and bought a bunch of other products, as one does when they realize they’ve been seriously missing out.
Here’s what I got: ascorbyl glucoside 12%, niacinimide 10% + zinc 1%, salicylic acid 2%
How would you incorporate these products into the routine I just listed? I’m assuming I might need to skip retinol some days for the niacinimide, and maybe use the ascorbyl glucoside in the mornings, but since I am a complete beginner, I would rather hear some advice from those who have better knowledge than me lol.
Specifically, should I put any of the products on my back to deal with acne, and for my face, how should I be applying this during my routine? What order, and does it even matter? I hear mixed advice. Some people say it’s okay to mix these things since .2% retinol is so dilute, while others say it’s better not to risk it. It’s so overwhelming lol!
Hi, everyone.
First of all, before I start my rant, please allow me to emphasize that I know in skin care, everyone reacts differently to products and no two skins are the same. So while I am having this rant about Differin knowing it has ruined my skin, I also know that a lot of people have had some great results with Differin and this is all just based on my own experience.
Now, to my rant. I'm a 29 year old guy and I have BDD when it comes to my skin. I wouldn't say I have acne, but rather I get pimples randomly every 2 weeks or so. So to fix this problem I started using Differin 0.1%.
I first started using Differin alongside clindamycin lotion back in 2021 and for me I believed that it stopped pimples from occuring and I felt as if it made my skin really smooth and shiny but the thing is during that time I visited Turkey for the summer and I got a tan and Everytime I am exposed to the sun, I get crystal clear, smooth skin. I'm already mid tanned as I'm Middle Eastern myself and I rarely get sunburned or anything. Come to think of it now, I don't even think Differin or the clindamycin did anything for me rather it was the sunshine.
Anyways, I stopped using because I felt it had started to irritate my skin a bit back in 2021. I went on it again from May 2023 until February 2024 and my God, I started breaking out like never before!! I kept saying it could be a purge or my skin is getting used to it, but it just wouldn't stop irritating my skin every day, so after 9 months of usage I stopped. After stopping it, I would get random itchy areas on my skin and then it would turn into a red bump and I had to use hydrocortisone cream per my pharmacists instructions to make the bump disappear, which it would around 24 hours later. This happened for around 3 or 4 months every once in a while before calming down. Secondly, I couldn't even let the sun hit my skin for even a minute. The minute I would get exposed to the sun, my skin would get these tiny under the skin bumps which were colourless. So a person like me who doesn't get sunburned, I couldn't even expose my skin to the sun for even a minute. This went away around September of this year and I could start tanning again like usual.
Fast forward to October 29th of this year, after 8 months of not using Differin, I turned pure and utterly stupid saying to myself "I wanna get shiny Korean looking skin, so let me try Differin again." I used Differin from October 29th to exactly November 22nd and fully stopping it from November 23rd and haven't touched it since then. Again I get random itchy areas and it would turn into a bump. But this time around my skin is gone more red and irritated and it still hasn't recovered. Even the wind hitting my skin or cold weather makes my skin go super red and blotchy.
BDD can really play with your brain in bad ways. And also, if you have very sensitive skin like I do, please BE CAREFUL WITH DIFFERIN, it's definitely not a product you should joke with and I hope to God I never turn stupid again and use it in the future.
I’m trying to bug an eye cream, but am unsure about what brand or kind I should get. I don’t have an exact “problem”, but maybe something for eye bags or puffiness. Thank you.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been dealing with mild acne and scars. I have 2 active acne and around 4–5 old acne scars from previous breakouts. They're not very serious, but I've been looking for an effective product to help clear things up and to improve my skin.
I came across Picspot (Azelaic Acid 15%), and I’m interested in giving it a try, but I’m not sure if I can purchase it without a dermatologist prescription. I know it’s used for treating acne, pigmentation, and skin tone irregularities, which seems perfect for my skin concerns.
A bit about my skin:
Type: Dry & sensitive
Concerns: Mild active acne, acne scars, redness, and occasional irritation due to dryness.
Current Routine: I use cerave hydrating cleanser for both AM/PM. Cerave moisturizer at AM and bioderma atoderm intensive baume moisturizer at PM. Requil zinc tinted mineral sunscreen when I go out.
I want to know if anyone has used this product and whether it’s safe for people with sensitive skin like mine. If you’ve used it, did you experience any irritation or dryness? Also, is it necessary to consult a dermatologist first, or can I just start using it?
Any advice or personal experiences would be really helpful! Thank you!
