I was tabling for our club yesterday and this man came up to me and said that when he was in the marines in '06 they played "underwater hockey" to train. He called it torture before explaining what "Marine Underwater Hockey" was: "players" dive into the water, grab a heavy weight (I assume it's a rubber plate), and have to push it from one end of the pool to another while their instructors try to actively drown them by pushing and blocking their way.
I've never heard of this before and was wondering if anyone in this community actually "played" this version of Marine Underwater Hockey.
So I was gonna get the Rocket ghost 2.0s and ive heard alot of people saying the 1.0s are better, are they?
I played UWH in a college club and was wondering if there are any teams or anyone looking into starting a team/club in the Detroit area? I’d love to know if there is any interest in the area.
Hello,
Joining the breir crew. Had been going to get E-glass but good timing with birthday would allow an upgrade.
Opinions on S-glass vs C5?
Not my first composite fins have had a second hand pair of matmas and K8s but first briers. Have whittled the other choices down to the 450 length, normal width.
All thoughts appreciated!
Someone's selling what look like homebrew Octopush gloves on ebay.
Anyone brought one?
Are they any good, how do they compare to HydroUWH skellys?
I used to play , which was morw than 10 years ago, with avantiquattro fins and burana snorkel and omer alien mask. What do you use?
I'm keen, but have questions. How to they fit? What's the seal like? The strap and fixings? How the visibility? Do you notice the curve of the lens when you look through? How does it compare to a traditional UWH mask overall? Does it get in the way of the snorkel? Did it take much getting used to? Is it strong? Have you had any direct puck hits? Are there any downsides? Thanks!

Thanks heaps to anyone who does (:
I’m looking to upgrade my fins (currently wearing Mares Avanti and I hate them), and I recently tried some Najades and loved them. I’d like either a pair of Najades or similar, small fins, but I’m struggling to find anything reasonably priced in the UK - does anyone have any other recommendations for fins, or should I just bite the bullet and pay the extortionate shipping fees for a pair of najades?
Thanks in advance!
Hi guys, quite new to the sport (2 lessons in) and have been using club sticks, was thinking of investing in my own stick but unsure on how to choose the right one for me. As I quite new, I do not have a fixed position (offensive, defensive etc) yet, I just want something that is more balance and good to learn the new skills. I have found a bigger hook and rounded front seems to make it easier to control the puck in my limited experience. Currently looking at CanAm and there are so many choices but not sure what suits me, any advice?
I just found out about this sport from a youtube video and it looks really awesome! I showed the video to my masters swim group and we really want to try it out, but we don't have the money to drop on a bunch of equipment. So we're improvising.
Our team had a bunch of old water polo helmets, we got some cheap gloves, we jury rigged a goal set-up and we 3d printed some flimsy but easily replaceable sticks. The only thing we're missing now is a puck.
From what I can see, there is really only one place to buy a puck and it costs $60. Are there any alternatives we can find for cheaper? Or any advice on making our own pucks?
I have been playing for a few years and i want to upgrade my fins, i've read good things about the najade sprints and fiberglass fins like leaderfins. If anyone could weigh in on this topic i would be very appreciative. I play forward so i'm looking for fins with good power that doesn't cost too much in maneuverability. Thanks
Good luck!
I've been playing UWH for 2 years now and our club doesn't have a coach. Do you know any ressource (book, website, articles...) that I could learn from to better structure our trainings. A the moment it really looks like a bunch of teenagers playing with a puck (except all the teenagers are above 40...). It used to be the captain of the team guiding the training but he passed away last year and our performances reflected it.
Good luck guys! See all yall there (hopefully!!) Play hard and be safe!
Hey everyone!
We are hosting UWH events in the Netherlands for a while now and we have been growing the community! We would love to start hosting events around the world and make the community whole.

I think all members/former members of USA underwater hockey got an email survey about reffing. What did you think about it?
I thought it seemed to be heavily pushing the point that reffing needs to be improved, but I don't think I actually agree with the point. So taking the survey was kinda weird, since some questions didn't have an option for saying "reffing is OK".
Just wondering how many redditors are also East Coast players! That sport court though...
Been awhile since I have purchased fins, and I have been rocking the same pair of quattros for awhile now. I find myself looking for more acceleration, better turning, and a less bulky fin overall, but its hard to research something without being able to test them.
Anyone have suggestions or info on different fins that are popular these days? Probably looking for something in the $200 or less range.
