How far in advance can you apply for a Visa

Hello we have applied for a visa on the website and we are going to Tanzania in just over seven months. The site didn't say how far in advance you can apply and it didn't stop out application with the dates. We have looked on another site and it says you and only apply up to six months in advance. Will our application get cancelled or will they wait a month before accepting?

Activities to do in dar es salaam

I recently moved back to dar, many of my close friends aren't here anymore so I have mostly been a homebody. I decided that this year I would go out more and be more adventurous but it seems this city doesn't have much to offer. Maybe I don't know where to look but seems all there is to do is going out to eat and drink. Before I moved I would go out for walks, go to the park, galleries, live theater, workshops Could anyone suggest were I can find such activities here?

What is the process of getting married in Tanzanian traditions, asking for a Nigerian groom...

We are UK based me and my partner are planning to get married this year and so many issues are rising especially when it comes to bride price.

In Nigeria there is no negotiations when it comes to bride price but it seems like it is a big thing with Tanzanian's and they purposely increase the the bride price with the intentions of negotiating.

Is there anyone who can tell me what is expected going in so there wont be any surprises.

I Have Nowhere to Start, I Need a Job

Lately, I feel lost. Life is moving too fast, and with each passing day, I feel like I’m just drifting without direction. I’ve reached a point where I know I need to do something, but I have no idea where to start. I need a job,,not just for the income, but also to feel a sense of purpose, to have goals, and to move forward.

I’ve been searching, asking around, but I still haven’t found a way forward. I know I’m not the only one going through this, but I feel the weight of my own struggles. I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance from anyone who has been in a similar situation or knows how to navigate out of it. I live in dar

BEFORE AND AFTER REAL ESTATE

Let me share with you some updates on Rent, Renovate, Furnish and then sublet to others at high charges.

We have added another unit, landlord wanted 1M per Month we negotiated with him for a contract of 3 year with possible renewal of 2 years so it's 3+2 where after 3 years he has rights to accept or decline our offer.

So we agreed to pay at 800k, and Upgrade we made some interior Changes and Full furnish the property we went out to Place in the market at 2.5m per month.

Its a 2 MB apartment with Parking space.

Take a look at it.

This is pure example of renting properties alongside CBD corridor where people consider worthless as the neighbourhood is Disappointing but when you play your cards well you can make it.

Let's keep sharing on ways to get involved in Real Estate with small capital.

My boyfriend asking for money, looking for advices

I'm from Spain and I used to live in Zanzibar for 5 months and I met this guy in Zanzibar, things went slowly, we first were friends and taratibu taratibu we gave the first kiss and started a relationship. I met all of his friends and spent time in their homes and I feel like I can trust him but I'm also aware that a lot of men are scammers and try to earn money from mzungu women. We lived together for more than a month and he doesn't have a lot of money, he struggles a lot with money but always came home with some food or drinks for me. He was very kind and never begged me for something. Sometimes he asked me like 10k shillings and I gave him but he also used to buy food or transport sometimes.

He didn't even have a smartphone and we went together to Stone Town to repair one, he saved money to pay this and now he always put money on the phone to call each other... Now we will be far away for 5 months and some weeks ago he showed me a plot of his friend to buy and we talked about the possibility of buying a plot and building a small house together, but when I felt like he was asking me money to buy US a plot I immediately let him know that he needs to save some money to contribute and he was ok with this.

Now he asked me money because he managed to save some but lost his wallet, he called me and he was nearly crying because he wanted to use these money for a little business and now that low season is coming it will be hard for him... He asked me like 60k because he was waiting for a friend to buy some products to resell but lost 100k he saved for it.

I don't know what to do, I'm sorry for him and I feel a bit guilty because the money that I earn in a month would be a game changer but also I don't want money to be part of our relationship and I'm a little bit afraid of being used since I heard a lot of stories about it. I also love him a lot so I need your advice!! What would you do?