What products/ingredients are good for fading scars? I have light scars on my legs from when I used to slice n dice em and I'm trying to get them to fade.
I feel like reapplying my sunscreen throughout the day (I work indoors) will spread dirt or whatever else is on my face.
I’m trying to be better about consistently wearing sunscreen to help with my dark spots and acne marks. So what is your preferred method to reapply sunscreen?
I’m looking to add retinol to my routine but I’m unsure of how to start. I’m thinking of buying CeraVe’s, if that makes a difference here.
I currently use a benzoyl peroxide face wash some mornings, not every day. In the evenings I use Paula’s Choice BHA on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Saturdays I use an AHA clay mask that washes off.
How would I incorporate retinol into this routine?
I'm about to start using it on my face and I know the skin is more sensitive on the neck but I'm not sure if I'm suppose to use another retinol there. I'm wondering if it'll do more harm than good.
I want to make a body lotion with up to 10-12% total acid content (a mix of glycolic, lactic and kojic acid) so as to fight minor pigmentations and just overall improve the quality of my skin. Could I use up to 4-5% TCA too? Another thing I want to know is what kind of oil I can use in my lotion so that it doesn't counteract the effects of the acids. Coconut oil any good? Or any other oils?
My bf won’t put on any sunscreen, or moisturizer because he can’t stand the feeling of it. His skin has gotten so bad because of dryness. He also needs sunscreen in the summer. Can someone recommend any? But it has to have absolutely no feeling, or he won’t put it on.
I thought I had my routine on lock after switching to a full Malezia lineup, but sadly the urea moisturizer is causing a bit of mild irritation so I’m back to square one.
Any moiusturizer recs for absolutely fussy skin in title? Seems like lightweight but hydrating gels are the way to go but not sure what would work for me.
I've had acne all over my face since puberty but my skin has improved with age and a skincare routine. My skin has been much better but for the past week I've had breakouts all on one side of my face.
I wash my sheets regularly, no sun exposure, I don't touch my face or put my phone to my face and i just feel at a loss. No changes to my skincare routine and I've never had this problem before so any wisdom is appreciated
My partner has struggled with cystic acne their whole life and has tried everything. Switching up their regime, medicated products, etc.
I'm going to order some more of my personal products soon (I order and use products from Style Korean - its the only stuff that's helped clear up my skin) and thought I'd order him some stuff as well to test out. Is there korean stuff that can specifically help with cystic acne?
Thank you!!
Help with skin routine
Hi there! New to skincare. I have a basic skincare routine and want “glass skin”. Please give me recommendations. I’ve heard aveeno gel moisturizer is a good moisturizer, as well as the La Roche Posay once, give me recommendations please!
Here is my routine:
Am: -Clindamycin Phosphate and benzoyl peroxide gel 1.2%/5% (prescribed) -ponds dry skin cream -Eucerin clear skin SPF 50 face lotion
Pm: -cerave hydrating cream to foam cleanser -benzoyl peroxide gel again -ponds face lotion
My skin had been flawless for the past two weeks after a months long battle with eczema, acne, treatment, etc. I finally reached a "normal" skin texture, and I decided to mix in the good molecules hyaluronic acid serum for added hydration. I use a humidifier at night, and made sure to lock in the HA with moisturizer.
Yesterday after my normal shower, I applied the HA as usual, went about my day, applied make up, and went out. When I got home and started to remove my make up, I noticed dry patches that were oozing on my forehead and cheeks. Overnight it got worse, and I've had a similar reaction like this to a moisturizer years ago so I am aware what it is....
Anyone else have this experience with HA? Also any tips on how to heal it up nicely? :(
How can i increase the skin tone of my skin?
Sometimes in the morning when I'm late for work I'll skip washing my face (I shower the night before) and just apply my serum, moisturizer, eye cream, and sunscreen on my dry face. Does this lessen the effects of skincare at all? Also this is only in the morning, I double cleanse at night. Would just some warm water splashed and rubbed around be better? 😂 Thanks!!
I've tried various products and diy masks and they won't go away. Do you have any products that help with it?
Hi SCA! I have been using Paula's Choice 2% BHA for two months every night (worked my way up). My skin texture and appearance of pore size is unchanged. I want glowy bouncy skin. Skin type: dry dry cheeks, oily forehead. If I don't wash my face with a washcloth every evening, it's as if I have flakes and scales; with my fingernail, I can gently flake skin off.
What should I be using? Do I need a different exfoliant? Tret?
