Welcome to r/VintageScooters. This is the place for fans of the classic Italian styled scooters that started it all.
Please use this space to ask questions, show off your scooters, post rally info and buy and sell scooters and parts. If you have a scooter or parts for sale, please put "FS" in the title. Just keep things on topic, which is 2-stroke, manually shifted, metal, kick started scooters from the 1940s up to 1982 or so. And maybe their clones. As always beware of Asian bodges (and please don't try and sell them here).

I am trying to fit a horn on a 1962 Vespa 150 GL. The one I ordered doesn't line up with the holes. The bezel has an outside diameter of 74mm. In the picture, the top left mounting hole is aligned but the hole patter isn't big enough to align with the other homing holes. Are there bigger options? The horns i see listed are 72mm or 74mm. Thanks!
I picked up a 1979 P200E this weekend for $2500. It has a bit more surface rust than I originally thought but it is in overall decent mechanical condition. Starts in 2 kicks and idles easily. It has a sticking front brake and clutch, but has a new battery, tires & tubes, petcock, carb, fuel line, and CDI. Gas tank is completely rust-free, and came with the original manual, tools, and two sets of keys. Owner had it since the early 90s and has moved to a modern Vespa. I’m going to go through and fix what it needs right away then decide how far I want to go with restoration.
One strange thing I didn’t notice until after I was going through it, when I kick it, the motor seems to move a bit more than I think it should, and I may be crazy, but I think the rear tire is leaning a bit. I imagine that’s perished bushings?
Hopefully I got a decent deal and I don’t discover any other surprises. Can’t wait to dig into it once I sort the Vespa 90 for my brother in law. Thanks everyone here for your advice and ideas!
I’ve looked at Vespas around my local area and I’ve found a few px125s ranging from a few different years. Would it be a good choice for a beginner such as myself? I run basic maintenance on my current 50cc auto scooter, replacing lights, pumping tires, replacing and checking oil, brake fluid. Is there much more I’d need to know? Thanks.
Hello I want to ask all of you, good people, if you know a way to replace the swing arm bushings of a Vespa Primavera ('80) without removing completely the engine from the chassis. The last time I replace them was when I rebuilt the engine so I had it on the bench. I really don't want to disconnect all the cables.
Hello, I’m looking for a vintage Vespa that’s 125cc. Can anyone recommend any reliable/affordable models? I have a 50cc automatic scooter right now but I am looking for something manual and 125cc. Thanks.
I bought a "Complete Rubber Kit" for my 1962 Vespa 150 GL project and I don't have a clue where half of this stuff goes. Is there a guide or video that shows where the different Rubber bits go in the chassis, air box, etc? Thanks!
Hello,
As I wrap up working on this 1964 Vespa 90 I’ve been thinking to pick up a P200e for my next project and personal scooter. I found one that is local enough and under 3 grand. It’s in good enough shape where I’m not forced to do anything major to it. But that got me thinking, maybe it would be a good candidate for something a bit more unconventional. Not a full blown racer, but something inspired by that direction. Modest retro racer look with some power and handling mods.
Before I lay out a bunch of cash for this, I wanted to poll the experience of the people of VintageScooters. Is my idea ill-advised ?
Hello! Can anyone let me know roughly how much this scooter would be worth? It’s a Lambretta pacemaker special and I believe to be in excellent condition. Thank you.
Finally got this thing running. Bought it a couple years ago, procrastinated a bunch, and finally overhauled the fuel system. Few more things to address before she’s sea worthy.
Recently acquired this 65 VBB. It’s been sitting for 20 yrs. Besides cleaning the gas tank and carb, do I need to do anything to the engine before starting it up?
The engine does seem stuck but I haven’t tried kicking it over
I don't have to ask vintage questions very often, but this is one of those instances. I have a P200e with trashed casings that absolutely cannot be fixed. I found some Cosa 200 casings on ebay but I don't know a ton about them besides using the Cosa clutch. I can't really seem to find anything online about them either. Are the internals from my 1979 P200e compatible with the VSR1M casings? I don't mind swapping out a few things here or there, but I'd ostensibly like to transfer most of the internals from the VSE1M to the VSR1M. Thanks in advance for any insight!
So I have a 60/50 series it's a old project that me and my grandpa had he passed a week after I pulled it from his backyard it needs alot of work but I need to stay on a budget with this I'll make another post of anyone needa to see pictures of it or something like that
Hello,
I’ve been browsing Craigslist and Cycle trader for old Vespas but the options are thin. Are there better places I can be looking for an older Vespas? Not looking for a museum piece, I’d prefer something that needs a little TLC. Don’t mind if i have to have it shipped for the right one. Thanks!