Why coffee prices is increased

Why are coffee prices increasing so much lately? I’ve noticed that my usual coffee is getting more expensive, and I’m curious about what’s driving the rise. Is it mostly due to climate change affecting production, or are there other major factors like supply chain issues, labor costs, or market speculation? Also, how long do you think these price hikes will last? Would love to hear insights from people in the industry!

Internet prices are cooking me

Bana, I left the country 2 years ago. Went to Kenya. Now I'm back, and my jaw is on the floor.

The internet prices are wild!!!
I'm currently broke, I have no laptop, and everything is in shambles. I can't afford to buy a router at the moment, so I'll just have to make do with my tulittle mbs every now and then popping my head to check what is up.

The internet bundles here are over twice as much. My guess is that not many people use the internet, and the government is overtaxing these companies.

I remember back in Nairobi, 50 bob (1000tsh) could get you a gb. Here, that doesn't even get you half a gb. WTF?

How does the most ordinary of mwananchi afford to stay online?

Shit. I'm cooked for the next few months. I thought I'd come back here and everything would be so cheap, now I've gotta live like I'm back in the Middle Ages.

I very much did not miss this place. Although, it's looking quite beautiful.

Why Are There So Many Ajax Jerseys in Dar es Salaam?

Hey,

I’m writing for a Dutch newspaper and curious about something I’ve noticed—there seem to be Ajax Amsterdam jerseys everywhere in Dar es Salaam.

Why is that? Is there a specific reason Ajax is so popular, or is it just a coincidence? I’d love to hear any insights, stories, or theories about how this came to be.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Jobs for Expats

Hi everyone! I’m a 25-year-old Filipina who’s currently looking for a job so that I can stay in Dar es Salaam permanently. I grew up here so I have a lot of love and respect for Dar’s culture and people.

I was wondering if anyone knew which sites or platforms I should use to find jobs for expats? I’ve been browsing Mabumbe and GreatTanzaniaJobs but most of the listings are for locals. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Prebooking busses and trains

Hi!

I'm visiting Tanzania for the first time in March from Canada.

I'll be taking the train from Dar to Dodoma, and then a bus to Arusha and then to Nairobi in Kenya.

I'm wondering if I will be okay buying tickets for travel the day of my trips. (Will they be sold out?) I'm looking at travelling on or around March 27-28.

The only way for me to book these tickets online is through agents who often charge 2-3x what it costs to buy them on the ground.

Thanks!

For those who code, innovate, and market... this one's for you. 🤗

I had (well currently having) a late-night thought, and I think it's worth sharing. While there's been a lot of hype around large language models, we’re missing out on the conversation about other AI models that are just as game-changing. Models for music generation (like Suno and the new Yen model), sound effects creation, lip-syncing, image editing, and even video generation are all out there. The potential for marketers and content creators is huge!

Why aren’t we seeing more AI-generated jingles, dynamic ads, or automated content creation? I decided to put this to the test—so I randomly picked a product on Instagram, created an ad in just a couple of minutes (and I’m not even a video editor or content creator). But here's the cool part: this could easily be automated (using no code/low code tools and programming languages) to fit different languages and cultures, making it even more powerful.

I’ve shared the link to the 30-second video in the comments (fingers crossed I don’t get flagged by the mods). Check it out!

Is Lindi safe to travel due to political conflicts near the Mosambique border?

Hello, I am planning on travelling to Lindi this April, but I've read that I should definitely avoid the region around Mtwara near the border to Mosambique. Now I wondered whether Lindi is already too close to the border to travel there safely or if its acceptable. Any advice will be appreciated :) Tahnks in advance!

Gaming PCs

Hey guys, All the hardware shops in Dar have gaming pcs insanely overpriced, while prebuilding the gaming rigs with really old GPU's or processors.

Where do you fellow gamers get your PCs from, did you have them shipped from out of country ? was it custom prebuilt or did you guys assemble individual parts yourselves? i'd love to know how much of a dent did it leave in your wallets lol

I have a really old gaming rig and it sucks =(
