Marathons are such a nuisance

Sucks more when your apartment complex only has one entrance from the street they're holding the event on. Crappy drivers that also won't give you a pass to merge in.

I feel bad for the people who work the graveyard shift too and won't be able to get into their homes until this marathon is over.

Just so inconvenient.

Ok done ranting.

Suggestions for local businesses that ship nationally

Hey there! I'm looking to send family that's lives across the U.S. some local goodies from Vegas. I am aware of Ethel M as I've sent gifts from there many times but what are some suggestions y'all have had success with that ship nationally? Thanks in advance!

Are there issues purchasing a handgun if you regularly shop at a dispensary?

Does it matter if it’s medical or recreational usage? I’m not the purchaser but the purchaser is telling me I’m wrong. I don’t think I am. I don’t think you can purchase both.

Is a sticker from a kiosk showing a new address enough to purchase a handgun in Nevada or do I need a new license with my new address on it?

Also, how long does the background check take or is it on the spot?

I was one of the thousands of Nevada voters need to verify their signatures. Have you verified and cured your vote?

I was one of the many people that needed to verify their signatures.

If you want to check, go to: https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/government/departments/elections/voter_services.php

If you are on the list you can call the Clark County Registrar at 702-455-6552. They picked up immediately and we're ready to cure my vote!

Make sure you check the status of your mail ballot after you submit it. It might be rejected.

If you didn't know, Clark County has a website where you can check the status of your ballot. After I turned mine in, the status was "voted". However, my wife's status showed up as "rejected", so it looks like she'll have to go through a process to confirm her ballot. Rejected ballots must be cured no later than November 12th to have that ballot be counted. FYI.

You can drop off your mail-in ballot at a polling location

Hi neighbors! If you didn’t make it to early voting and don’t think you have time to vote in person on Tuesday, you can fill out your mail-in ballot you received if you’re registered and drop it off at a polling place. They have special collection boxes and you can watch a poll worker place it in the box so you know it’s safe. (They also give you another sticker if you ask nicely!) I’ve been doing this since the pandemic and get my text that it’s been collected a couple days later. Please make sure to vote however you can!!

I'm looking for a couple of folks to help me finish assembling the gazebo in my back yard. Need help lifting the roof panels into place. Tools provided, just need some muscle. $100/person for 2 hours or less. If it takes longer, we'll go from there.

Thinking of Moving to Vegas? Join the 6K Newcomers Arriving Each Month!

I went to the DMV here on flamingo yesterday, expecting the usual experience since I moved here a few years ago without any issues. But this time, they told me walk-ins are no longer allowed. Curious, I asked why, and the answer surprised me—they’re seeing an influx of about 6,000 people moving to Vegas every month this year!

Because of this population boom, the DMV simply can’t support both walk-ins and appointments anymore. It’s wild to think how fast Vegas is growing—just a few years ago, you could walk in and get things done, but now it’s a different story.

For those who’ve been here a while, have you noticed the changes in other parts of the city? And for anyone thinking of making the move, be ready to book ahead for stuff like the DMV and expect a lot more people everywhere!

Chili Size

Does anyone know of any place in Vegas that has a Chili Size on their menu? This question was asked on ND yesterday and no one has an answer. I used to love them at Knowlwood in OC but noticed they don't have them on their menu now. It's easy enough to make at home but curious if there's anywhere in town to get one.

Moving to Vegas - tips and tricks?

Hi everyone!

I have just gotten a big girl promo and my bf (m38) and I (f33) are planning the move. So I’d love to ask for your help with a few things as we embark on the research stage of where to live and how to move eye:

  1. We like things we can walk to. Although Vegas isn’t really walk friendly, are there areas that generally have good proximity to grocery stores, shopping and dining that’s within “walking distance”?

  2. We don’t have children so we would like to stay around younger professionals with similar interests: outdoors, board games, wellness/gym, dining. We are considering Summerlin, He season and Green Valley Ranch - which would for the bill better since we can certainly drive around but the demographics are hard to figure out?

  3. What are some of the things only locals do/know/aware of especially when choosing a place to live? For example, air conditioning prices (assuming it sky high), air filters exchange (I heard it’s a thing in desert like places AZ, NV etc), so things that you never did that you do now as LV resident.

  4. For recent transplants, how did you find your home? We are looking on Zillow, are there any Vegas local sites that we should be referencing instead?

  5. My office (2x a week) is in Summerlin and my partner will have to fly to SF for work (1x a month) so we are trying to balance my commute with his - what are bad comparably better accessibility to both?

Thank you all for your help! We are so so excited!

Possible move

Hi everyone! My husband is looking at joining the electrical union in Las Vegas which means we could be moving there from Richmond va. I just have a few questions for you locals if y’all don’t mind.

First off I’m a teacher and would be looking for an elementary school to work at, how are the teaching jobs here?

I have a son who will be in elementary school in 4 years, where are the best elementary schools located?

Which suburb of LV do you feel is safest or best for families?

Thanks so much!!
