Zanzibar never again

Wow zanzibar is the most annoying place in the whole world . Every one second someone try to talk to you to sell something ,in every step in the beach in the road everywhere you can’t have a moment for yourself . Most of them get mad and angry if you don’t answer . Really ? I travelled many years in Asia and other places but what happened in Zanzibar is out of control. Even they are laughing on your back because you are a white tourist. Full racism . This doesn’t happen in Dar Salam by the way is a Zanzibar thing . I was planning to stay 3 weeks and I am leaving now to mainland and I feel so much relieved.I will give you an example when I enter Zanzibar from dar Salam with the ferry they stamp my passport so I asked very polite the officer not to use a new page because I had only 3 and there was plenty of half pages so he looked at me he took my passport and stamp a new page exactly in the middle so no one can put a stamp there . He looked me and laughed so evil. I thought that was only a bad moment but this continued with almost everyone in the island .The beach is not that nice like they try to promote …that nice is only if you take a boat and go to a sandbank. The food is not good I got poisoned they fried the fish in a very very black oil which use it a million times .I want to say to the Zanzibar people change this thing as soon as possible . Zanzibar got famous the last years but with this behaviour you will stay alone to the island . Me I will not recommend this island to anyone. This traveller explain better than me what’s going on in Tanzania https://wheretheroadforks.com/why-ill-never-return-to-tanzania/

Products from Germany/Europe

Hi All,

I currently live in Germany and would like to provide services for anyone that is looking for specific goods or products from Germany or Europe. I can source the product and handle shipping on this side. What are some of the products that Tanzanians need?

What's wrong with education in Tanzania?

I would stay quet but this question would cause me head-ached, "perhaps what's wrong with education provided in Tanzania(my own country)?". For my experience Tanzanian ordinary and high schools, collages, and even universities are even overcrowded. Most of the graduates are in streets with their degrees and no jobs but i'm rather shoked seeing news in web browsers that the country has plenty of jobs but no workers, to the extent that it needs people from outside for job vacancies, you can refer "https://daadscholarship.com/tanzania-skill-shortage-jobs-2024-with-work-visa-process/"

If the problem is insufficient knowledge, where such knowledge obtained?? Still the answer is from Tanzanian schools, collages and universities. So why should we still stay focused on the sama system of education??(Inaumiza kichwa changu). Who can raise the voice of hope so that we shall not suffer?

Whats with the network issues? Wifi or even cellular.

So for the past two days the network suddenly dropped and is so slow. I use Zuku as a wifi provider and Airtel for cellular.

Both service have been extremely slow and sometimes doesnt even load a webpage. Netflix streaming takes a while to buffer and load.

Anyone having the same issues? Is this a local network issue or something external?

Expats and taxes in tanzania?

I am on vacation in Tanzania. I read online that one becomes a resident after 183 days or so. I would like to talk to any expats that has experience with this. Do I have to register for a TIN or will it be automatically created for me after 183 days? Any help would be appreciated.

Experiences with selling a car in Tanzania as foreigner

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can share their experience with selling a car in Tanzania as a foreigner (private sale). I'm curious how the process went, how long it took, what worked best, and what you may have learned in the process. I know there are nuances and various factors so it's not a blanket experience for all, but just curious some general experiences. And in terms of resale value generally (i.e. lots of depreciation or a little? I know this can vary as well but just wondering personal experiences) Thanks so much

Try to imagine

I'm pondering here. There are some people living in Chunya, deep inside, who don't even know about KFC, Mlimani City, Uber/Bolt, or even Netflix. Additionally, They don't even consider visiting DSM, the dream city of everyone, and guess what? They wake up every day with aesthetic smiles

Gigabit fiber?

Is it a pipe dream to think that someone would offer that here? My current provider (WIA) is probably the best out there, but even they can't put me up in the Big Leagues without paying some Big League prices 😔

Bank recommendation?

Mambo everyone. I am looking to open a personal current account, with the intention of opening both TZS and USD accounts. As I work in quite remote areas of the country, and I move around a lot, I was thinking either CRDB, NMB, or NBC, given they seem to be ones with the best coverage in terms of branches.

I was wondering if anyone had recommendations between these three? Important things would be fees (both with regards to account maintenance, and transfers), ease of operations, ability/cost of taking out money (including at ATMs that are not from that bank), easeness of receiving international transfers, and computer and mobile banking capabilities.

Asante sana in advance to anyone that may be provide any advice.

Interview questions for international culture project

Dear Tanzanian or other knowledged users that have lived or worked in the country or area,

I am student working on a minor and for a project in school I have to ask interview questions and get answers from Tanzanians about their own country, culture, and way of life. I thought reddit was a great place to try and

Some questions I have set up are;

How is the average weather, and how often do extreme weather conditions as droughts or floods occur in the country?

What languages are prevalent in your area? Do other languages than Swahili get used, and how is the use of English regarded in day to day life?

What are some popular Tanzanian menu items and food customs?

How does the location you live in affect your way of life. If you live in the city or in more rural areas do you find any difficulties?

What is your relationship with time, are you more focused on being on time and planning ahead, or are you more focused on current situations?

How is your attitude on a hierarchical structure between student/teacher or worker/boss, and how do you prioritize in a relative work/ life balance.?

What is your opinion on gender roles between men and women?

And for the last question, what is your attitude towards foreigners and tourists?

Thank you in advance for your reactions! If you could send a reaction either in the comments or message it to me with just your name(so I can mention it in the project portfolio) I would appreciate it a lot.

what would u do if u were president of tz?

imma be honest, i live in dar and im a teen but god do i hate it here.sometimes im even embarassed to say im tanzanian cuz of the amount of problems in this country. The HDi even fell amd Uganda passed us💀. And our population is growing like crazy and its mostly the poor ppl who do that. Like no offense those in the rural regions be having 10 kids and u can’t even afford to take 1 to school or even feed them, shouldn’t having one kid already be enough?? And don’t get me started on the power cuts every damn time it pisses me off🤦🏾‍♀️. And as i said before im a teen but i look way younger than i am and these men have the audacity to ask me out and then i tell them i’m underaged and they don’t even care. “dada nipe namba yako basi😏”🤨. Oh and i forgot the corrupt system where u can just pay the polic laki moja and you’re off the hook😭. This country has so many problems and mama Samia is covering it up by doing those pesky side quests and ppl hype her up saying “nani kama mama”😑 Honestly i was just venting my anger😂 so what do u guys think?
